Surprisingly good! The engine/transmission crumpled and went under the drivers compartment effectively, no serious passenger cell damage, the front end crumpled very well, and you might still be able to open the doors!
@Jay350iV12 No, I owned one and I also had some bad crashes, the car stood good and needed only minor repairs it was a tough car but ironically at age 13 she was rusted beyound repair a damn shame because the concept was great I saw your pictures, those cars look damn new. Great shape despite theyr age.. Did you repaired that badly crashed car? Great work! Good lord You must have been lucky that night because you nearly hitted that concrete pole
@215alessio No i did not repaired the white E30, i bought the beige one instead. And it was a friend of mine driving my car, i wasnt inside when it happened, but hell yeah it was a big luck to avoid the crash with the pole. My english is not so good but i feel a little irony in your comment, right? If it is so, just think about it, those cars are from 83 and 86, and they had only minor rust. Other cars from that age are much more rusted through, like audi 80s, fiats, opels etc

@BeachBum88m that car? that specific model? or did you mean the newest model anyway if that car saved your life any car would have saved your life (exept citroen 2cv or vw beetle)
@215alessio For 1984, this was a safe vehicle. BMW would not bring an unsafe vehicle to market (well, except the Isetta, but that was a 1950s/early 1960s vehicle) March 18, 2011 3:25 am (hehe, 325i is a BMW model)
@215alessio classified by who? you? I've bought an E30 5 years ago, and after it crashed into a building at 120km/h and everybody got out uninjured, there's no question for me that it is safe or not! You can check the crash test documentations also on the internet, (1990 318is) if you don't believe this video.
@BrunostNOR Size doesn't always matter, fiat had better crumble zones and a steering axle that didn't penatrate the drivers body many bmw drivers died because they were penetrated by the steering axle. and Bmw is eurpean to see also Volvo vs renault
@215alessio that was a frontal impact into a garage's brickwall! check the pictures here in my blog: powerfanatics . com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=401&postdays=0&postorder=desc&start=100 they had to demolite the garage down to the ground to build it back together after the crash. BTW Fiat Ritmo?? c'mon brother those cars all are rusted away i can't see a damn piece running on the roads nowadays, you can't compare that shitbox to an E30... I'm sorry if you own one, its nothing personal...
@Jay350iV12 If this car survived the crash into a bulding the ones I named shurely would do hit it sideways or on a frontal offset and it will rip open! that's the reality
@Jay350iV12 how can a car that is classified one of the unsafest car ever be the safest in the 80's? what about Fiat Regata, Golf MK2, Volvo 440, mercedes 123 Brainwashed by bmw propaganda, in real crash tests the always ripped open or the steering wheel crushing the driver

Doskonały wynik :)
How has the frame of a BMW evolved since the eighties and what innovations has been picked up by other car manufacturers?
for a car that is almost 30 years old, it does better than most cars today, even without modern safety systems and airbags

What was the speed of this test?

March 18, 2011 3:25 am (hehe, 325i is a BMW model)
where was this footage found?
@215alessio how was it safer? it was probably equally safe as Fiat and BMW were both safety leaders of the earlier 1980s.

@Jay350iV12 I worked in a caryard and saw many wrecked BMW mostly ripped open, saw also wrecked fiats and other brands holding theyr integrity better
this was the unsafest car in the world. don't get fooled by this test, it was just a commercial
@Jay350iV12 yes shureeeeeee, it was as strong as alumiumfoil
@whattheheck1000 Forgot to say, my Fiat Ritmo (strada) was way safer than this BMW model and it was a model of 1980

@215alessio their*
1 dislike because destroyed
That specific model. The van was a Econoline E250 doing at least 45MPH.
I doubt a more poorly designed car would have fared as well.
Lol, troll?
This car saved my life when a van T-boned me doing 45+. I walked away with minor cuts and bruises.
