Moved out of Connecticut 13 years ago! The best thing I ever did. Connecticut is nice, but will tax you to death! For those thinking of moving to Connecticut, do your research! Property is very expensive!
Thank you for watching! Yes it can be expensive, that’s why I’m here to help make sure people thinking of moving here know the good and the bad things about living in CT.
This is so helpful. We are looking into moving to Connecticut in the next year, from Ohio. Definitely will have to prepare for the extra snow and taxes. Thanks for the info!
I was born and raised in Southington. Your description sounds pretty accurate. My last visit was in 2017. I left for Military Service in 1981 and ended up in North East Florida. I Still have family there and like to time my visits in the fall and catch the leaves peaking for some great motorcycling In the Litchfield Hills and along the Housatonic River. It has changed a lot since I left. Southington was covered with a lot of farmland back in the day. Cost of living and Taxes would put me in the poor house if I returned.
This State never ceases to amaze. To expensive Taxes , Groceries, just the cost of living expensive. This market is being driven by Covid and People getting out of the Cities.
I'm shocked, but not surprised you didn't mention our living expenses and rent rates. I live in southern CT, the rent I pay for a Studio Apartment adding it up annually, I can get a 4 bedroom house in the South, Let that sink in
I do talk about cost of living in another video. It’s vastly different depending on why town you live in. I live and work in central CT and an average rent for a 2 bedroom apartment here in Southington is around $1,200/month. It is definitely more expensive here than in the south. My father moved south about 10 years ago to retire.
Are you thinking of moving to CT? .... what’s the matter with you? Are you so wealthy that you just want to throw your money away? Do you like paying more and more in taxes every 4 years? Do you like crime? Do some research first... don’t just move here and then find out how huge a mistake you made... consider this a heads up!
You should do your research no matter where you are going. Some people are planning on moving to CT so I’m here to tell them the good and bad about our state. Thank you for watching.
@@anonymousmoon7863 yeah but then so is 9/10s of the country. CT is one of the country’s highest taxed states because it’s like a rest stop for people going from NYC to Boston!
So funny watching a video about your home state. I am located in roxbury, Litchfield County. The real estate is absolutely insane right now. Eberyone out bidding one another. My friend down the road listed his house for 150k over asking price just for fun, well turned into a war! Sold it within 48 hours.
@@livinginsouthingtonctbybar961 ...and 3ys later, the real estate market is even worse. It's not coming back down, and there's no housing available. Houses in our area don't stay on the market long and everything is so overpriced. Our parents' houses are in Fairfield and Greenwich, and will be hitting the market in five years. Both will sell for over a million each, but neither are worth anywhere near that. The money is in the land and area.
Do you live in CT? If you dislike it here as much as your comments show, I’d be happy to help you relocate to a different state. I have a network of Realtors across the country that could help you find a new home or rental.
@@livinginsouthingtonctbybar961 yes I do live here born and raised. I have seen it go from a great place to live to a state who seems hell bent on getting rid of not only industry but middle class, working families. And I would love to move south but at this point it’s just not possible, maybe after I’m retired, who knows... but at the way things seem to be going in this country who even knows if even the southern states will survive and remain free or, “more free” than the northern states are anyway. But yeah, I am not happy with this state as are a lot of people.
I’m moving out. Tired of paying exorbitant taxes and getting nothing for it. I bought a place out of state. Costs are half of what I pay here. Getting my house primed for sale. Once I’m done we won’t look back.
The CT shoreline has a slightly different seasonal profile. Our summers aren't quite as hot, and winters are not as cold and snowy as upstate because our climate is moderated a lot by our proximity to the ocean. And our autumns are long and wonderfully warm. We play golf right into November most years. But, man, we pay for it in spring. It's cold, wet, cloudy, dark, and seemingly unending. It starts in March and lasts until the middle to end of May. Really warm weather doesn't come until really June most years.
Property taxes are definitely higher than some part of the country and different town to town. A $250,000 house here in Southington property taxes are around $3,500 to $4,000/year. In Waterbury a town over from Southington, taxes on a $250,000 house are more like $5,400 to over $6,500/year.
