I love how cap got so distracted with the summary at the end that he missed a mako salvo that took out a 055😂
All the words, all the things....
@@LukeBunyip A teaching moment... :)
Welcome to Cap's distraction movement.
You do not need to know things. Mostly the things Cap says, you do or do not need to know. Until he says so.
Smiley face with a wink inserted here.
Where did the 055 got taken out?
The PLAN getting punked literally at the last minute is pure comedy gold.
I swear cap should be a sports announcer. You bring so much more energy and excitement and it really enhances the experience of watching these battles. Even the pauses for tea convey how much exited you are.
Ha! yeah. It was like listening to the horseracing
Auctioneer for military aircraft LOL
Love the idea! Seriously.
Adding another idea. Cap using his voice to make building LEGO's for children. My goodness it would have it been awesome at the time!
A red carrier get hit,
Cap “GOOOOOOOAAAL,”
The AIM 174 B is in service...the Navy announced it the other day.....they are breaking her in at RIMPAC 2024....These naval battles keep getting better...👉🏻
How many can the Hornet carry?
@@christopherchartier3017 2 I think, due to weight, and pylon size.
@@thatwormhole1760oh. Well, it’s better than nothing I guess. Hopefully the F-15EX can carry more
@@christopherchartier3017 Max is 5 by size and weight, 2 under each wing and 1 centerline. But it most likely cannot land with 5 on a carrier due to weight. Normal is expected to be 4 heavy load, 2 normal load with 2 external tanks. This is from a recent Sandboxx video on the AIM-174B.
How will these jets work when us aircraft carrier are sunk?
This is the fight we were all waiting for.
Go team UK 🇬🇧
... i suppose team US can tag along and help a little too.
Keep talking smack vs the US and we might have to toss your tea into the ocean again. 😂❤
Lol yeah
Sounds like both World Wars in a nutshell!
Basically `MAKO and AIM 260 are not in service as of now and probably will not be in service with the numbers used in this scenerio... while china currently fields 8 type 055 with its carrier fleet and probably 4-8 more in 2027 giving it a lot more punch in offence.
@hallo84 and can you confirm how many "working" missiles they have? Or working launchers?
The China record isn't great.
The UK and US has the same problems too, but that was back in the 70's and 80's.
The chinese losing another ship to the makos at 53:40 and cap not seeing it was too funny, also would love to see a 2030 series
Perfectly timed to "my brain is just mush at the moment."
The PLAN getting punked literally at the last minute is pure comedy gold.
Honestly you could start selling at auctions 😆
Big difference is this, this represents 100% of Russian Carriers, 100% of Chinese Fujians (they could have two more Kuze class carriers)... While only representing 50% of the British QE class and 10% of US Nimitz class (still have a Ford class), so even a perfect trade that costs the "blues" more money is still a strategic victory for the "blues"
I’d love to see a video of….100% US strength vs 100% Chinese + Russian just to see….how overwhelmed the Reds would get
@@mike_y0st another vote for this
@@mike_y0st I don't think DCS will run a 100% USN fleet.
@@FlyingWithSpurts Yeah... That is like, 70 Arleigh Burkes...
Yeah. That would awesome. But the game can't handle that scale, unfortunately.
Man i sure do love these big Red v Blue carrier battles!
Thanks for doing these, it really gives a perspective on what modern pitched naval warfare might potentially look like, which can be hard for many of us as most of it takes place beyond visual range anyway. Showing it in these simulations with this much detail and work put into it is really helpful and greatly fascinating and enjoyable to watch. So Kudos to you man!
Never mind the CPU being over worked, I think Cap’s brain had broke by about the time the QE was hit 😂
Cap had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This was awesome! Good thing we have 12 carriers.
I have no idea what I just watched or how I ended up here but……. Go BLUE!! I just watched the whole thing 😂
So, taking into account the whole series, it seems that the Western offence is strongest, with Britain impressing in particular. The Russians also seem to have improved (if only by a little), and the American Mako seems nigh on unstoppable, as does the UK Spear 3 and Spear 5 combo. The semi-ballistic hypersonics like the Zircon and YJ-21 do seem to struggle to get a consistent PK, and maybe that's fairly realistic, what with missile failure rates and jamming.
I would love to see Indian, French, Thai and mixed Spanish/Japanese/Italian groups make appearances in battles. Loving the series, can't wait for the next series. I would love to see Type 31e, VLS launched LRASM in particular.
