Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for taking the time to make this video sir! I’ve been on the fence about getting myself the timberline and this video swayed me to get one. Keep it up man and post more, your channel is great!

Thanks! Appreciate that. And the Timberline. Cool! Did you go with the XL or the regular one? I see the smaller one is on sale right now.

Brother, this grill looks perfect. So much more smoke than in the older ironwoods.

So you can use the meater block on the xl

You can! Often I can hear the grill connect to the probes when I take a probe out of the block inside. It's great not having to leave the block outside to use the probes.

Do you find the unit is big? In other words unnecessary cooking space where you would be fine with the smaller ironwood? I have the timberline 1300 and thinking about going ironwood but between the XL and standard size.

I don't find it unnecessarily large. I also went from a timberline 1300 to this. My school of thought was that the XL was $200 more than the smaller one, so not an outrageous jump in price for the extra size. I also put as much as I can on it when in use (various meat, veggies, etc.). So, for me, it was an easy decision, but that's for my family and all we cook for. 🙂
My wife said "unnecessary space? Just put more food in it.". 😆
Lastly, I thought I was going to miss the old timberline, but I don't at all after getting this one.

@@Viper515 appreciate the insight. We’re a family of 4 but definitely don’t use the Traeger as the primary driver but I do enjoy using it, maybe when our kids are older currently 4 and 2 they will want more Traeger food. I just feel the 1300 is overkill for me.

I get it, completely. I tend to be this way on anything, if the size up is slightly more, I just do it. Might be a flawed way of thinking, but it's how I roll. I will mention that because of the giant shelf on the side and whatnot, the XL is physically pretty wide. It's wider than the 1300 by about a foot, I believe. So, that may need to come into consideration for you.

@@Viper515 If only the shelf folded down like the flatrock does. Might list my 1300 to see what traction i might get.

I don't. Traeger doesn't seem to think you need to on this one.

Dump water into a grease fire?

@@skillet4068 I knew I was going to catch some crap for that. 😆 I should have been a little more clear, by the time I get to it, it's just a small bit of smoke coming out. Yes, I have just put a couple drops on it to chill the ash out that is smoking, but not a full on grease fire when I've had this issue. Your point is well taken.

@@Viper515 Glad is wasn’t a fire. I saw someone do that once as their gas grill became a fireball when “grilling” chicken. They grabbed the garden hose and well…..the fireworks were the 2nd best pyrotechnics that night.
