I’m a 20 year carpenter and this cabin build is awesome. You’re doing great for having little experience. If you store your caulk tubes with the nozzles up all the air will eventually make its way to the top almost eliminating bubbles while you’re caulking.
I'm a 54 year old career carpenter. Framing, Finishing, Renovations, Concrete and Film sets. I approve of everything that happens here. Not taking yourself too seriously is an excellent trait to have. New subscriber today.
My wife doesn’t normally watch your video’s but she watched it with me this morning and she said you need a dog. I enjoy watching you figure out how you want things to look when finished.
man i love Saturday mornings . hard part is waiting all week for the next one . i do re watch them so it helps but sure would be nice to have a in between video . ok great video as always cant wait till next weekend . work safe buddy .
Since you don't want to make stairs right now,... would about adding a 8 foot screened balcony, and do the stairs later. Like, having a place to sit in July outdoors where the bugs can't get you, a place in winter and spring as a mud room/ gear room. Just an idea, as you asked for comments. Enjoy your channel, like the way you try out new design ideas. Very creative! Keep up the good work. 👍 We enjoy watching!
I think a deck on the front would be awesome. I love watching your build. So much fun. Your humor and interaction with us is so cool. Confession time...who watches each video more than once???
The cabin is coming along beautifully that thing should last 100 years and the way you work hard you might last that long too can’t wait to see the end product thanks for taking me along God bless be happy stay safe
Another great episode. Excellent progress once you had your materials ready. I like your idea of a skylight. Natural light on a cold winter day can add so much benefit (see what you’re doing, improve your mood, etc). Already looking forward to next Saturday 👏👏👏
Definitely my favorite also..this guy deserves much more publicity..but that's part why I like him because he doesn't care about that..plus his candor and video vibe is amazing for someone who never acted!
Another Saturday Morning, Tea, Cereal for Breakfast, as usual day to day, UA-cam and Ringworm, what a way to start the weekend, beautifully did for how far up north you are, waiting for an exciting start to another project or end to this one...Please don't stop!!!
Nice job, Ryan!. I love your cabin. You should add a screened in porch. It will keep the mosquitos away and also to keep shoes or boots with mud outside. You will know what to do when the time comes.
Great work! That planer works perfectly on a 20 amp circuit, not 15. Eventually you'll get a pitch build up on the rubber feeder rollers causingthem not to grip. When that happens clean them off with paint thinner on a rag. As for the polycrylic not preventing stain, you need to use 3 coats, lightly sanding with fine grit between coats. It will prevent coffee stains and work great for indoor table tops. Thanks for the video!
You are awesome Mr. Ringworm. I mean you just mix stuff up as you go and it's quite awesome. My husband when he was living we would do the same thing. He just recently passed away September 3rd. I'm at a loss. I sure do miss him a lot.
Great episode. Solar tubes are also a great way to bring light in without having to remove any rafters. You make a 50 minute episode feel like 10. I look forward to seeing all your projects and episodes. It’s always entertaining and I love how you make fun of yourself. Your outlook on things is highly infectious. Look forward to doing this soon myself. Keep up the amazing work!
Freaking Awesome!!! The black tar caulk makes everything pop! Planing the work bench was cool looks great. The live edges are sweet. Stay safe with the incoming weather!!!!
Cabin looks fantastic! Especially with the black lines. You have done good! Planer really made a difference on the wood. Stairs with the logs will look cool. Stay safe and warm, winter is coming.
I always enjoy watching you build things the way YOU want to do it! I'm the same way...who cares what someone else thinks, as long as you're happy with it! Keep the videos coming!
Excellent video! Fantastic the outside is totally finished! Won’t take long to insulate the inside and install wood on walls👍 very impressive! B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Your cabin is amazing. If it was me I would put a skirt around the bottom to help keep the heat in your cabin. It will help you conserve your propane also. Skirting really makes a difference.
Great job - love the build. As for the polyurethane, don't shake it - just stir it (says so on the can). The bubble will work their way out for the next use.
I love your builds, Ryan! I can't be the only one to answer your questions out loud, even though you can't hear me. 😄 The top of your planer is made to give you a place to lay your board after it comes out of the hole, and it'll be ready to go right back in the other side. I have the same planer, and I love it! Keep up the great work! 😆
I gotta say man, watching you do this living out one of my biggest day dreams is truly inspiring. Keep It up buddy, I look forward to these videos all week :)
Looks awesome!! Before insulation you should put in some baffles in from the eaves, where you made your vents, up past your horizontal ceiling joists. Keep air flow moving to your ridge vent. Or not, lol. Just a thought! See ya next week!
