I can imagine how much more useful to have that special USB connection for the Note 7 or any other micro USB cellphones, tablets and iPads to easily be able to connect a USB PS4, XBOX One and mobile controllers to your cellphone for emulators and other games on your mobile devices
For the CD drive, that was a USB-Y cable it came with, which means the power from one standard USB port 2.0 port (the OTG coverts Type-C to 2.0) is not enough. You'd need to connect an extra USB power source to the other cable, or use a different CD drive. That's why it would only turn on but not read.
can you give links or names to all the stuff you used in this vid.. i want to buy everything you had for my n7. the light the fan the opticaldrive etc plss
you are right, as long as your phone supports otg. my $100 phone can do almost all of the things in this video. only the hdd and i guess the cd drive too are not working on my phone since it needs an external power source to run those.
+Czajka go and f yourself with your iPhone that is a piece of crap 2016 is the beginning of the android era I switched form iPhone In 2016 BC iPhone is the past tehnicaly and usability wise!!! I switched did you? 😆
The iPhone 7 will NOT come with USB C and even if you're about to plug a keyboard into an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch it won't work. Sandisk has USB Flash Drives that work with iPad 4 and up, iPod Touch 5G and up, and iPhone 5 and up.
1.You might be addicted to selfies and want to take some in the dark with somewhat decent lighting. 2.You might want to use the flashlight for extended periods but don't want to overheat your phone. 3.They are mostly brighter that the phone's native flash light and light distribution is broader making them good side lamps. 4.Some usb flashlights come with a physical switch so you can conserve your phone's battery life with out disconnecting it from OTG, so with that in mind you might want that instant side lamp without going the long route to unlock your phone, pull the drop down menu and toggle the flash light. some phones have the flash light toggle even deeper than that, some don't even have a flash light toggle and requires you to download a third party app from the play store or use google now. so a USB flash light is a bit underrated if you ask me, there's so much convenience having it around in your drawer
very interesting can I hook it up to my endoscope? I'm serious I have an endoscope will it work? And no I don't use it for that I use it for inspecting in between rafters Kama gutters etcetera etcetera etcetera
+Noureddine Amri no there will be some power loss due to resistance and a phone can't charge a power bank completely because of a comparatively smaller battery.
OK anyone. please spell it out in crayon very SD lowly (sorry)I just bought a s7active. I want to some how attach it to my vizio smart tv and watch what's on my phone on my 75" without WIFI. PLease hold the sarcasm (which I find humorous in good taste) until I get an exact straight answer please? What do I need? Where do I purchase? What is the top of the line to purchase for this?
connect usb hub to otg and you can build own mini computer. in the field i use passive usb hub too connect mouse, card reader and usb stick to do photo backup from my camera.
if you can connect your go pro to your note 7 via OTG, can you stream it live using the go pro app? will it have less lag then using the normal go pro's built in WiFi? can you make a demonstration video on it and how to do it if so?
Connect a fan....best tip ever....Other then the stupid fan I was wondering what that thing was good for. Good video. USB Lan adapter is actually a really good idea.
+VlogTimes #Creative Sorry bro if it hurts . u were right .i wana ask u that what is the price of this portable disk reader and what is its technical name thanx in advance
CD readers, external Hard Drives and some large capacity flash sticks probably will not work 100% as they require too much power from a humble smart phone USB connector. This has been a know issue with ordinary laptops for years. The manufacturers just don't allow the socket to supply the correct amount of current (USB 2 = 0.5A, USB3 = 0.9A). You're lucky if you can get 0.3A. That's why the USB CD reader comes with 2x USB A connectors as often one can't supply enough power. The trick to get them to work is to use a powered USB hub however.
ive tried even more with my sony, so miss some things , you also can connect IR adapter , LAN adapter, midi(like piano) . gamepad etc.. about description some phone do less some more it depend android ver brand and more
Ur HDD is not corrupted,it is NTFS formated(by default if u have not changed). And android supports only FAT32 format. Try formatting it in FAT32 format. Surely it will work.
usb on the go only supports fat32 file system .....the hard drives uses ntfs which windows uses and also other mac file system wont work buy new hard drive upto 2tb and format it on pc to fat32 system and you can use it on otg on most mobile phone same reason cd couldn't be read as it uses non fat32 file system
will this also work with samsung galaxy s6 edge+? I've already transferred files with the USB A to micro usb adapter and stuck that into a flash drive that had a sim card input. (basically, I didn't have a laptop around and wanted to bypass it) Used my 64gig SD from my old phone and copy>pasted all my important files(contacts, apps, photos, music, documents, etc) and it worked just fine.
spoke too soon as I wasn't finished with the video. Anyways, j just wanted to know if all of the other stuff would work. I don't see why j it wouldn't.
Oh and also, when hooking up the Web cam do you have the recording features that you do with the regular camera is. slow mothin, 360 view, panoramic, and other effects?
DVD ROM, HDD were not corrupted. They required more power than your phone can supply check out your phone and optical and HDD drive requirments. I have checked that.
Those hard drives are most likely just in NTFS type format which is a Microsoft owned format. Google should really stop having Android say that NTFS drives are corrupt and need formatting. (NTFS can work if phone is rooted and you run a 3rd party program to allow access to NTFS type storage). The exFAT type format would have been allowed on the Android Phone but then it might not work with your smart TV (like my 2014 Philips TV) if you want to be safe and have your mobile storage universally supported you need to format in
Google does allow NTFS. Nexus and Huawei flagships read/write NTFS perfectly. Problem is that most smartphone manufacturers block it. Samsung is no exception.
Cool all that things but the most of them are useless for the normal user, ty for made it!! :) with this video i want this smartphone!! thumb up for u!! :)
+VlogTimes #Creative i get it that you need to format it to read it in android but does it format in ntfs format? because when i tried to connect my ntfs drive it didn't got detected hence i installed the above said apps on my s7 edge
+VlogTimes #Creative excellent video though. thanks for showing us the prowess of the galaxy's i would like to point out here is that it is also possible to transfer data from galaxy to other phone via otg
Good presentation on what OTG connector does. BTW on #4 the actual reason is because android doesn't support any other file format than FAT that is why it wont read your portable drives.
2:34 when you forget there's an LED light on your phone...
I can imagine how much more useful to have that special USB connection for the Note 7 or any other micro USB cellphones, tablets and iPads to easily be able to connect a USB PS4, XBOX One and mobile controllers to your cellphone for emulators and other games on your mobile devices