I move to Bridgeport Connecticut from New York City, too be honest it is the WORST! Mistake my family and I made. Now We are kind stuck here I do want to relocate but where I guess upstate New York. Thanks for sharing.
A lot of people have moved from NY to CT lately. Bridgeport is definitely much different from the area I’m in, in the middle of the state. When you have time drive around and check out some more parts of CT.
@@whowanttoknow2414 yes! Closer to NYC (than Southington) and they are nice towns. Shopping and everything right in Orange and Milford is beautiful. Feel free to reach out if you need any help.
Wow, my Condolences to you. Should have stayed in New York in that case. Here in South CT there's a reason we nickname Bridgeport the "Hell City" I used to live there I know
Iowan here. Hearing your description of the worst weather in Connecticut was adorable. I have 3 feet of snow in my driveway annually. I literally have to divide my driveway in half longways to make room to put snow. The upside of having crap weather all the time is the infrastructure plans for it. We have plenty of room on the side of roads for snow and plenty of free water fountains for the OMG hot summers. I am looking forward to moving to CT. We are going there because it is a nice balance of stable weather and pay for my line of work. My partner has a medical condition that means migraines every time the weather changes. Iowa is one of the worst places to live with that condition. CT is one of the best in the US.
I do feel that CT is a beautiful balance of all 4 seasons. We do have great medical care but I have known of people with various ailments being affected by the weather here. If you have any questions or need any help with your move to CT, please feel free to reach out. I’m happy to help. Thank you for watching!
There are so many things to do in CT that can occupy individuals and families. We have many top rated state parks, theaters for plays and concerts, museums, a huge science center and many children's museums, antique shops and flea markets, aquariums, sports venues, casinos, ropes courses and trampoline parks, amusement parks (including the oldest...longest operating in the country), and many beautiful botanical gardens. We have strong music and art communities across the state. There are also seasonal activities, like skiing, snowboarding and skating in winter and maritime activities to do in the summer. Plus, CT is home to the national best pizza, original grinders, steamed burgers, and seafood, particularly the best lobster rolls. However, we also have national award winning BBQ, and ice-cream. There isn't much CT doesn't offer. Many travel to CT for the fall foliage, the dogwood festivals in the spring, and the snow in winter. Christmas in CT is still popular. We may have high taxes, but the state pays for community colleges, healthcare, social services, and our state parks. *Healthcare, dental and vision are free if you can't afford it. There isn't a better state to live in.
@@Ninjanimegamer I won’t get into my thoughts on healthcare, but yes, I do think Connecticut has a lot to offer. I’ve made other videos on some of the places we like to visit throughout the state. We definitely have some of the best food in the country.
According to salary.com, The average Public School Teacher salary in Connecticut is $63,811 as of February 26, 2021, but the range typically falls between $55,705 and $73,668
I recently moved OUT OF Connecticut and I am so happy I did. I appreciate your video and no disrespect please but maybe hear another side. I was paying "Property tax" on my vehicles (which I never heard of until moving to CT). This tax alone is outrageous and a money grab. EVERY YEAR you must pay the mill rate on all of your vehicles. What!? The State I moved does not have this tax. I was paying $18,000 in real property taxes on 3/4 acre! Now I pay less than 10% of that on over 40 acres, a house, an arena and barn plus mountain views. CT taxes your pension AND Social Security. The people in CT are the rudest I have ever encountered. Mind you I lived in California, Arizona, Florida and Pennsylvania. Nowhere are they more rude than CT. Between the driving habits down to the neighborhood. Most people in CT do not want to be there, but they are rather "Stuck" there. My clients told me this all the time. "I would move out but I have family here" was what I heard a lot. The 9 years I spent in CT were long, cold and not the of best times. The Long Winters combined with traffic and hot steamy summers while living on a polluted lake and paying a "View tax" are only a memory now....(thank God). I will not be sad if I ever cross the CT State line again in my lifetime. Matter of fact I prefer that. Just sayin....my view.....
