I just switched to PC from console about 4 months ago and I have yet to try comp/trials because I can never tell if someone is actually an amazing sniper or a cheating bastard :( I love playing on PC but it's never fun for me in that aspect.
If you aren't sure, they're probably just better than you. People are waaay too quick to call cheats in Destiny IMO.

It's literally just 100 int and geomags, that's all you need. Just switch to geomags when you got a 5th of your super to charge, use it whenever, and cancel before it's over to retain around 1/3rd of your energy

This is literally why I won’t even touch trials with a 100-foot stick. Not only do I have to worry about legitimate players railing me every time but I also have to deal with cheaters.