all these items are regulars one. just purchase any of them available at your locality.
Thank for showing some of these tips I pre-order the note 7 the Blue Coral and got it last Friday I love it so far
Should i buy portable optical drive from online??? Do u prescribe it?
i would like to say this is all because of android, not just the OTG cable.
Without the phone supporting USB-OTG it won't work.
But I will still stick with my iPhone. Lol
you are right, as long as your phone supports otg. my $100 phone can do almost all of the things in this video. only the hdd and i guess the cd drive too are not working on my phone since it needs an external power source to run those.

not all android devices can charge other phones even with otg enabled
Hey cool demo, I have a question will be able play videos from the hard drive? or compact flash drive?
It will play your files via USB yes.
Thx to that otg cable (good company/high quality one)
I'm using the Note 7 now and really happy with it. I'm curious if this will work with ios when the new iPhone 7 comes out with it's c connector.
Why would you use the usb lights when you have a built in flashlight?
You might be a vlogger and want the extra lighting
1.You might be addicted to selfies and want to take some in the dark with somewhat decent lighting.
2.You might want to use the flashlight for extended periods but don't want to overheat your phone.
3.They are mostly brighter that the phone's native flash light and light distribution is broader making them good side lamps.
4.Some usb flashlights come with a physical switch so you can conserve your phone's battery life with
out disconnecting it from OTG, so with that in mind you might want that instant side lamp without going the long route to unlock your phone, pull the drop down menu and toggle the flash light. some phones have the flash light toggle even deeper than that, some don't even have a flash light toggle and requires you to download a third party app from the play store or use google now. so a USB flash light is a bit underrated if you ask me, there's so much convenience having it around in your drawer
the usb lights can be brighter
+Mazwi Zwane note 7 selfie has flash though
Johnny Patrick LEDs will always be brighter than a display
does that come with the phone?
Dude I was doing these with my S2 already :D So, this exists since 2010 or even older...
I have been doing this in my Note 5. Thanks for the heads up.
very interesting can I hook it up to my endoscope? I'm serious I have an endoscope will it work? And no I don't use it for that I use it for inspecting in between rafters Kama gutters etcetera etcetera etcetera
Thanks for video.. what about print paper?
11. You can charge your power bank with the smartphone 😂😂#Usefull
and then charge the smartphone back with the power bank, that way you have infinite power
+Noureddine Amri I tryed it, after the 4. recharge of my handy qas the bank after 3% off
+Noureddine Amri ... ohms or resistance exists and power is lost at about a 10% rate..
What is the top of the line to purchase for this?
hey from where did u purchase the type c otg adapter & for how much ? Thanks
tht was included with note 7.
connect usb hub to otg and you can build own mini computer. in the field i use passive usb hub too connect mouse, card reader and usb stick to do photo backup from my camera.
7:37 reminds of the time when windows phone tells you to "Insert installation CD and restart", I didn't think it would have went THAT far!
You have forgotten the most important thing: A game controller!
Yes! My PS3 controller will connect with the cable, or Bluetooth.
These work fine. :)
if i connect my mouse can i use it for fps games on my phone?
+derek khor only very few apps actually support fps gaming with mouse. One example is quake3 for android
+Keith Upton Do you use root to connect it via Bluetooth though?
if you can connect your go pro to your note 7 via OTG, can you stream it live using the go pro app? will it have less lag then using the normal go pro's built in WiFi? can you make a demonstration video on it and how to do it if so?
This is by far the most informative Note 7 video I've seen! BRAVO!
what about a small usb microphone? you think that will work?
and you forgot also about using an external sound card as microphone for Screen Recording?? Will it work?
It's the same with S6 edge? or only with S7?
RIP Note 7
Connect a fan....best tip ever....Other then the stupid fan I was wondering what that thing was good for. Good video. USB Lan adapter is actually a really good idea.
check ur things before making a video ( CD & HDD)
i totally agree
It works. Check here ua-cam.com/video/Bxod4pIusro/v-deo.html