Maybe it could be a one-off, but have you thought of trying a series of engagements between CSGs? Many of these carriers can fire their weaponry from much longer ranges - the YJ-21 is a great example. You could have a long range engagement, then use whichever vessels survive (assuming the carrier is still operational) face off in a closer range battle. I'd love to know if this is feasible, if not, don't worry!
If I could ask for one thing, I'd love to see a Type 31e frigate for the UK, with CAMM-MR and CAMM-ER dual-packed and quad-packed in its Mk41 VLS respectively. I think that the medium range potential of these weapons could really bolster the British defence, without going as far as to bring in the Type 83s this early.
Loving the videos Cap!
I love the concept of the Spear 3. It's basically a decoy, but it's one that will rough you up a bit if you ignore it.
Boy do I have good news for you - Admiral189 has been working on Italian CSG assets and will release them any day now! I hope CH will do the weapons, otherwise GR unfortunately might not consider them.
Well I'm sure u know that's not a zircon missile
@@AMOUREDD there isn't a graphical representation of the 3M22 Zircon in DCS yet, so basically they make the P-800 just fly faster and change the way it behaves. It's the same thing for when DCS models the Fujian Chinese aircraft carrier - you will notice it's actually an American Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, because DCS at this time also does not have a graphical representation of the fujian
Its fun, but this simulation don't showcase the 100% capability of US forces more likely due to limitations in DCS. In real life though there is still JASSM/LRASM and NSM/JSM, air-launched SM-6 or AIM-174B, AARGM-ER that can also be used for anti-ship role, maybe even SiAW. MALD decoys too and StormBreaker (SDB II) which is the US equivalent of Spear 3. Patriot PAC-3 MSE also are gong to be dual pack into Burke's Mk 41 VLS.
I wouldn't mind watching a Realistic Naval battle even as just a one off experiment...maybe you can hype it up as a 'war game/simulation' if you want to attract some viewer attention. Or if that's too boring, perhaps some kind of specific mission simulation. Like maybe a coordinated bomber strike against a chinese carrier group, or a one on one surface duel between two surface vessels, or a combined arms operation in support of an amphibious landing, or you know some kind of unique mission setting like that could be pretty cool as well.
I'm surprised that the MIG-29s lasted so long, both in operation and in combat
They have been over-performing in this series, no idea why, I haven't changed them.
@@grimreapers If they're modeled after the MiG-29KR/K/MiG-29M2, I guess they're working. The Indians and Egyptians seem to like theirs.
@@grimreapers how about the upgraded Zumwalt class capable of carrying 12 hypersonic missiles ?
@grimreapers since it is a game,can u simulate these.
2 US CSG vs 1 CHINA CSG and hypersonic missile barrage
Honestly I think the fight would have been a lot more... adrenalin based if USA and China didn't try to engage the supersonics going for their allies. I feel a large majority of the US net was wasted and that was the reason Britain was still able to defend themselves at the end while USA had nothing left.
Still a jaw dropping mission, held my breath during parts of it.
but it is realistic. In real life howevr the allies would win the air war at much further distances, meaning that they would win by just launching makos while the chinese and russians could do nothing. especially becuase russian air defense irl is much worse and the mako can manouever unlike russian and chinese hypersonics.
A valued simulation.
Cheers!
The US Navy is trying to field the new MACE anti ship missile by 2027. It’s like a longer range spear 3.
Yup already working on it for 2030 battle.
@@grimreapers If there is anything in the rumor mill for REDFOR to have in that timeframe put those on the checklist as well
does china have any new weps in the pipeline for the 2030+ timeframe besides more carriers?
@@grimreapers You’re the best!
@@hertzwave8001 They were said to have scrapped the new e-radar so something has to be in the works to replace it. They are working on making the missile work better on stealth too from the last leak that had a lot of details right about the aircraft changes.
28:02 "It's too big, there's too much, it's too pookoo, there's not enough foo foo!" poetry, truly
But seriously these battles with Cap's commentary are more exciting than any football game
Outstanding!!!
DCS must not have the best AI because it feels hard to believe that stealth aircraft with longer ranged missiles would ever fall to 4th gen aircraft
Have you considered an AMBUSH series. For example A not currently war torn Russia launches an attack on Alaska coast to take out material outpost, and or vice versa the US launches an attack on the Crimean peninsula. Similar scenarios could work for locations in the South China Sea.
