- It's time to light up the workshop.
The LED Troffer lights www.bunnings.com.au/ledvance-... Ignore the reviews on Bunnings website, they're for a different product entirely - they picked up the wrong box! - Навчання та стиль
So glad to see TWK back and running. Can't want to see what workshop projects are in store.
I put 9 of those in my oversized double garage (7x8m) and never regretted it. I did consider making my own frames, but found some ready to go aluminium frames to suit. I'll definitely be putting these in any future workshops as one of the first jobs. I also put powerpoints in the ceiling and hid the driver on top of the panel and fed the cable through holes in the ceiling.
I have similar LED panels in my workshop. Love them.
Cleaver idea for the frame. Very nice.
After putting mine in I've always said the first thing I'd do in a new shop is ensure the lighting is good. Biggest single and relatively inexpensive change you can make to improve workshop life. Great first step to the new TWK studio shop.
Nice one Paul, good to see the new workshop coming along. I did a simillar upgrade about 18 months ago with some LED fluro's from The Lighting Outet in Sydney. Plug and play, 18w x 2 tibes for 8000 lumens per fitting. Sooo much safer with decent shaddow free light.
To help pay for the lights LOL Thanks
You're far to generous!
Very nice drill press 😂
The reviews on the Bunning site suggest that the lights that they sell, don't match the description and I/N details.
Stupidly, they don't actually stock these at the one and only Bunnings in the town I live in.
There seems to be two very similar lights - the ones in the black boxes are the ones I purchased, the ones in the white boxes seem to match what the reviews say. Other retailers sell them too - search for something like "Ledvance Panel LED 36w", rather than what Bunnings list them
in the same boat, purchased some led batten lights a few months ago for the garage but they are a hardwired version, seeing your setup i should have bit the bullet and gone the bunnings version😥
Hardwired LEDs aren't bad - they're a lot neater for a start! At least with LEDs, they won't need replacing in the next 10 years or so, so by the time my "easy to change" version burn out there will be an entirely different size that won't fit anyway.
Great Choice Paul. I've had them for quite a few years. Replaced eight Fluoro strips which 'Flickered'. Fortunately, all the wiring was there so just a conversion for the new ones. I have mine suspended on chains. As per Pete below. What's the new drill press???
I think if I had more height, chains would have been a good option. I think my ceilings come in at ~2.8m, so dropping down too much lower and I'm likely to smack them every time I go past carrying a board 😂
I'm mostly just mad I didn't discover these lights years ago, they're so great!
New drill press is the Nova Viking. Do I need it? No, but a moving in present to myself! It'll feature a bit more in some batch projects later in the year, right after I get the workshop setup.. and the new cabinets made.. and then the inside jobs... 😭
@@TheWoodKnight Natalie must be a very understanding and forgiving wife. To prioritise the workshop before the house !!! or is the rational that you need the workshop first to be able to have 'Work space', to do the inside jobs 😉🤪
@@cobberpete1 Nat (well, both of us) want cupboards for the laundry (weird house that had none), new doors and drawers for the kitchen (and a few extra cabinets).
I'm starting in the garage so we can both get a good idea of the paint she's picked out (first time HVLP for me!), the style of doors (shaker), and overall cabinet quality including edge banding (splashed out and bought an edge bander for 1mm ABS).
The workshop cabinets will be a full trial run so that inside cabinet construction is a well oiled machine.
At least, thats what I sold her on... ;)
Drill press OP plz nerf!
Adding light in workshops is as important as using a sharp chisel
Just to say though, You should add a lot more light at least for your video purposes
Yes what you now have is better but in truth not good enough for video
It maybe your camera doesn't show the light well, I don't know
Love your channel