Thank you for watching. Due to all the negative comments I have gotten on this video I made one about the top 5 moved to states. I have lived here all my life so other than vacationing it’s all I’ve known. I like to give the good with the bad and although I would be happy to never shovel snow again, it is a beautiful state.
@@toniam.2080 I totally get it. I live here and work here so I must make a living. I hope to retire elsewhere as well. I’ve been in CT all my life so I guess I’m used to it. Thank you for watching! Even that though. Buying a house in CT is a JOKE!!! Double the price of ANY surrounding state outside a metro area. Do these ppl have their heads up their A**? How do you accommodate the blue collar working man? How many ppl around here does it take to screw in a light bulb? Ask sleepy joe
I live on Long Island and can’t afford to ever afford a home here even though i work here in Ny.. what does a commute to queens look like from Connecticut? What are the nicest closest towns to metro north trains, I’ve only driven through Connecticut ..
Hi Neelia, thank you for watching! There are stops in a few cities/towns in CT. Milford, New Haven, Fairfield, Bridgeport to name a few. The drive from day Milford/New Haven is around an hour and 1/2 but taking Metro-North and then hopping on a subway could double your commute time.
Hello! I am moving to Southington for an 8 month internship and found your videos really helpful to understand the place. I was hoping you could help me find any leads for finding accommodation there from January to August..

So I'm looking to move up there around late Feb early March... more so around Litchfield County... any resources you could point me to. The specific area is not set in stone yet so im open to suggestions.
Hi Adam, sorry for the delay. For some reason I didn’t get a notification. What type of information are you looking for that would help you decide on an area? Are you looking for specific jobs, schools, or maybe cost of living?
Ct is a very expensive state. Litchfield county Property is alot cheaper. Taxes are very high on Property, that's why rents can be a little higher but cheaper than New York. I love Ct, it's a very small state another reason taxes are so high.
@@cookiee5272 yes, we can be expensive compared to other states but definitely less expensive than NY. Most towns with lower home prices do end up having higher taxes. Litchfield is a beautiful area.
If you insist living there, buy vehicles with plow attachments, snow chains, do you like snow? Do you like Mud? Do you like deer, bears, wolves? Buy shortwave radio/CB, power generator and lots of candles. Can you cut down trees and split wood? Keyword to remember: Propane. Get used to driving long distance for EVERYTHING.
#5 is inaccurate. There are pro sports teams. should clarify that we don't have any "major" league sports teams. The wolfpack in hartford, Islanders in bridgeport(previously the sound tigers. CT sun(wnba), among many more. I live in a bordering town of Southington for reference. The rest of the video is pretty accurate though.
Well I moved to southern CT 33 years ago and travel to the mayor US cities and I think CT has a great location. So close to NYC and to Boston. Taxes, yes expensive but we don’t pay tolls and that gets expensive if you drive for work every day. I also think it’s easy to travel abroad as mayor airports are not too far to get to. One think that I don’t like is the cold beach water but the whole north east has this issue. I have never felt unsafe in CT (except @ night in certain areas of Bridgeport /New Haven), I think is one of the safest states in the USA. And our gorgeous ocean views are a must see.

@@livinginsouthingtonctbybar961 Your very welcome. Thank you for reminding me of the :parts" of CT I love the most! Others not so much... like high property taxes. Funny part though is I miss the fall and winter most. Nothing smells better than hanging your bed sheets out on the clothes line and crawling into bed with that wonderful fresh smell. Or the beauty of the trees covered with fresh snow as it's falling from the sky. Just how quiet it is durring a snow storm. Those are the things you can't take out of a CT girl!
We do have pro sports! Just not “major four”. The Connecticut Sun play out of Mohegan. And Hartford Athletic, although they play in the second division of US soccer, are a pro soccer team.