Focus on near peer conflict with overwhelming support. Could be a 2 fold series of Defense and Counter Account to recoup beachheads.
Crimean Peninsula could also go with EU surprise attack for a theme as well.
Enjoyed that!
Nothing I don't like with DCS when it comes to the F-35 is it doesn't use its electronic warfare nor does it use the decoy
EW just isn't modelled properly at all in DCS. Both China and the US have dedicated EW aircraft which would make a big difference to the accuracy of long range missiles.
My initial thought is doing the long-range/milsim/tactical battles. It sounds like the 2030s stuff is getting built in the background and ready in the winter, anyways. In this last battle series the 5th gens are sort of programmed to run in to one another, but having AWACS, tankers, maybe some P8s looking for subs between the two carriers while stealth pops in and out would be something new and exciting. Maybe releasing a 30-45 minute action packed video and a full-length director's cut version of those would be nice.
This is like watching a sports match. Absolute enjoyment.
A real US vs China carrier battle would include the USAF B1s and B21s firing tons of Lrasms long before the carriers got in range of each other.
True, that’s why the videos are entertainment, not factual. It’s just comparing the assets available to carrier groups only
If you're going to include B1/B-21 then you have to start adding Chinese H-6J etc.
@@grimreapers I mean if your PC don't explode why not?
@@hawk2222 Probably because, as he's stated before, several times, long range "off map" fights that include ordinance fired at well over stand-off range doesn't make for a good video.
Yes. You could theoretically put a full U.S. Carrier Battle Group against a full Chinese Carrier Battle Group, but given just how one sided that would be, that doesn't make for entertainment. It makes for a stomp. This is meant to be fun, not a tactical display of each countries "truest capabilities." I think people are mistaking what Cap does here as military strategy instead of what it actually is... entertaining.
@@grimreapersdefinitely
The video of all videos has arrived!!! Thank you
Great job Cap !!
Don't forget if this battle happens far enough away from friendly places to land and you lose the aircraft carrier, you also lose ALL the planes it launched as well.
Even with fully comp the insurance company would make you take a Cessna 172 as a courtesy
This was like a knife fight. No one wins, you just loose less.
Bro just described a US-China war
once the fancy stuff dries out, and the real attrition of war sets in...yeah it pretty much is a loose-loose.
its just becomes a matter of who looses more than the other.
@@livethefuture2492 thats basically what would happen if any of the 3 superpowers went to war. People like to fear monger by saying "tensions are higher than ever" or that "(insert superpower)'s new weapon would anniahlate (insert superpower 2)!" Even though, all3 countries are not going to go to war because they know they would nearly gauranteed lose their superpower status and more than half their military if they went to war, not to mention the threat of nuclear weapons.
@@MilitaryTechNerd006 I think there's only two superpowers right now maybe India in 20 years time will make it three. Russia's just nukes everything else is .......
@MilitaryTechNerd006 I mean to be fair there is arguably two super powers and one that tries to punch above it's weight class. Arguably the two superpowers are the US and China , then you have Russia who used to be a superpower but since the quality of their forces have been shown to be extremely poor as of late they have dropped from that status and try to punch above their weight class.
Love it when you get excited!
Oh hell yeah! What a battle! Great work GR, just f;in great. Yes to the 2030 battle! and of course, a realistic one too!
You do such great work Cap/GR it's your own fault we want it all :) Luv ya!
Epic…absolutely epic.
Is it too much to ask for both? I'd like to see this series continue, as is, projecting further into the future. But I'd also be interested in more realistic carrier scenarios. Something like, more of the former with a bit of the latter sprinkled in as time allows with no real pressure. Just my 2 cents.
Loved this!! Would like to see the “real life” sim that cap mentioned though. That would be interesting to see how the fleet would really do it. Keep up the stellar work 👍🏻
Great battle!
Spectacular!
That was so much fun to watch.
I know that takes a lot of effort and time on your part so thank you very much.
NGAD and missiles! Definitely want more of these!
This is the one I've been waiting for!!
Awesome battle so much boom boom. ❤
Brilliant!
Love the commentary.
Damn fine entertainment Cap! Thank you!
Interesting battle. Great commentary.
Can't wait to see this one!!
That was fun!
I like the realistic battles Cap.
