I tried a few times with this snare at the studio. I was totally amazed by how powerful this snare drum is...
Its really cool how versatile the sound is, it works in metal, it works in jazz, it works in funk, hell it even resembles the sound of a marching snare with how tight you have it tuned. Im excited to play around with it since i have one ordered, awesome video!
Thanks for watching, man! It's such a good snare. Really affordable too.
RIP JOEY🙏🏻
Yeah bro. Such hectic news!
More like "the snare that everyone has heard about but would assume it's only good for metal" ;) Very interesting though, especially since it's not very expensive ! And you make that sound great mate !
Haha! I don't think I have many metal drummers following me on Instagram, so a loooot of them constantly ask what it is!
@Dekkal yes but compared to other highend snares
I still have this snare. I haven’t used it in so long, but you’ve made me appreciate it a lot more. It’s actually a hidden gem.
Crazy enough, I absolutely hated the sound of the snare for metal, the genre it was originally designed for. But it actually sounds great for funk or punk. I still think it’s a little too punchy for jazz, but I could see it working in a moderate-sized jazz gig. I commend you for opening my eyes and finding great uses for it.
I will say, I always loved the way it sounded with the strings off.
Edit: I’m a complete idiot. The reason I hated the sound was I wasn’t tuning it well and I needed to change the heads. I switched to a dry head on the top and it sounds great!
Whatever he used in London live was perhaps the sickest sounding metal snare I ever heard.
it was a ocdp 12“ 40ply maple snare. there was a ocdp website back then that listed every artist with their then current kit/konfiguration
@@stifm3ister Hell yea, the good old ocdp! Wondering why the f would he switch to freaking Pearl later on!?

Money
You can get this snare to sound very, very, very close to how that sounded. Speaking from experience. I spent hours trying different heads and tunings etc to get it
@@Tibchy91 well they do make good drums to be fair
13" snare is where its at, I've been using a black panther cherry wood 13×5 for about 15 years. Love it. And it's all because of the legend, RIP Joey, you will always be an inspiration and forever loved.
Yeah it has a great pop to it! RIP Joey...
I have the BP Cherry Bomb, amazing drum.
Check out Chris Adlers snare. You will love it
Hope to see " 5 drum beats of Joey Jordison"!
Unfortunately, metal drumming is my weak point haha
Brett, well, you can blast beat. So that's a major headstart... you are really good by the way..
I have that snare too! It’s my favorite, it’s super versatile in my opinion and the rim shots sounds killer on this drum
It's so good, bro!
The way joey cranked up that snare during Live 9.0 was beautiful
i have this snare aswell. i got it for christmas 2 or 3 years ago and i love the tight snap
Such a good rimshot sound!
So that’s why it pops so well!!!
yep!
It sounds amazing 👍🏻🥁🔥
Yeah it does!
I had one for years I always like the sound of my snare. I have a Tama standard maple 14x5 superstar snare it's okay it's not the same.
Great video man!!!
Enjoyed watching your video thanks 😊
Thing sounds almost like a timbale with the snares off👍
yep!
Nice! Favorite snare I had was a stave shell padauk 13 x 6.5 I unfortunately sold over 10 years ago. Cranked it up and my current high as well, i use snare weight as well. Currently favor my 12 x 6 Italian ebony veneered pork pie. It cracks.
I may be looking to try that snare in the future though I do like the fuller sound of 13". Great vid.
oooh that sounds interesting. Would love to hear what it sounds like, man :)
This snare, despite being made for metal, is so damn versatile. I also love that poppy, tight sound
I've had it for few years. Really nice and versatile drum but I must say that in higher tuning it starts to show what it was made for :D
It works great as a fat snare with Hydraulic or HD Dry on it, it covers all medium tunings with single ply heads just amazingly - it even has something from concert snares; But for me high tuning is the best, especially with double ply head to add some "fatness".
Nice snare. I sold it because of the weight and loudness - it's a stage snare and I play small/quiet events so it didn't work for me that well as other snares.
Hey great video!! I think I have to crank my tuning up a little more then! And I agree, it's super versatile!
I know a few who use the Chris Adler 12x 5.5 signature for jazz and such. Again a HUGE pop!
What heads are you using??
yeah totally! I've heard of Chris Adler's one. Would love to get hold of it one day.
I'm currently using an Evans G2 Coated. The reso head is just the stock one that came with the snare
I don’t think you had em on, but I dig the super man glasses! Got me a similar frame haha!
Thanks man haha! I take them off for the monologue sections as the lights tend to reflect weirdly
What resonant head are you using?
The best snare for one of the best drummers of the 2000s.
What are the demensions?
Hey Mate, I have that snare too. What head are you using?
Evans G2 Coated. It's not my favourite snare head around, but it's hard to find good snare heads for 13" snare drums where I live.
R.I.P. Joey
Are you from South Africa? 😊
Rest In Peace Joey Jordison
Jordison had a Jazz and Marching band background.
Did you go to school for drums?? How long been playing?
I did not haha. I do have a Performance Diploma for drums though. It was just a one time practical exam, not a long stretched out thing. I've been playing for about 20 years. Since I was 3 :)
I bet this thing would sound crazy with aquarian resonators
My friend, what skins are you using on her?
Just an Evans G2 Coated in this video. It's not my favorite thing out there, but finding 13" snare heads is quite hard in my small town haha
Can you help me remove the leftover harmonics that exist in it, in the tuning?
@@ismael7848 just add tape, moon gel etc
Friend, what is the mat and skin of answer?
Why cant i find one with the Slipknot logo on it anywhere?
The newer ones don’t have the logos on them. You just have to get an older used one online
Needs more
Binzasara.
What the heck is that
I heard it's 13 by 7. Not to be a smart ass. I just fell in love with this snare hearing a guy playing it today. So I'm,m doing some homework!!!!
Sorry, I just seen another demo and it said it was 13 by 6.5, sorry bro!
I’m lucky I got one cheap r.I.p
Its made in Taiwan I ve seen inside snare drum shell..sticker.pearl
f
I want one🥁!