can you install anything from cd to mobile?
hard disk can be sopported by changing the format NTFS to exfat..
Looks like you made up my mind to purchase one even though I have security concerns as far as what backdoors are built into it
just get a Nexus 5X or something
Naw---I'm a life long Samsung user ---best phones ever---THANKS
ive tried even more with my sony, so miss some things , you also can connect IR adapter , LAN adapter, midi(like piano) . gamepad etc..
about description some phone do less some more it depend android ver brand and more

I use Macs and windows and I always format external drives with FAT32. Macs can read both, and windows and Android read them natively.
Very useful video, Thanks....
Had to toss mine out the window when it started smoking.
usefully tricks
Thanks
Will this work on the Samsung S7 Edge as well?
yes it does
if it suport otg, YES
I think so.
Yes, Samsung shipped the S7 with the adapter so you don't have to buy one.
android device. It should work.
does this cool little gadget come included withthe note 7
I love Samsung and Android ! Try to do this things with an Apple peoduct with out jailbreack ...
Can you put stuff into flash drives/USBs from the phone
usb on the go only supports fat32 file system .....the hard drives uses ntfs which windows uses and also other mac file system wont work
buy new hard drive upto 2tb and format it on pc to fat32 system and you can use it on otg on most mobile phone

Valentin Dimitrov amazon and any other website that sells tech
bro use ex file manager ur hdd will be open

Can you please provide us with the link to where we can purchase the USB OTG connector that you are using?
It comes with a phone
Amazon has them, just get a Micro USB version instead of USB-C to work with other Android phones.
lol i was thinking the same thing
One dollar each on eBay...
CreativeTux Thank you for the tips!
Man, you need to power up that cd rom unit, with a regular 5v dc phone charger, maybe the your phone could reconize it
its working check here ua-cam.com/video/Bxod4pIusro/v-deo.html
will this also work with samsung galaxy s6 edge+? I've already transferred files with the USB A to micro usb adapter and stuck that into a flash drive that had a sim card input. I ment 'SD card' input.

it wouldn't.

in case of connecting optical drive and hard drive you want to connect power bank
does this 10 thing only works with note7 or do it works with another USB OTG supporter mobiles.
Some of it work with the other phone that should support otg
+رأفت نبيل i am using galaxy j7 and i dont think that extra hard disk and flash driver works with my j7...can u make a video on it.
Iphone can't do nothing like this
Iphone sucks it even dont have a headphone jack on the new iphone 7. Samsung is the best smart phone company in the world

You missed, connecting USB controllers, E.G., wireless XBOX 360 Controller (with USB wireless dongle).
yup. I do that to play GTA on my phone
yup that should have been in the top 3. overall a boring list. a few on the list were not practical at all.
Xbox One controller can be connected too but it requires so much shit to do.
+Szymonek A Taki please tell. I wanna do it
Szymonek A Taki no it doesn't. For most phones its as simple as plug and play
Can the GoPro be used as an external camera?
DVD ROM, HDD were not corrupted. They required more power than your phone can supply check out your phone and optical and HDD drive requirments. I have checked that.
both working check this ua-cam.com/video/rBVSXOxX04c/v-deo.html and this ua-cam.com/video/Bxod4pIusro/v-deo.html
hdd maybe weong format.. im using hdd on my fone.
hi... great video... what's the link for the background music?
could a keyboard work aswell.
Where did u get your off piece from?
Otg