Hello from the Netherlands . idea for the waste wood : make a fake doghouse as shelter for the generator . this way the generator is out of the weather conditions and the generator can still run in bad weather and it looks nice and it is a useful way to dispose of all the wood waste that you have invested quite a lot of time and energy into to make it up. without making a fire with it. thanks for the video Ryan . Sincerely, Hollandduck
Always a pleasure watching as I at least learn one new thing with each new video! Tempted to go back and watch from the very beginning to see how things have progressed... You're clearly good with the chainsaw but just as good at the filming and editing, keep at it! Love to see it!
You are so persnickety 😉. This place is amazing-it’s another fun episode. Can’t wait til you’re tucked in there. Gonna be fun watching you trick this place out. An admirer from Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦
Blob, blob, blob,....looks good from my house lol! 🤣 Yea, it 'Stumps' me how you can find temporary work table for your planer, and now your boards look planer!!!😂
Water based polyurethane act like a lacquer, lies on the surface and doesn't penetrate well, three coats dry to a hard durable finish, and coffee stains should just wipe off! Great work😎👍
Embracing change is good Ryan go with it he he. I've also used Thompson's water seal in the past and not too pleased with that product everything I've ever done with it still weathers and turns gray especially cedar here in the northwest.
you are a master at what you are doing even though you say you are not. This is how america was built, do it your way with what you have and survive the elements, such a great lesson for all of us...
Loving the details! Especially the wonky front facing boards. Such character! You may have addressed in a past video (cant remember if you did), I think some sort of wood face on your door would be awesome. Then it would still look “Ryan Ized”. …just a thought. Can’t wait to see the landing you come with.
I was thinking as you cut them to length…no way I could do that, because I know I’d screw up one of the top cuts and need to start over. Looks great. Must say, my gut wrenches every time you say you’re running that table through the planer. As the first name on that table, my vote would be to preserve that in all its raw glory and make a new one.
Ryan what about building a deck on the front with a covered roof on the front! Help keep the rain & snow out of your front door! Great job & and keep them episodes coming!
Cabin looks great. I wouldnt know a mistake if I saw one, having no woodworking experience. I see a lot of good advice here in the comments. If you built that for 1K you did very well. Cook some food next time. That's always fun to watch.
One of the first things Ryan said was that he was running out of things to do on the outside and that he was going to have to "bite the bullet" and build the stairs. Then he went an entire episode finding other things to do. I really admire Ryan's ability to avoid doing stuff he doesn't enjoy !!! My juvenille sense of humor is triggered when people comment that they like Ryan's black caulk. But you know what? I love Ryan's black caulk too! Thanks for the video Ryan, you're caulk is awesome!
You have one of those heat powered fans on the man cave furnace, your cabin looks great! I love being in da woods. I talk to the deer, they don't answer either😄
Ryan, the cabin sure is looking nice can't wait to see it finished..The product to use for waterproofing the exterior of cabin is called Australian Timber Oil it's either clear or it comes as a stain and oil. The stuff is great on outdoor furniture so I know it would do the cabin right. How good would that cabin look if you used a cedar tone or one of the other colors contrasting with the black caulk. Beautiful that's how. Take Care Brother
The primary use for Aspen in the UK was for floors in railway coal wagons because it was extremely light and durable in days when the unloading was done by shovel.I put a floor in a boat with aspen and it lasted very well
Sitting in my ground blind in 17 degrees here in Fulton Ny with 10” snow on ground , some places got 52”+ and more coming tonight and Sunday. Glad I brought my mr heater with me , nice and warm …. You need a new router bit or sharpen that one. Need steps or deck later on
Ok Ryan. My wife wants me to let you know she wants to see a deck on the front of your new cabin. It doesn't have to be covered, but she says it would be a nice place to sit in a rocking chair and just chill. Also, because you enjoy cooking outside (when the weather permits) it would be a good place for that. Anyway, I did my part to keep her happy. Now it's your turn.
I absolutely your latest cabin, but of course I loved the one the the siding up horizontal and diagonal! I think it is great when you don’t take yourself too seriously! It makes the outcome just amazing! The elevated platform you made just amazed me with your ability to hoist the trusses up that high by yourself! I have been telling people about your site, especially David from Cmon Homesteading! He has framed out a well house/solar room/laundry/bathroom/shower and outdoor kitchen! That is a mouth full! He has it framed, the metal roof and has wrapped it, so now he is going to start milling the siding to make it weather tight so he can put all the appliances in over the winter. I told him to check out your channel, you need to check his out!
For any wood sealant it takes at least 3coats of finish to come close to water resistant/ proof. Sanding in between the coats of finish brings out the shine also