Getting out of the military and this was one of the spots available for a job transition… I’m going to have to rethink getting out at al, sounds like a horrible place to live. I don’t even want to imagine how much I’d pay just to park my Camaro when I’m already paying for everything else, not to mention gas which is high enough as it is.
It’s definitely not a horrible place to live, at least not for me. Compared to other parts of the country it can for sure be more expensive though. Thank you for watching and thank you for your service. 🇺🇸

Grew up here(kensington) Yes the taxes are high and for younger people not much to do . (easy to get to Boston or N. Y. though) Great for family's if you stay out of the major city's . And the springs & falls are amazing 🍁🌼 that takes up six months . Winters and summers are tolerable. We have the shorline 🌊 30 minutes FROM me and in winter places for sking. (but who doesn't love a 'snowed in' day with hot chocolate & movies ! ) Older now and thinking of retiring as this state isn't great for seniors (taxes, col, and things for seniors(now lower income) to do are main concerns for me) but all in all a great little state for growing children, flowers, and did I mention the food ! Great ethnic food around every corner ! AND you should of mentioned we have "YOGA WITH GOATS" 🐐 who else can say that ! TFS
Thank you for your comments and thank your for watching. There are so many great things that CT has to offer. I’ve never tried yoga with goats but I may have to add that to my todo list. Thanks again, your comment was a breath of fresh air and truly explains our little state. I have helped many sellers move out of state to retire, I’d be happy to help you as well when you are ready.
The Yardgoats logo was stupid. Nobody remembers start a yard goat is. Huskies are great! This is the insurance capital of the US. And we have P&W. Decent pizza. Mohegan is good. Overall, CT is not too shabby. I like it here.
I keep seeing, "Connecticut is boring, nothing to do", really? What do you want to do? We have a lot of small and medium theaters that are really intimate venues in Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, Ridgefield Playhouse, Infinity Hall in Norfolk, Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Eugene O'Neil Theater in New London, and the historic Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam. I've seen some classic rockers and musicians, to off Broadway productions. We have two ski areas at Mowhawlk Mt in Cornwall, and Mt Southington Ski Area in Plantsville. In the summer we have three major state beaches, as well as many state parks for hiking and biking, Lake Compounce Amusement Park in Bristol, aquarium and sea life exhibits in Norwalk and Mystic, a multitude of museums across the state especially Peabody Museum at Yale University and the Mystic Seaport Museum in Old Mystic, and Hartford Science Center. We have four auto racing tracks, tubing on the Farmington River, the Connecticut wine trail, rodeos, country fairs, arts festivals. The list can go on, so why is CT boring? That being said, I agree that taxes and cost of living are the biggest detractors and I might add politics contributes to a negative image of the state. It usually ranks near the bottom of "Good places to Retire" lists.
If people are saying Connecticut is boring it’s probably because it is, compared to other places. Connecticut is like a sleepy state, even less entertaining than a retirement state. And if you don’t have great transportation or aren’t willing to drive to all corners of the state, you probably won’t have access to most of the places you Mentioned. You can entertain yourself in Connecticut, but you have to put the work in to make it happen. Especially younger people can definitely find more entertaining activity somewhere else, much easier.
@@jasonchance8096 Absolutely, I was just picking a few from across the state. I don't know all the theaters nor all the things people find for entertainment and enjoyment in the state, but CT has a lot to offer in a tiny package.

Also ethnic diversity, high cultural offerings and most of us live in small towns and cities AND own cars ... thus regional life style. Mountains and the Sea offer great choices for all. No earthquakes, tornadoes, forest fires , severe droughts , mud slides or sink holes...no real extremes. Connecticut offers ‘constant change’ in spite of out State motto: The Land of Steady Habits.
