Cops have always shutdown casual car meets. It was just as bad during the 1970s ( my decade of cruising). We were warned about loitering and trespassing, numerous times.
What a shame shutting the event down. What was with that? it's a war against internal combustion engines. Just can't have fun without someone complaining.
Pretty cool your Dad is probably to young to remember besides Van Nuys Wensday nights midnight BOA Van Nuys Blvd meet then head to Sepulveda Blvd to the end by the mission cemetery race up the hill there was several nights guys showed up with full on dragsters the cops would come and watch great memories keep it comming find some more older guy's to interview be for they are all gone thank you for sharing 👍😎👍
Sadly I kinda get the feeling that SoCal (Cal period) car events are going to get more Police visits than less. With the state government looking at getting rid of ALL gas powered and private ownership being looked at.....all the car guys will need to come to West Virginia where we just had a number of laws passed that SUPPORT the hobby/classic car hobby. Yeah its snowing here right now in northern Michigan, but I can get together with 30 of my gearhead friends, we can go to one of the parking lots, hang out, then go out to eat or see a movie or whatever without the cops coming to tell us to break it up. Do they think that people who can afford exotic cars are going to be littering, spraying graffiti, or shoplifting? Oh wait, I hear those are all legal now in California, but hanging out with some gearhead friends is not. When the weather improves here and I get the guys together, I'll shoot some video of it, won't be as good as yours though.
