Thanks for the video. I’m putting mine together today. I’m gonna make sure I tape that area up with the probes go when I’m not using it.

I've had mine about a year , got it when it first came out. I've cooked in the rain , snow and freezing temperatures with no issues. I leave mine powered on as the manual suggests so it can receive updates when they come out. I am sure that I have cooked on mine well over a couple hundred hours. Hopefully yours will get better.

Sadly I agree with video. The other comments aren't realistic. The unit should be able to work without even a cover . Traeger has fallen away from where they started. I have the same unit and have become a traeger tech from fixing it constantly
. They made them very open and accessible to work on, which I think means they knew that they were going to be a constant problem. It's a shame cause I've been all traeger for a long time and this will be my last.

Seen this thing used in the snow and another review that it’s perfectly fine in rain

Read the owners manual on the self test. It instructs you to remove the fire pot and shine a flashlight down the chamber to mimic a fire in the pot. If you don't it will always show a fault on the sensor.

We had done that but not in that video because the unit was still very hot from trying to warm it up. :( But thank you for the suggestion. :)

Dang, sorry about your luck. I have a pitboss that has been nothing but frustrating so I feel your pain. Maybe buy a collapsible canopy to keep rain off? I know you shouldn’t have to. Or try and return it. It’s too expensive to be unhappy.

I live in Texas, and I leave my Treager outside 365, and I've never had a problem.

Typical more money than brain’s scenario. Do you really expect it to work in the rain? Are you really complaining about a 10-20 second boot up? Love my XL. 1000% user problem.

Customer service was bad because they offered to replace the parts? That's pretty entitled, you sound like one of those people I see walk into stores and demand everything for free.
There is a computer in this grill with an operating system. Yes it boots up when you turn it on. It's electronic , let's not submerge it. In the test it gave you instructions that you ignored. Grow up and take care of the product. I've had mine for almost 2 years, zero problems. I bought a little pop-up tent thing for smoking in the rain. Only issue this grill has is searing protein(which I knew before I purchased because I do my due diligence) which has several work arounds.

I’ve never had an issue with mine. I’ve called them to ask questions and customer service was amazing. And why would you bring a $2000 grill out in the rain anyways? I was cooking my thanksgiving turkey on it and it started to sprinkle so I just put a cooking pan hanging off the edge of the pellet hopper just to prevent the touch screen to be activated. But wouldn’t leave it out in the rain or schedule a cook without checking the weather.

That is not good. I don't have any issues with my Ironwood 885. But you should look into the Blackstone 22 XL Combo. You get a griddle and a pellet smoker in one. I'm seriously looking into it. Good luck

The 885 control panel is horizontal as I recall and probably why you don't have rain issues. The control panel and ports on the XL are tilted upwards, which allows water to drain in. Design flaw IMO.

@BrianRollins ah, I see your point. Hopefully Traeger will remedy this issue