I was born and raised in Southington. Back in the day it was awesome. Small town where everyone knew each other. Not the case now. So sad. All the beautiful fields and pastures have given way to apartments and condos and overly priced homes which are so expensive. But Southington does have a great school system. Probably the only thing that hasn't changed. And we have an extremely low crime rate. However Connecticut has the highest taxes in the country running neck and neck with California. So u better have some bucks if u want to move here. As far as our seasons go.When I was young we definitely had true 4 seasons. Now it seems to be 4 months of nice weather and 8 months of cold. Hey. I'm just being honest. Oh yeah so we get leaves changing colors but blink and it's gone. Plus it's too cold to enjoy it's brief beauty. Sorry but as I said I was born and raised here and I have to be honest. Think twice before coming here and I so hate to say that. But trust I don't lie. It is what it is. I long for the way things used to be but the truth is it's not like that anymore. 😇🥰❤

Thank you for watching and thank you for your comment. We do have property tax on homes but not on your items in the home. The personal property tax covers things like motor vehicles. The only tax you pay for, say furniture or appliances, is sales tax at the time of purchase.
Personal advice if you come to CT......Don t get too friendly with people, keep to yourself as much as possible, wear your seatbelt(Major Offense if caught),avoid most people because most have the mentality that you are obligated to do anything and everything for them and yes they will throw it in your face for the smallest thing they have done for you! Do not "enable panhandlers",or kiss anybody's ass! Do not think CT. is a this small, quiet bed of roses full of sunshine state where everybody minds their own business(nope)! It is actually like this huge 5000sq. mile city that has high, middle and low class areas! Mostly everybody is a busybody, trouble making...I m better than you, because of my job,or how much money I make,or what I have that you don t! By coming to CT.,yes you could do worse, but you can do a lot better too! There are 50 states!
CT is also the best state in the country for working women to get paid equal to men. You should also do your research on taxes because we are not #2…we are #5 or 6.
I've lived in CT for longer than I care to admit, and I have to say that I HATE IT with everything I got. The asshole of New England, New Haven, has big city crime, big city taxes, big city poverty, big city traffic, big city unemployment, big city homelessness, big city rents, and it's NOT a big city. "Oh, but the food and the arts...". Pizza is not enough anymore, and screw the arts. That two bit mayor we had chased the Ravens out of town and tore down the Coliseum, and now we have NOTHING. I know that was a long time ago, but I'm still sore about that. And let's not forget he closed down the punk rock club because he was afraid that a bunch of kids listening to music were going to scare off Spenser, Caroline, or Linus from spending exorbitant amounts of rent, effectively killing whatever pathetic little music scene we had here. He flailed his arms screeching "WE'RE AN ARTS TOWN!!", but now I have to go to Orange or Branford just to buy guitar strings. I spent the 90's watching my friends move away while I was standing there like Max at the end of the Road Warrior standing in the wasteland. And that two bit state university screwed me over on financial aid so many times, they were actually pushing the application back across the counter at me. Dating here is like a prolonged root canal, and people just hook up within their social circle. Screw the Huskies and women's basketball. And if you're saying "oh my god, you're so angry", you're darn right I am. New Haven never became what I thought it was going to be. What I wanted it to be. Instead it became a failed Seattle, and it's nowhere even that good. I've heard my whole life "Oh, it's the same wherever you go", which I've found out in my more recent travels is a LIE. It's not the same wherever you go. That's a lie people tell themselves to feel better about being stuck somewhere, which many are. It lurches from one recession to another, and it's never really even recovered from the real estate bubble of the early 90's. Jon Stewart said it best. Connecticut is the nutmeg state, because just like nutmeg you wouldn't even notice if it wasn't there.
You skipped right over the enormous property taxes we pay. We own a small cape with less than a 1/4 acre and we pay almost $6000.00 a year for property taxes alone. We just bought 25 acres down south, $350 a year for 25 acres!!! So tired of being financially raped my entire life for greedy politicians to live like kings. Can't wait to get the h... Out of here. Of course you don't mention this in your videos because your a real estate agent and want to sell houses. Buyer beware, do your homework people.
Yes, property taxes are much higher here than in the south. It’s also kind of crazy how they vary so much here from town to town. Even two towns right next to each other can have very different mill rates.
