I ran smoothly for about 3 months until discomfort arose in my right knee. To alleviate the issue, I took a break for 2-3 weeks and engaged in alternative exercises like burpees. However, the pain resurfaced after 15 minutes of running for 30-40 minutes. Any suggestions or advice? I made a mistake by not purchasing proper running shoes; instead, I used my regular walking shoes. Two months later, I switched to sport shoes, but they weren't designed for running. I later discovered that this may have caused the knee pain. Additionally, I heard that combining running with stairs may not be advisable. In my running route near my house, there were about 4-5 stairs, and I would go up and down them 4-5 times whenever I encountered them. Could this have been the cause of the problem? Also, could it be related to stretches or warm-up? I never did warm-ups, sometimes stretches. People say light stretches, but I'm unsure what "light" means, so I just do some random stretches.
My knee pain and lower back pain was do to having a weak core, running style, and work load. I switched to running every other day and incorporated core workouts on my off days. I watched some Ryan Hall videos that really helped with my form.

Me and my son are starting with a mile /1600 metres And want to slowly drop the distance down to 100metres sprints while at the same time increasing our intensity What’s the best way to do that ? I just thought amongst distance at slower speed works be a good place to start to get used to running and not get injured We did try sprinting straight away previously but I think one time I hurt my hip flexor or something .
