  • Demos the use of the Paragrafix photoetch kit to add detail to the cockpit of the new Mark I Colonial Viper model by Moebius. Please note, due some copyright issue with background music that was supposed to be freeware, some of the audio has been deleted between 2:00 and 4:30. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Thank you so much for sharing your videos on the Colonial Viper MacI. This will be my first build in over 30years. A lot has changed. I contacted your recommended LED provider, mentioned your UA-cam site and they instantly knew whom I was talking about. (You are famous!). I will be using your videos as a guide to this Viper build. Thank you again. -Frank W-

    That's too bad that the model kit comes with those clear panels that the display are on but they didn't design the cockpit such that it could be back lit. Wow that's a lot of detail work. Great job as always with the video!

    Love your work and really appreciate the time you take to show your techniques. So helpful. You helped me so much with my Hasbro Falcon. I'm working on the viper now and have been following your videos again. I have a question. I have the same kit and the same photo etch kit. The instructions, which you follow quite nicely, have you apply the etch panels and then the graphics. After looking at this, I'm wondering, why not paint everything first (panels and cockpit), apply the graphics and then glue the panels to the cockpit? There's probably a reason, but wanted your opinion. That would seem a lot easier. Thank you and keep up the great work.

      Hi Ken...it's been a long time since that project so I had to go back to the video myself. Just to make sure I get this right (and as you said)....I applied the etched panels, painted the cockpit and installed the graphics last. I would say that the problem with painting everything first is that you run the risk of damaging the paint as you glue in the etched panels. Also it's easier to center the graphics into the installed panel vs the other way around. There's limited space and the panels will only fit in a certain way with little room to maneuver them. I hope that helps. Thanks again for your kind comments.

      Actually, I would think the opposite to be true. Installing the graphics directly to the photo-etch ("sandwiching" them between the brass and the plastic) would make them easier to align and then also not be recessed so deeply behind the parts due to plastic thickness. That's how I intend to install mine - paint all the parts separately, add the backlit panels, then attach the photo-etch to the cockpit.

    Hello I.M., first and foremost thank you for this very informative and insightful video. Very professional and intelligent. My question is and forgive me if you covered it in the video and I simply missed it. Does the photo/etched kit come with or separate from the main kit?

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  9 років тому

      Separate. You can find them at sites like culttvman or the actual manufacturers' Paragrafix. Thanks for your kind words.

    Hey, this might be available already and I'm missing it BUT is it possible for you to link to the previous and next videos in your descriptions? Your work is awesome and it's vital part of me building my Moebius Mark II.

    No audio from 2:31 to 4:27, was this intentional? I tried with multiple devices and the 2 minutes of silence exists on each.

      There were some copyright issues with some background music. The audio was muted because of this vs having to take the video down. I didn’t have the footage to re-edit it. The music was supposed to be freeware. I no longer use music other than that provided by UA-cam. Sorry about that

      @@InterstellarModeler No problem, it was just driving me nuts trying to figure out what was wrong with my devices causing audio to keep cutting out at the same place in the video! :)