It is way too expensive to live here. The rents are outrageous. The homes are overpriced. It is a very hard place to live. I lived here all my life. And I am 56 years old matter of fact. It's so expensive. Here I'm homeless. That's how crazy the rents are. Please come at please comment back if you ever think of deciding to move to connecticut it sucks
Unfortunately it’s not just Connecticut that has extremely high rents and home prices right now. I just spoke to someone who moved here from Alabama and he said his rent was more expensive in Alabama than here in CT. I’m sure it depends on what part of what state you are in.
If you live in NYC there are definitely parts of CT that would be affordable. Fairfield county which is closest to NYC can be expensive if you did still need to commute to the city.
Lived in Southington for 13 years. Hated it. Not much to do, people not that friendly. The taxes in the state are through the roof, everything is more expensive!! Beaches? Only the Long Island Sound, NOT the ocean like some people think. And the car tax - ridiculous. Yes traffic on 95 and 91 is ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing to like about CT and it's not even a pretty state. As far as sports teams -- most people follow the Yankees! Not the Red Sox and definitely not the Mets! No, we are all NOT UCONN fans. I was sick of hearing about them!! This state has nothing going for it. And casinos -- meh!! And pizza is non-existent. Pepe's is the worse pizza I've ever had.

Its been miserable cuz its a horrible place to find a job and I've had NO LUCK THE ENTIRE TIME TI THIS VERY DAY. IVE MADE NO FRIENDS IM PAYING RIDICULOUS PRICES FOR FOOD AND MY MONEY SAVED FOR A HOME TO PURCHASE IS DEPLETED A LOT. RENT IS CRAZY HIGH AND NOWHERE I NEED TO BE TO FURTHER MY CREATIVE CAREER. I'm at a loss for words really since the week I moved here was the birth of COVID 19 and that's just setting the tone for my life here and I'm crushed and have no connections here to help my career or just make friends and not any family alive to support or talk to for advice. I'm just watching years of savings for my new chapter vanish and I'm just feeling lost and scared here with nothing to show but months of receipt's left from gushing cash and that's not how I wanted to begin living my 40's and I just want to die and don't understand how working my ass off and planning and saving money came to this point. I'm a solid creative and hardworking guy who is running out of resources, haven't been employed almost a year and desperate(as you can see here) not to mention where I planned on going to school to change from being a Branding PR Specialist to massage therapist closed down last October. I have a lot to offer but all I seem to get in return from living here its watching all of those other ppl building new homes and other achievements while I'm still begging for employment and not getting it. IVE CREATED A NIGHTMARE THATS TRYING TO HUMILIATE AND TAKE EVERYTHING IVE WORKED FOR AWAY. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ? LASTLY. I'm not pissing on CT. I'm enjoying its ppl and its beautiful.......I just use the comment section of UA-cam as a therapist obviously
I’m so sorry to hear how you are struggling. Never give up!! My husband had went to school for massage therapy a few years ago and the school he went to is closed now as well. Well, at least they are no longer offering a massage class, not 100% positive if the whole school closed. Danbury is a whole different world from where I am located. I don’t have any connections down there but I’d be happy to help here if you ever choose to move. We are probably about an hour from Danbury. Don’t give up hope, it’s definitely been harder for everyone to make new connections with this Covid crap. Hopefully that will change sooner than later.

Yes, Southington has definitely changed a lot in the past 30 years. So much land has been converted into homes and other buildings.

Your rent is still better than rent in NYC. Much better.
Are you thinking of moving to CT? .... what’s the matter with you? Are you so wealthy that you just want to throw your money away? Do you like paying more and more in taxes every 4 years? Do you like crime? Do some research first... don’t just move here and then find out how huge a mistake you made... consider this a heads up!

...and 3ys later, the real estate market is even worse.

That is very true, the shoreline is definitely different than inland.
Old Greenwich, CT. Just awesome! 🙂
How are property taxes in CT? I'm guessing also high?
Property taxes are definitely higher than some part of the country and different town to town. A $250,000 house here in Southington property taxes are around $3,500 to $4,000/year. In Waterbury a town over from Southington, taxes on a $250,000 house are more like $5,400 to over $6,500/year.