You can download a NTFS file manger from the google play store if you wish to access NTFS formatted drives.
android reads ntfs and fat32 perfectly.
Google does allow NTFS. Nexus and Huawei flagships read/write NTFS perfectly.
Problem is that most smartphone manufacturers block it. Samsung is no exception.
Definitely going to hook up a mini midi keyboard with the caustic music creator app. Nice!!!
you can also do this on s4 which is cool or any Samsung because you can get a micro USB to female and a lot of Samsung can support them
You can do that on any device that supports USB OTG...
You have an s4? Me too i am still using it now although theres a bit of lag but overall it is still good.
not only Samsung phones also sony phones
Dvd rw? Would love to write dvds from my phone.
Lol, ive been doing this with my S5 for 3 years, it has usb 3.0 OTG support
You're a genius :)
today I purchased Note 7. I am so happy.
how much sr in soudi.
Cool all that things but the most of them are useless for the normal user, ty for made it!! :) with this video i want this smartphone!! thumb up for u!! :)
My tab is not supported usb keyboard so what to do
does it work on micro usb either
and the printer
What kind of card reader is that? Good video.
I feel like this is one of those duh moments. This should have been on smart phones since day one.
That was awesome. especially the CD rom and webcam. Super cool
need extra power adapter for optical drive...
it requires 1A power which its getting.
It works, Check here ua-cam.com/video/Bxod4pIusro/v-deo.html :)
i know.. already tried... that's why i tell you that need separate 5v power adapter
i know.. already tried... that's why i tell you that need separate 5v power adapter
also if hhd have that type of usb adapter it works perfect
Do these devices allow Ethernet through OTG without rooting?
3:21 Watch Scary
its possible with samsung galaxy s6 or only with usb type c?
Works with an USB Hub, too!
Can use for all smartphone ??
any phone that supports USB-OTG
Note 7 goes kaboom on charge
What's the app used to connect webcam shown in video?
No, your HDDs are formatted in NTFS, which android does not support natively. Any drive over 32gb is formated in NTFS.
No, Mine are formatted for MAC OS X Extended . I don't use windows. (y)
+VlogTimes #Creative thats probbably ext4 or alike, thats what unix based os-es usualy use.
will samsung galaxy s6 supports all this removal devices showen in video with OTG ?? pls reply
yes
This is 2014 technology why to show this now??!!
It's older than 2014. XD
My Samsung Galaxy has had this since at least 2012....
why did you blurr your location in the beginning just to not blurr it in the end?
awesome Dude .but sad Apple thinks its useless
apple thinks its not profitable**
because they are jealous that they are losing in the world of phones
People who want ios will buy iphones anyway. But Android Don't have any true competitor .by 2025 Android will be the best operating system ever made.
+EHLO True
Apple has lightning to 30 pin
Can the s7 edge charge up and transfer files as well?
Most important thing in samsung galaxy note 7 it can be used to be a hand genrade
for reading the hard drive use mlusb app or total commander app with paragon_ums extension
Check this ua-cam.com/video/rBVSXOxX04c/v-deo.html
+VlogTimes #Creative i get it that you need to format it to read it in android but does it format in ntfs format? because when i tried to connect my ntfs drive it didn't got detected hence i installed the above said apps on my s7 edge
+VlogTimes #Creative excellent video though. thanks for showing us the prowess of the galaxy's
i would like to point out here is that it is also possible to transfer data from galaxy to other phone via otg
Have you already returned this note 7?
Question : Will this work for the Note 4?
none of the features are in the iphone.. lol the bes selling phone in murica
Can you watch dvds with the optical drive?
It works, Check here ua-cam.com/video/Bxod4pIusro/v-deo.html :)
+VlogTimes #Creative thanks good video
I get it everything that works with usb
Good presentation on what OTG connector does.
BTW on #4 the actual reason is because android doesn't support any other file format than FAT that is why it wont read your portable drives.
and ext4 on lollipop+
Joysticks work too..... :)
Nope. It can read NTFS and FAT32 no problem. It's a power consumption issue.
there's an app that can make it support all formats but it needs root
+Stuart Halliday maybe Western Digital External hard drive might work better compared to seagate.
I will never buy an iPhone again 🤔
so...if i buy the s7 adapter...will it work with my s6?
it will work in any s series...im using s6 adapter on my s5
+Bimal Pandey thx
welcome bro
+Andrei F
If you want on s6 you will need a micro USB instead of USB C
as long as it's not usbc
Galaxy Dynamite 7
Excellent job
