  • Misty Island was my Christmas project for 2024: a fantasy adventure story in a let's play format where we follow Krudius Loneblight as he solves the mystery and attempts to leave the island.
This first behind the scenes video is spoiler free, but the upcoming parts won't be. If you want to catch up with the story, here's a link to the full playlist and the completed story: • Misty Island | Advent ...

Omg Ani this is amazing! It made such a difference to the story having a completely new hood to play Misty Island with and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates the time and effort it took for you to make the whole series! Great work as always

You started this like 2 weeks before the 1st Dec?!?!🤯 I was wholly convinced you must have spent months and months on this! I can't imagine how long this would have taken me and you seem to have gracefully crossed so many hurdles already I fear I may have given up at. You're truly amazing and inspiring Ani, I am in awe. Well done👏 Your work is amazing and I can't wait to see the upcoming parts of this, thank you for sharing them with us💕

It's so cool to see it all coming together! I'm shocked that you did the majority of the prep in 2 weeks - I was convinced you had been planning the story for months in advance! That portal object is so cool, I've never seen that before! I'm also impressed with how quickly you placed criquette's roads; that's always a struggle for me 😂 I tend to hide my mistakes with clumps of trees 🌳 I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the behind the scenes! 😊

Thank God for your patience and persistence, otherwise we wouldn't have this series=))
Why didn't you just build roads on the island and then use a mod to make them invisible?

To be honest, I didn't think of that option. It is my main game though so any default added would affect all my hoods so for that reason it wouldn't have worked. But it's a clever solution if it's the only hood you're playing in/you're using different save folders.

I am amazed you all this in so little time! When I was watching, I thought you had finished this months ago.

i haven't finished the series yet but i loved seeing your creative process here! I'm impressed with how well you edit the map terrain, i always end up making a complete mess of things. Love the lot adjuster but it's definitely confusing. I better get to finishing the story before the next behind the scenes episode

Something that might save anyone doing an island like this a lot of time: Save your hood after you made the terrain as you like it. Make another SC4 terrain with a little bit of road on the island. Make a new hood using that SC4 terrain, this will be your real hood. Copy over the terrain adjustments from the first hood using Hood Replacer. Place your lots. Then, copy over the roads from the first hood using Hood Replacer; I think you have to check a box to allow it to delete roads. Tadaa! Lots are where you want, but now you have no roads. You could make yet another with the roads in case you ever want to put the roads back to add new lots.
I say all this from memory so I could be wrong, but I believe that should work. Sorry I couldn't save you the headache, Ani!

I didn’t know Hood Replace also copies the changes made with the modifyTerrain cheat! Thanks for sharing this

Wow, thank you so much, Ana!!! That is great to know ❤ It was nice doing this the "hard way" in order to learn how to use the lot adjuster to move things around, but I'll keep your solution in mind for future projects 🥰

Loved the series and so happy to see the behind the scenes. Moving a lot off the road is one of those things I intend to do with Lot Adjuster but not got round to it yet.

Criquette's road pieces are fiddly but so much fun!

Oh I feel so much better about my own custom neighborhood woes lol I'm not the only one who has to fix and fix and fix stuff, though I did most of the back and forth in SC4.

It's amazing to know that all this has come about in such a short time. I assumed that you had planned months in advance. So even more thanks to you! The story was already great, but to get behind the scence now is a dream!
But I still have one question, maybe it's a stupid question. What did you do to make the deco roads adapt to the terrain? In my game the same roads you used don't do that and disappear into uneven ground. You made it look so easy and now I'm confused.

    • @AniBats
      @AniBats  4 дні тому +1

Thank you so much, Nicole 🥰❤ Not a stupid question at all! The Criquette set comes with different types of dirt roads. Some are straight, some are curved, and others are slanted. The slanted roads come in a variety of angles so that they can be used seamlessly on slopes.