Iowan here. Hearing your description of the worst weather in Connecticut was adorable. I have 3 feet of snow in my driveway annually. There are toll booths on the jogging trails to collect the exercise tax.

However Connecticut has the highest taxes in the country running neck and neck with California. we are about to move to CT and thinking of buying a property in Southington. Are the schools good? I have a child in middle school. Is Southington a good place to live?
Hi Charisma, as a mom (also of a middle schooler) I love this town. We do have great school systems, if you check out www.niche.com/k12/search/best-schools/d/southington-school-district-ct/?gradeLevel=elementary&gradeLevel=pk&type=charter&type=magnet&type=traditional it gives you some info of the schools and town. I’m happy to talk more, feel free to reach out to me. All of my contact info is in the description of each video. Also, I will be doing a video shortly about the pros and cons to living in Southington, it’s next on my list.
Don’t!!!!!
Connecticut is really not that bad as people say it is its just like Oregon
I feel the same. It may not be perfect but I enjoy living here. I even think I would miss the snow that I complain about every year.
@@livinginsouthingtonctbybar961 I have mutual respect for you I totally understand. You should come visit Oregon sometime it dosent have that New England style but has that Connecticut feel with weather and taxes and expenses
@@WMachismo I haven’t made it up that far yet. I do have some family in Oregon but I’ve only gone as far north as Eureka, CA on the west coast. I would like to go some day.
@@livinginsouthingtonctbybar961 Give and treat yourself for a vacation check out Crater Lake, Silver Falls,Mt Hood,Table Rock and defiantly check out also Astoria where Kindergarten Cop and The Goonies were filmed in
Lived in CT for 19 years. Moved to the south. Best thing I have ever done. People are neighborly, cost of living is fair, corruption is far less, and God & family come before money. Connecticut is a terrible place to live!
Glad you like it in the South. While there are things I dislike about Connecticut, there are plenty of things I do love about living in this state. Thank you for watching.
The South is certainly a self selecting place.
Couldn't pay me to live there
Um planning to move to Hartford from Columbus ohio. Its a big bargain for me. I could use some honest opinion like Job and growth price of real estate specially job opportunities for me. I work in finance for a global CRO company and this one thing is bugging me like am i going to get a decent paying job there. Thanks
Connecticut is one of the top 10 and according to some sites, the top 5, raking states as far as salary. We do have a higher cost of living than most other states but we also have a higher average salary to go along with that. I would definitely suggest starting your job search process prior to moving and possibly setting up a Zoom interview if possible. Our real estate market it strong, definitely a sellers market now.
@@livinginsouthingtonctbybar961 thanks for the insight like Coming from Columbus Ohio to CT is challenging since CT has nations highest TAX. But I believe if i can land on a job that pays well can definitely help me offset some additional tax burden. I will keep in touch with u. Is there a phone or good email address i can have so i can reach out to u. Thanks 🙏
@@nazad89 you’re very welcome. My email is barbaranati@bhhsne.com and my contact number is 203-859-4219.
@@nazad89 do Not leave Ohio! And do not buy that salary is higher in Connecticut We moved to Indiana and my husband is getting a much larger salary than in Connecticut it’s still a high cost state and not worth it!!
@@karolinewriter6419 i did some research and found i will making less savings though i may get a higher salary job but expenses are going to be higher. Thanks for ur insight CT is off my List now. Hope u like Indiana its a beautiful state.
I was born in Southington
NUMBER 3 taxes! Thought about moving to New London until I learned your 'personal property' in your HOME is TAXED! Might what to mention that to any suckers . . .
Thank you for watching and thank you for your comment. We do have property tax on homes but not on your items in the home. The personal property tax covers things like motor vehicles. The only tax you pay for, say furniture or appliances, is sales tax at the time of purchase.
The entire state of Connecticut only has 30% more population than Vancouver, B.C. and its suburbs so Hartford and New Haven are not major cities.
