Okey so i think you didn't inform very well about this topic and I'm gonna make a clarification, the upgrade to premium box does not give you full TF2 premium but only parcially You can trade, get a huge backpack, get rare items drop, but you can't talk, vote kick or use voice commands without spending money on steam

I could be wrong but according to a commenter in this video, the Upgrade to Premium gift allows you to trade, get rare item drops, and a bigger backpack, etc. But for whatever reason if you upgrade with premium with the gift you are still not allowed to talk in game and use the vote system. My best guess as to why is because the change to keep F2P accounts from communicating was too rushed and they didnt change the code for the upgrade to premium to account for that. The free way doesn't let you communicate, I have a bunch of accounts and tried it on one myself. They were for case storage.

How to check if you are a premium player? Is it written somewhere that someone is a premium or just a normal player?
if you have 250 inventory slots you're premium, if you only have 50 you're not premium, if you can chat you're premium and if you can't you aren't