Brilliant
Another great battle
How is "WORDS AND STUFF AND THINGS ARE HAPPENING" not on a t-shirt?
Very impressive!
Wow, nice!
That aircraft battle in the beginning was very fun to watch.
I don’t watch sports and I just realized this fills that niche in my life. Thanks Cap!🎉
Great video, Cap.
Man i feel like if the US didnt try to intercept for the UK and let them just defend themselves they would have had more SM-6's and might have been able to defeat most of the missiles and saved a few ships. I also find it very odd why the blue team performed that badly in the air to air fight. No way in hell the J-35 is as good as they say and as good as the F-35 and what is with the PL-15 kill percentage vs the blue air to air missiles. Their PL-15 cannot be that much superior in kill per shot.
in all fairness russia did waaay better in the last video than the paper stats say against china. compounding that with the results being able to vary quite a bit in different games makes things very interesting
More likely its DCS limitations. Also if I remembered correctly cap buffed up J-35 otherwise it won't be fun he said on an older video. Or I may be wrong.
PL15s are actually extremely good at ranges between 20-50nm because they are basically burning the entire time.
@@hughmungus2760 yeah but so are AIM 260s and they miss a lot more in DCS... Actually they burn longer and go further so that doesn't really make sense/.
I would personally love to get the realistic battles. It would be very interesting to know how realistic carrier combat works.
They could always accelerate the time during slower sections.
Also I did some reading on the specs. the Mako only has a warhead of around 60kg and travels slightly faster than mach 5. This is about the same as the R37, somehow I just don't see how something on the scale of the R37 could actually sink a 80,000ton carrier
There's a book series called Axis of Time, about a modern Carrier fleet being sent back in time to 1942. One of the ships is a French cruiser armed with cruise missile ends up in the hands of the Japanese. In the second book, they use it to disable all the defences at Pearl harbour, leading a way to a Japanese invasion. Would love to see a recreation of that in DCS.
Cap was spitting absolute BARS! Great job man, rest your voice. You earned it
Wanna express my honest appreciation for this excellent entertainment.
This is exactly, what I love about sports and commentary.
Best regards from Germany
thx
WOW! Just One Of The Best SIMS Yet!
This was one of your best videos ever! I appreciate so much the work you do to give us such awesome videos.
I’d personally love to see a one-off throwback to some of your older videos-the CVN v. Star Destroyer ones. They’re part of what brought me to the channel in the first place, so seeing a current or near future carrier group in that scenario would be very cool. Other than that, I’ll vote for the next iteration of carrier battles. It’s not realistic, but it sure is fun to watch.
Why no LRASM? They're absolutely going to be in use, and in MUCH greater numbers, in 2027 & beyond. And, apparently, like Constellations will have NSM, Arleigh Burke are to add canister launchers on-deck which can fire LRASM (among other things) to make up for some of the VLS tube difference after all Tico cruisers are fully retired.
And how about HALO & HACM? They're both different programs, and both apart from MAKO.
I'm just getting better results with MAKO than LRASM.
@@grimreapers cant wait for the C-3 Variant😮💨
@@grimreapers That's a good reason. One might say the best reason. Thanks for the response!
I think you should do some videos with smaller battles like it would be interesting to see 1 arleigh Burke go against 1 052
Another idea would be to do a war series where there are different battles and some either lean to the advantage of the US or China and they are tallied to show who would win in the different theaters of war. These could be ground and naval battles and they could be long range or close range. Ex a US submarine engaging with Chinese ballistic missiles that are land based
Two things I heard from sources for before 2030: YJ-18 has terminal pull up and Burke III is supposed to be able to carry more ESSMs
Thanks.
Maybe in between the 2030s carrier group and this current iteration. You could do a 90’s carrier group battle US versus Russia, including the Kirov on Russian team and the Iowa on US team. It would just be a fun little throwback.
In response to your query, I'd love to see more realistic long-range engagements. Just a thought, maybe they actually wouldn't be so long if you allowed yourself to speed up certain boring periods. I agree the close-up slug fests are cool, but I always find myself wondering how things would turn out with more realistic tactics, as much as you could simulate, anyway. For example (of many) it kills me to see Mako enter theater in small batches after watching China and Russia pretty much throw in everything at once. I think the longer format, if better applied tactics, would be a superior video. But with that said, would you need to ask NCIS for permission? Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope all is well on that front. Thanks for all you do. You are my main media content source. My fav streaming entertainment.
