i have this pedal and sounds like a great distortion. i use it with a boss super overdrive and the sound i get sounds like a peavey 5150.

Great review guy! I would like see ST-2 together with DS-1, I believe will be a good setup for strat & Les Paul guitars.
I have and use this pedal, its awesome. Great if you play alot of covers, it'll get you from AC/DC to Hendrix to Van Halen to Children of Bodom lol.

Maybe your mic was a lil too close as the sound was a lil muddy thru my monitors and this pedal probably doesnt produce mudd, Maybe just Chanka Chunka

The best that I can guess to this Lucas is the song called Lenny by Stevie Ray Vaughan. In my opinion as guitars for over 20 years I truly believe that he's basically doing his own version of, in a very sweet way of Lenny ,by Stevie Ray Vaughan. I hope this helps if you hadn't found out already I know it's been about 5 years! Lol lol!

It sounds ok on crunch setting to get a nice EL34 break up. Beyond that it gets too glassy way too fast. If you're going to buy one to get a British sound, I would look at the Combo BC-2 pedal.

@serve4life most their overdrives are analog. I don't know of any digital overdrive stompboxes that they make.
boss ds-1 mij 1982 and booth by od-1 mij 1987, you don't need anymore distrotion pedal.

I used to think my DS-1 was the shit as far as Boss distortion pedals go. Now, compared to the ST-2, it just sounds like shit! LOL! The range of tones you can get from this pedal are second to none and very amp-like, unlike the seething, midrange-less and brittle tones a lot of distortion boxes generate.
Why are Boss still even on the market? Jesus man. They haven't had a decent gain pedal since they introduced the DS-1 back in the freaking 80s.
I don't like MetalZone. Sounds very fake and has an unappealing scooped sound.
I suggest the Metal Core pedal if you want a good metal pedal from BOSS.

+Luka Cuturic that's because of the single coils. Use it with humbucker, you will get killer sound and it is versatile.

He's playing through a solid state jazz chorus amp dude. These sorts of amps take more dialing in / fine tuning to get a decent sound.

@serve4life True bypass isn't always a good thing. Of course, it makes sure the sound is unaffected when the pedal isn't engaged, but Boss' FET bypass isn't the problem. Ever wonder why their pedals are so cheap? Cheap components my friend, resulting in a cheap sound, even if it is analog.
I've used the BD-2 Blues Driver, the DS-1 and the SD-1. I sold all of them after upgrading to better stuff by Fulltone, Xotic, even CAE/MXR.
The only good Boss pedals are the ones modded by Robert Keeley.
