Kids never needed to run prolonged mileage to exercise. They just ran around the yard/court with friends. This is the type of tutorial that will help athletes run more efficiently. That means energy saved. Less stress on your knees/back/ankles, faster times, etc.
illegal Lemur yeah true but in my school a lot people were lazy and didn't know to run. They used to run like a penguin because they don't know how to run.
Finaally... hundreds of 15min videos of running coaches with 5 min of improper running technique, 10 seconds of correct running technique and 10 minutes of freaking zone 2 and heartbeating. Would give this 1 million likes if I could, thank you
Just finished running using this technique. It made me finish running my 5km feeling like I could do 5km more with ease. To think about it I ran 5km yesterday and I felt like I was dying. This technique really works, thank you.
I call BS on that. This video is very good, but you cannot improve running form suddenly, from one run to the other, unless you ran the second 5k in at least twice the time. Which would also explain why you felt like you could do another 5k.
I’d call myself an intermediate runner. I’ve struggled to run properly the whole time though. My calves or Achilles’ tendon would burn and sometimes my hips would ache. However, after watching this video, I practiced running like this, and it’s much more efficient. No aches, pains, or inflammation. I even ran a lot faster with ease. This video was a lifesaver. Now I can enjoy running without any pain.
@@sensei6368it could be lactic acid build up. Massage will help greatly but it must be deep and hard from knee to ankle, possibly bring tears to your eyes, it did for me. But will resolve the problem 🙂
For me, this was the single best piece of advice for preventing knee pain. As I get more tired, this still allows me slow down without going too heavy on the knees. If I feel good, the transition between times makes so much sense. I wish I had known this 30 years ago when I was younger. I feel this would have sent me to that next level of running It also explains how the world class runners looks the same between the beginning and finish. Consistent cadence with stride changes.
I think i tried this sometime this past week. It made a huge difference. Very excited. Cadence went up and i ran a really good tempo work out. I am now just playing around with it more.
Just Focus on your form each run and try understand goof form from videos like this. And just try make changes slowerly each run. Its a day by day building blocks
@@CaptainBvi Did you have and calf soreness after the run? I also ran really well mimicking this form but now have some calf soreness. Not too bad. Maybe 4/10 soreness
yes it happens. just stretch out then you good, its like first time training bicep after 2-3 run with this form u won't notice it anymore@@JohnWhite-lj9dq
I used to run in college and I can honestly say trying to correct a form is difficult. Sometimes injuries arise from this. I have found weight lifting to be the best to correctly incorporate better form.
I literally can’t thank you enough. You saved my running! About a month ago, I finished the couch to 5k and have been running about 3x 5ks a week; however, I have been struggling with shin pain. Nothing major but a little tender, and I just felt like I was heavy on my feet all the time. You hear so much about a mid-foot stricking; I was so focused on not running on my heels and trying to get mid-foot that I didn’t realise I was still probably overstriding. I adopted your technique today, and although I felt a little odd and slow to start with, I soon got used to it. My run felt much better than many of my previous, and you helped me shave four and a half minutes off my 10k record to a sub 60 at 58:57, so thank you so so so so much. Edit: ok, after having a fantastic run, my calves are now killing me. From what I have read so far, this is due to forefoot stricking, which seems to be what this technique is. So now I am stuck again with an injury 😢
I really wanted to thank you. I have not been able to run for a month due to an injury coupled w/ the fact that somehow I feel like I lost my natural running gait (overthinking technique most likely). I was able to run 6 miles yesterday by simply focusing on this foot strike and leaning forward from my ankles. I almost cried from being so happy. Thank you so much
Its amazing that after 38 years of life I am finally learning to run properly without knee pain. This video helped a lot. Other videos on you tube made me think i have to focus on kicking my butt or kicking my heel to the sky on each stride.
Sorry running update. I tried your form in april and saw instant results with higher cadence and faster pace. I then got injured and after a few months I started back up again. I tried a different form and well I was really discourage. Struggling around 159 to 163 cadence. Now this last 10 days I went back to your basics in this video. Last few runs have been 165 and 166 cadence. Very smooth. I find myself in the 168 to 170s now! I almost have up. Thank you
Enough skinny jokes! This young man is a World Champion obstacle course athlete and has zero trouble running with a 75lb sandbag on his shoulder or flipping a 40lb Yokohama truck tire. Scary string for his weight.
@@Sawizzard body building muscles are useless to be honest. They make you heavy, dull and slow. At some point, it's practical but when it passes that point it's just to show off.
This is great. I tried this technique today and run with a cadence of 165 instead of my normal 150 at easy pace. My knee was a lot better too. Thank you
This really is a miracle cure for overstriding. Been struggling my whole life to get my cadence above 166, and to land anywhere other than my heel. 5 minutes of this, and I'm bouncing along on my forefoot at up to 190bpm. One problem, though - it seems to cause pain my low hamstrings. Hopefully this will cure itself in time, as I've changed a lot, in a short space of time. Can't recommend this enough.
In running your supposed to be working your hamstrings and glutes so now that your doing the correct form then thats why.I suggest doing strength training so that your lower body gets stronger and your core (since it balances your body while you run)
I've probably hit the hundreds of videos about running and form and everything and this is the first one I see explaining this. I always did the heel kicking, I haven't been injured but wow, this knowledge has to be shared
This helped me find my running form again after stopping for 15 years! Picked up running again a few months ago but was just plodding, this helped increase my speed at the same low effort. Every other video I've tried to watch were overcomplicating it
I've just found this video. OMG!!! It helped me a lot❤❤❤ should have found this years ago, but I'm glad I'm here at least.... I had such painful running sessions..almost gave up running... tried this technique yesterday and feeling like a new person. Thank you so much for sharing❤❤❤

I've noticed that I have done this at times while running and wondered why it felt good/comfortable - and doing this technique would be why. I'm going to do this more often. Thanks bro. Subscribed.
Brilliant way to demonstrate how to run properly! Thank you it was very worthwhile watching it! Will I be able to run that way? I don’t know but I will try! 😁😁😁
Growing up kids are not shown how to run or walk. They create bad habits which cause improper form. There should be a class very young in schools, ie first grade or kindergarten, showing kids correct ways to run. GREAT VIDEO!
Completely agree with your comments on the world champs. There should definitely be more weighting for qualifying spots for Pro division athletes! HYROX need to look at this I think. In the 40-44 age group we had 12 WC spots in the open vs only 2 in the PRO. Where is the incentive for people to do the Pro weights if they’re aiming for the world champs.
all this time I thought my fitness just sucked, now I do feel alot lighter. but after getting tired from running I do revert back to "old habits" so i guess from there is to just add more and more volume of running the "right way" I guess?
Gotta try this. Other vids (by other "experts") out there that are explicitly telling you to scrape contact across ground, the butt kick thing, etc. It's funny how many diff ways there are to irritate the hamstring. One is overstriding. This scrape thing is another. Maybe this finally gets me in the zip code of 180 without hurting myself.
Shishhh...this class should be taught in middle school...basic motor skills...would’ve made it easier for lots of kids to get into sports and fitness.
Mour we live in a tyranny. They control the schools. Very sad. Sam Gerrans first video shows how to get rid of the tyranny.