Very accurate
NICE. Checkout Waterbury!
@K Maxx well yeah that might of happened...
Awesome video, I was happy to see this.I know a you tuber, 😎❤🤘
Hi Russ! I’m just getting started. Hope you and the family are doing well.
CT is also the best state in the country for working women to get paid equal to men. You should also do your research on taxes because we are not #2…we are #5 or 6.
Thanks for watching
This video was made over 3 years ago, the numbers, even with TurboTax probably aren’t the same.
I was born at Bradley Memorial and lived up on Berlin Street. As an adult, I worked at the Southington Walmart.
It’s a small world 🌎 Thank you for sharing. I love this town!
I'll soon have been here 40 years and family obligations will keep me here at least another 15. Then it's off to somewhere I can afford.
I do understand, my father left to retire in SC where it is more affordable for him.
@traybern at least the licals would be less arrogant
This is all the true about Southington
Thank you for watching!
Me and my girlfriend have Huskies competition every night...we don't need no stinkin' sports team.
Worlds best Pizza in new Haven
So true!
I wish I could afford to live in CT I had enough of NYC 🤦🏻♀️
Thank you for watching. Sorry to hear you hated it so much. What state did you move to when you left CT?
@@livinginsouthingtonctbybar961 Indiana!! Soooo much cheaper!! And beaches too!!
As a native, born in Hartford, and raised in the suburbs, this is the most important thing someone from America needs to know before moving to "The People's Republic of Communisticut"! DON'T!
Thank you for watching
Seems to have more cons than pros though.
Depends on where you are in CT, I just like to share the good and the bad.
Yep!!
Grew up in New Britain. Now live in Newington hate this State. Taxes sucks hate the cold. Nothing here for me. After mom is gone I'm gone. Only here for her now.
Hi John, thank you for watching. I definitely understand, my least favorite parts of CT are the cold and high taxes as well. I’d be happy with a little snow ❄️ to wake up to on Christmas morning and then back to warm weather.
And the Southington Apple Fest 😊
I love the Apple Harvest Festival! I do talk about it briefly in another video but it should be back this year so I plan to do a video specifically about it.
Thank you for watching!
Lol it’s just meh!!
Literally no one it it's one if the most left states. Lol
We have had a lot of people move her from NY recently.
@@livinginsouthingtonctbybar961
Yes but I grew up in Shelton CT and I love my state but I'm literally a political and economic refugee. I want nothing more than to return, but CT needs to get its shit together first.
Things to know before moving to CT: dont
Its better than NY or MA but compared to the rest of the country, hard pass. Its a high tax Democrat dominated state that will never change.
It’s funny you say that. I just made a video about the top 5 places people move to when leaving CT and MA and NY made the list. I was a bit surprised by NY. Thank you for watching!
WNBA isn't considered pro sports by you ?
It is certainly a pro sport, just not a popular as MLB, NFL, NHL and NBA. Thank you for watching.
I
As I look up areas that people tell you not to move to that city or area. Christians we move where God wants us to move to. Be not afraid but fear God. Lord move in Connecticut and among the people. Amen
HUH
One word. Don't.
Heat in Connecticut....Texas laughs
I am extremely unhappy in Connecticut.
I understand your frustrations. I’m actually in the process of putting together a video on the top places people who leave CT move to. If you decide to leave and need help with either selling here or buying in your new state, I’m happy to help. I have an amazing network of agents throughout the country and beyond.
Moved from vermont to danbury 10 months ago and because the person I live with lived here apparently when it used to be better cuz when i got here i was like wtf.
Thank you for watching
Keep the faith, and I hope you find something soon.
Whatever you do, do not move to New Haven.Connecticut it isn't all that it sucks the whole state sucks
Thank you for watching!
Dont do it ct is lame with crazy taxes and high crime stay away!!
Thank you for watching. Are taxes may be high but are crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation.

The crimes here in the smaller owns are robbery and car theft. However we did have the Cheshire murders.and the cities have other crimes.