Awesome play by play! Grim Reapers naval battles is better than any sports match!
I would watch a realistic version of this.
I would love to see a realistic battle, even if it was only a one-off USA+UK vs Russia+China, as it would show a much more accurate image of which nation's gear is better.
I think realistic tactics carrier battle would make a great video and i would love to see. My first thought was the range advantage of the tomahawks, fired from far away long in advance they might not be arriving to the battle so long after the red missiles like in the short range battles. But if its as slow as cap made it out to be it might not be the most watchable series to do every combination of red v blue. Excited to see either way. And definitely looking forward to the 2030's updated carrier groups.
if commanded by a human player, the fleets can properly assess the threat and react proportionately. If they see a flight of slow tomahawks coming the player could command all but one ship to hold fire to conserve ammo.
Cap, you’ve missed your calling as a Mexican Fũtball commentator.
GREEEAAT video!!! This should be made into a movie
lol
In a way, this video is super optimistic. It presumes that China and Russua will still have functional economies, that the USA hasn't descended into myopic isolationism, and that the UK still has a functional carrier. Heyo!😅
Thank you Super Cap for all the work you put into these Wargames for us to enjoy! Yoeman's Work indeed!
oh no this fight is gonna be crazy
Who would have thought, Lofoten in the center of so many conflicts. 😅
Agreed
This was a fantastic video! Very intense the whole time!!!
Love the passion and commitment you put into these. Thank you!
Not a sports fan but man I was watching this like people watch the Super bowl or the world cup hahaha love this series
I have been loving this series I cant wait for the 2028 instalment with new tech such as the AIM-174B, HALO ASM and maybe the Peregrine AAM/ASRAAM for the US
the AIM-9x block 2 is specially built for the f-35 in that it is stealth along with its pylon. tests have shown it doesn't increase RCS at all. is it possible to integrate this into the game?
MATE has anxiety issues 😂😂
I think the future series would be more entertaining, but I really like most of your battles regardless, this one was one of the greats though!
Dude, you always have a job as an auctioneer. Awesome commentary!❤
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant battle - thanks Cap!! 🎉
Wow a lot of thought and work went into setting this up.
Halfway through I'm wondering what will give out first, the cpu or the voice???
Good luck!
Something else thats important to note here. The US has a lot more undamaged CSGs to use again. Thats Russia's only carrier, and China's is irreplaceable. That spells a lot of trouble for the long term for Red here.
Gotta love how the Hornets get one last MAKO jab in on a Type 55 at the very end
Both sound great I love ure channel
Love the passion and energy in this one. Never change.
The thing is that a Russian 2027 carrier group doesn't exist, yesterday the postponed their repair date of the only Russian carrier, the Kuznetzov, it's repairs have been postponed from finishing in 2024 to 2028,
they're still trying? i thought they had officially written it off.
Brilliant match. Love the commentary. It's funny how the red team lost 2 carriers and still the blue team almost matched them in cost.
i would love to see a realistic version of this exact scenario!
ideally with human admirals commanding each fleet
Fantastic series this. Great fun. The only thing I'd say is the Meteor has been nerfed WAY too much.
I had a lot of people claiming it was OP so we've slowly been nerfing it until people stopped complaining. It's a tough balance.
@@grimreapers it possibly was a little bit OP, but when you did that testing it was in comparison to the other missiles at the time. From memory, it was one of the first "GR" missiles you guys created so comparing it to stuff like the 120C it would appear massively OP (because it is), but then comparing to things like the 260 et al, shows it's now underpowered. Even including the modern missiles it's still apparently (according to Wiki, MBDA, and a few others) got the largest NEZ on the market. Appreciate the top speed is likely less than them and range probably a little bit less, but it's still a top tier missile.
Alright, hear me out: exact same battle except there are no teams. America vs Britain vs China vs Russia. Mass chaos.
Also, this was a very fun video to watch!
The carrier point defense should be able to handle a couple of leaked misiles .. rolling air frame (42) essm(16) phalanx(3) great video as always😃
2030s CBG battles please! These 2027 ones were insane amounts of fun!
Wooowwwww ..... Truly commendable work on all of those that helped putting this battle together ,, Unbelievable quality in preparation , setting up and running of the battle .... Cap deserves a goddam medal for the narration,,,, Was well worth the almost 54 minutes watching time ......
