    No model can rule me out of my comfort zone. I usually build ships, but planes, armor and helicopters some time just to relax and put some unusuall models on my shelf. Great looking SA-N-7, interesting take on internals of the launch pad. Wish they add some figures in thouse kits. :)

      Oh man, I hear you! Figures were very tricky to come by for this one! Paracel Miniatures have a set of modern Russian sailors but they are very difficult to come by. I will be including figures on mine but it is a slightly left of centre take on the whole thing. Thanks for joining in. Hope you are enjoying the channel 🥳

    A great result on an unusual subject Clayton! Your skill with the airbrush is exceptional mate. Try as much as I like, I still have a lot of issues using mine. I know practice makes perfect, but my hobby time is limited, so I guess my skills will build slowly. I love the channel, and look forward to every video no matter the subject, so keep them coming my friend. Cheers till next episode.

    Good model build (I knew it was a missile due to that riddle). It is interesting take those big models that in a way are easy to build so the detail on the paint are indeed crucial to it. Excellent job!

    My next project is most certainly out of my comfort zone. I’m going from heavily weathered ww2 german tanks to an F22 which will have practically zero weathering, but I am very excited nonetheless!

    Greetings once again Clayton! My out of the zone comfort build would probably have to be ww1 aircraft. I currently have 2 on the bench right now. One is 1/48 and the other 1/32. Enjoying the interior before I close them up this summer and then every modelers nemesis, rigging! You’ll probably hear me even though I’m in the US!😂thanks again for another great tutorial! I anticipate you having at least 50,000 subs with such great content!😂

    As my interests shift, I find myself having to build new skills. After close to ten years doing mostly armor, I'm just finishing up the third 1/32 plane in a row. I'll then do a 1/35 armor kit I have teed up. I intend to do some ships after that. And to think I spent around a dozen years after I returned to the hobby as an adult doing auto models. There is no lack of interesting subjects in all genres and new techniques to master. It's all enjoyable (unless you screw up and the air turns blue).

    Nice work Clayton, I've been building the Battleship turrets from Takom, nice change from armour, and the occasional sci-fi kit, just to change it up, but still love my armour...

    What I've noticed about your brush painting is how you only load the latter end of the brush. I'm surprised because you still have plenty of material without running out. Typically I load the brush all the way up...but they're exceptionally difficult to clean. I'm in the middle of a 1/72 RB-45 Tornado build (I'm mostly an aircraft modeler) so the time is great to alter what I've been doing for 35yrs-hopefully for the better. Thanks for sharing dude!

    • @workbenchhobbies4316
      @workbenchhobbies4316  2 місяці тому

      Interesting. I know best practice is to never get paint in the ferrule. Damages the brushes quickly. If your paint is thinned enough a good brush will carry a fair amount of paint and go along way. Maybe try thinning you paint a little more and see if you can keep the paint in the brush wetter for longer

    I don't have a comfort zone. Well, air, land sea, most popular periods, figures, animals, machines, topography. From depicting explosions to rough seas, I can't imagine being conventional as it's boring.
    Advanced modellers syndrome (AMS) is real, manifested by lack of originality. I've never done something that looks like anyone else's.
    I like your style and genial approach. Makes it more welcoming to newcomers.

      @workbenchhobbies4316 Tried to look for a way of sending you my diorama photos. Couldn't see 1. I'm not on social media - urggh! You'll be pleased with what I can do.
      PS: You're spot on about this being an unrivalled time for modellers. I'm 58 and thought the mid 1990's was the time when the hobby would start to die out. Reason = it got far more detailed & more expensive. The previous decade, the 89's saw a huge growth in cottage industries like Verlinden. In my opinion, it was the end of the Cold War and the huge increase in prosperity of the Far East . There's no cottage industry on the level of the 80s and 90s due to the sheer quality of kits today. We are spoiled. Have been for all of this century. Admittedly, the 20th century onward is what kits concentrate on.

    I most enjoy doing airplanes, with an occasional car or armor build. However, I recently went outside the "comfort zone" and tackled Takom's 1/72 Yamato turret. That was an absolute joy to build. While the kit was pretty easy to do, it gave the opportunity to learn how to use oils to create realistic wood grain for the deck.

    Nicely done. The slightly lurid anti corrosion green is a great contrast to the grey of the mount.