He's already got a 'gazebo' for that 😄
BRILLIANT JOB, UK
I'm so glad reading these comments. I'm one of those that talk back at you! Excellent work, again great sense of humor. " Keep on keeping on" 💚
I LOVE Your Wit ; and You keep me laughing! And Your knowledge of So Many Things is Refreshing. Cabin is Amazing!
Great idea with the black trim. Looks very nice.
These vids every Saturday morning are something I always look forward to! Great work, Ryan! ☕️

@@josephgeorgeejr7039 I'm sure youtube suppresses his videos because they shoot guns. Fck youtube, I like it.

Great job. Glad u have the planer & router. Your perseverance is being rewarded.
Thanks for being there for all of us
Great 👍😃
Looks really good. I can almost smell the cedar. Michigan is really an interesting state....especially the UP. ¡(906)!
Brother,
I think your cabin is beautiful! What a great build! Getting Fancy!
Cheers, Eric
Those vertical lines add so much to the cabin.. great job
Your cabin is amazing. If it was me I would put a skirt around the bottom to help keep the heat in your cabin. It will help you conserve your propane also. Skirting really makes a difference.
My highlight of every Saturday, following progress, I built my own during lockdown with no skills, never built anything before 👍
Great job - love the build. As for the polyurethane, don't shake it - just stir it (says so on the can). The bubble will work their way out for the next use.
I love your builds, Ryan! I can't be the only one to answer your questions out loud, even though you can't hear me. 😄

I catch myself answering him as well. Then I'll ask myself "Why am I talking to Ryan? He can't hear me." lol
I gotta say man, watching you do this living out one of my biggest day dreams is truly inspiring. Keep It up buddy, I look forward to these videos all week :)

Looks great no mistakes and kept all your fingers, keep up the good work
Awesome build all around. Just a side note: imho Thompsons Water Seal sucks. You'll most likely have to re-apply it next year or use a better product.
Hello from the Netherlands .

I’m looking forward to your stairs and porch area so at least you can sit there with a coffee, looking great your man cabin xxx
The first view of the cabin front after you installed the corner caps was astonishing! The hillbilly wonky siding just POPPED! Now I love it more!
👍👍👍
the black lines are the icing on the cake. Really makes it pop.
Always a pleasure watching as I at least learn one new thing with each new video! Tempted to go back and watch from the very beginning to see how things have progressed... You're clearly good with the chainsaw but just as good at the filming and editing, keep at it! Love to see it!
Thompson Waterseal doesn't have any UV protection. I had to use Cedar tone stain to keep my wood from turning dark
Looking good 👍. I’m sure you will enjoy your beautiful home! Thanks for sharing!
Deep dents Ryan, patina. Great video 👍👍
You are so persnickety 😉. This place is amazing-it’s another fun episode. Can’t wait til you’re tucked in there. Gonna be fun watching you trick this place out. An admirer from Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦
Oh Ryan, you do it exactly the way you should do it. I love watching your videos. The cabin is looking awesome!
This new place looks great. Black caulk is awesome.
Blob, blob, blob,....looks good from my house lol! 🤣 Yea, it 'Stumps' me how you can find temporary work table for your planer, and now your boards look planer!!!😂
Amazing beautiful cabin, loving the planner, your cabin is fast becoming epic! Rock on!
Looks great. Stairs should be nice with the logs. Don’t forget your overhang for the front door before all the snow comes .
Hey Ryan, I notice that you seem to always have a nice, crisp new shirt on in your weekly videos...just want to say that I really like this one! lol
Water based polyurethane act like a lacquer, lies on the surface and doesn't penetrate well, three coats dry to a hard durable finish, and coffee stains should just wipe off!
Great work😎👍

And it is so functional!!!
Always great to watch your videos and commentary. Keep up the great work!

Make the stairs look good. This build deserves it.
Another wake and bake with the worm. A+ on finishing the outside! Looks awesome!

In engineering terms, we call that routing the other way…”Climb milling”, going opposite to what you normally would. Works a treat 😁👍🏻🍻
The primary use for Aspen in the UK was for floors in railway coal wagons because it was extremely light and durable in days when the unloading was done by shovel.I put a floor in a boat with aspen and it lasted very well
The back line is cool. Kind of a trademark for Ringworm construction!
The black line is fine.
The black lines look really well on it
Work the black line does look good 😊
I LOVE YOUR PLACE UP THERE. I LIKE THE BLACK CAULK. KEEP IT GOING .
nice little porch would look great on that cabin
Planed and routered wood. What's next crown molding?!?! You've changed Ryan 😆
And we love it all!
Hi, yes, it was very nice. You are good. Have a good one. Sven from Sweden.
Looking good my friend
Happy Thanksgiving my friend
I love your cabin that black sets It Off so beautiful and the routing really made it pop as well you're doing a great job and I love you videos

What kind of caulk ? I hope you haven’t used a non setting mastic, you would regret that until the cabin falls down !!
Your cabin is beautiful !!!
Ok Ryan. My wife wants me to let you know she wants to see a deck on the front of your new cabin. You can purchase a spiral cutter for your wood planer. It has carbide teeth and as it cuts on a spiral it loads the planner less.
Those small logs will make good skirting that you need to stop the wind blowing under the cabin. Cheers
Your honesty and humor r so great! and your creative freedom is infectious/inspiring - best wishes!
What a beauty cabin!
It looks so good!! We were up in the area this past weekend. Lots of snow 😮😮
The spar urthane is good for a table top. I have that covering a oak pallet for an outdoor shower for a few years and looks the same.
I look forward to your video every Saturday. Build on brother!!! Keep em coming
