- The Evolution of Pattern Making!
Industry leaders Special Patterns utilising their in-house robotics division have developed this robot system to advance pattern making techniques. Combining robotic hotwire cutting and machining / milling of EPS foam on the same system with through tool and around tool dust extraction.
All this made possible with offline programming software SprutCam robot. The robot is KUKA KR120 AA with KUKA.CNC controller.

Still looks like it's making a giant toilet
Not a toilet!
What is it then?
It's a secret!
@@specialpatterns7330 tyranosaurus head
Nope!
Have you ever been asked to make the redeeming Christ?
Not yet!!
Would like to know what kind of dust cyclone you use. Is it working good for styrofoam parts. I know is is difficult to extract the particles cause of the weight of it.
It would be helpful.
That's a clear vue cyclone. But any high volume low pressure system will do
What kind of glue were they using to cement the blocks together , most glues make residue , and cause inclusions ? Probably a trade secret ?
i think just a spray foam, then its all basically foam
I need this machine
Can you provide the details
Hi there ! I work as a freelance sculptor in Hungary. I use a robot for stone sculpture milling and sometimes for milling EPS to create a base form for further modelling.
May I ask from which company do you buy the milling bit ? I have a KRC 210 for milling with ISO 40 cone spindle. I have plenty of diamond tools for stone milling, but sometimes I would need an effective tool for EPS. Any help is appreciated ! Thanks !
Email me. robots@specialpatterns.com.au
Looking for setup prices on a kuka robot for milling foam with turntable. Also could use your mill bit resource. Email is rhinocustoms@gmail.com
Que cuesta
I need a machines similar to cardboard, it is possible?
Awesome Advanced Manufacturing, Excellent beginning new Automation Manufacturing tool more than conventional CNC 5 axes, implement arm Robot is more than 6 axes on Manufacturing Hybrid system.
+Mike Coronel That's right! This new setup we have developed can greatly reduced the cost associated with pattern making compared with traditional CNC machines. Opening up new potential markets and construction techniques.
Special Patters Excellent Job !! Congrats, Reduced Time and costs. Wonderful Technologies Advanced, We planing new step on Manufacturing Automation Industry. You are proud of your results.
Where do i buy a hotwire attachment like that?
making a giant styrofoam toilet
Amazing to see this technology at work.Thank you.
Ps.
That music is highly irritating 🤦♂️
sorry!
Which software you are using for this kind of cutting plan
Sprutcam x robot
where we can get the dust extraction system?
any link?
what is the reach of this robot ?
Is it a trex neck?
We want to buy this please
Hello
is this a service or are these machines for sale? i'm looking to use this for my kitcars
Both! We have a pattern making business and a robot system making business under the one roof.
Thanks for replying. Any rough estimates how much such a tool will cost me?
TheCynicalAfro 101 depends on size. Contact robots@specialpatterns.com.au for more
how do you attach the foam to the rotary table? we are running a similar setup workshop as a design company in Taiwan, and work holding bothering me a lot.
That would be a trade secret! We do offer a workshop in robotic fabrication, contact robots@specialpatterns.com.au for more info
Looks like a vacuum table. The surface the foam sits on looks like MDF. You get vacuum tables on many CNC machines.
@@conorfitzpatrickdesign9616 thank you!!!
We don't use vacuum with foam. Too unreliable.
amazing
What other materials can be processed?
The hot wire is limited to foams that melt, for other materials a fast wire or bandsaw can be used. The robot milling can process soft material up to aluminum.
What is the cost for processing foam, wood, gypsum?
wtf is it?
Well the rest of the internet thinks it's a giant toilet seat, so let's just say it's a giant toilet seat!
@@specialpatterns7330 But why all the shit on the 'back'? 1:55
whats the density of EPS/foam used !? btw, great work
+Prasan Veni Sorry mate, it's a trade secret!
Oh fine. no worries and tks for reply. but can you tell if 40 kg/m^3 (2.5 lb/ft^3) is millable. cos i have a block and intend to try some hobby stuff with ball miller.
+Prasan Veni yes 40kg /m3 will be fine
+Special Patterns thanks a lot. really appreciate it.
Just make sure it dosent have little blue specs in it , thats fire retardant , and causes residue inclusions .
Imagine someones head getting caught in that foam cutter :P
Rather not
what is the material used ?
+invaziq EPS foam
Looks to be 1lbs or 1.5lbs EPS Foam.
Special Patterns hi bro, where can I buy this machine..tq
We make them! Contact us: robots@specialpatterns.com.au
A work worth appreciating ....You can see my work if you want
