Use to play with a bottle of alcohol and sucked the flame in on purpose and it never exploded. Granted this was the 70's and we played as hard as we partied! In fact back then we had never heard of safety first and we all lived! We had chemical sets and everyone had a knife and even took our guns to school to hunt afterward, and all sorts of dangerous things that are outlawed now. So so sad. Use an upside down Large Plastic Christmas tree stand as your Kitchen cooking stand mold. You want a wide base so it won't tip over. Put a grate over the top to put your pot or pan on.
@@constancerobinson1377 the woman literally said, "you can use it inside during winter..." So yeah, your expectations are a bit high if you're asking for common sense on UA-cam.
@@marthacurry136 yes, there are some who do not have common sense, and even teens could try this. A warning is neccessary. It worth the risk. Just put the caution/warning. Not hard and not long.
Spay some cooking oil on the plastic and it won't stick and come off easily. The small burner will crack with any heat... need to run a wire inside to bind the concrete together. Great ideas and well presented. Thank you
I don't recommend this to be used in the house. The concrete is not very thick. Over time it will get brittle from the flame. And could break apart while using. I've seen it happen. I'd hate to see someone accidently burn down their house.
Hand sanitizer was marked down to 10 cents for a 12 oz bottle. It is 62% alcohol. I bought 20 bottles (only $2.00!) I think this will work well on this project.
This is super cool! Is there a “fine” sort of cement mix that you use? The only kind I seem to be able to find is pretty rocky - lots of small rocks so it doesn’t look as nice.
Oh. You literally saved a friendship. Trying to Declutter I have been stuck here. My friend put all the things I did have categorized but not in any containers in a huge box. He's my roommate, so the result became we aren't speaking and the box was dumped on the floor and I can't get out of bed without crying. I was micromanaging my crafts. This is perfect.
I really would love to make cement items but I can’t lift the bags of concrete to bring them home. For years I’ve want to create with cement, the older I get the least likely that I will be able to do it ☹️🌺💚🙃
If delivery is not an option...take several containers to the store and ask for it to be divided up into more manageable quantities. You can do this !!
I am unable to lift the bags, too, but Lowes put them in my car, a neighbor put the bag in my wheel barrow on my back porch. Now I can take out a little at a time.
I feel like this is something most folks already know. I also feel like there’s going to be someone out there that sets themselves on fire. FYI KIDS- don’t let the rubbing alcohol get on you or anywhere but inside the cement cause it’ll go up in flames too. 🙄
I didn't know about this either; I didn't know that alcohol comes 91% because most are just 3%. I also doubt very many "kids" are clicking on this random video - and if they are - life is filled with dangers but fortunately, we seldom hear of kids lighting themselves on fire. Usually, those are teens who have had little guidance and live for the thrill of being stupid. They will find something dumb to do regardless of this video.
This would be cool to try. Never saw this before. Both ideas are new to me. I especially like the first one. I would love to finish it using sea glass. Maybe put some sea shells in it so you can get that “by the ocean” vibe going. It would be fun to have a tropical themed backyard party with some wonderful “Aloha” music playing. Have people dress in their best and funkiest island wear, sandals/slippers optional. I’m ready to start doing the hula (yeah…right!!).
That was a really great idea. I just don’t think I’d want to use a whole bottle of alcohol to have a nice flame for two hours. These are really great ideas though.
They do sell high temp fireplace mortar, I would probably use that over anything else to be safe! You can get it in tubs premade, or mix water in yourself.
Concrete is very porous and the alcohol will seep thru it, might not want to do this indoors. If you line it with a metal bowl or cup and make the concrete thicker it would be better. Also keep it FAR away from pets and children or places it could be knocked over or sloshed out. Better yet inside a fireplace or outside would be far safer.
You won’t be arrested if you don’t make the fire display. It’s not hot enough to melt plastic, unless you pour alcohol in the seat and light it. “Fumes” aren’t an issue. We used to take alcohol, mix with citronella and never had a mosquito at the outside table.
There won't be many fumes - much less than the fume you breathe when you fill up your car with gasoline! Also, don't stand right over the fire and inhale! SMH
These personal firepits sell for good money online, but the technology has been around , known as sterno , used in food catering. But be very careful as a small alcohol flame is invisible.
This seems to be dangerous. #1 cement is very porous, it will soak up the alcohol and the whole thing might burn; #2 don't place on a table, the bottom of the cement will be extremely hot and leave a mark, and if is a glass top, it could shatter due to the heat. I would consider taking this video down due to the danger and possibility of someone getting hurt and sueing you.
I would think that any kind of grain alcohol or rum would work. Something that’s like 80 or 90 proof. I’m not sure how long the flame will last though. I’d only try this outdoors to be honest! Safety is most important!
How is this negligence? Using fireplaces, wood stoves, even candles, tiki torches, oil lamps carry a risk. Children playing with open flames - prime example of negligence.
Honestly I can't see the necessity for involving the Fire Department. My complex doesn't allow fire pits but kerosene lamps aka hurricane lamps are a must because hurricanes.
