Yes it was but so did the Ronettes and the Supremes among many other groups. More than two great singers mostly.

I enjoyed the last clip where they sung "Please Mr. Postman" and "Don't Mess With Bill" simply because they looked much more sophisticated and I also like how the Supremes were admiring them in the panel. Motown was a big second family. It's was the thing way back in the day!
Even the Beatles appreciated Motown and covered some of their songs.
They were always big fans of American Blues and Soul. They covered Please Mr. Postman as well. In his Book Inside My Life (1987) The Miracles met The Beatles who were delighted to meet them. Also when The Tempations arrived in England in 1964 The Beatles sent them a welcome telegram.
