All around us are opportunities...the trick is to know how to find them, find the application, research viability and the most important....put it into action.
Let's look at coffee ... since were on the topic....
I know of a company who became very successful manufacturing "degassing valves" on coffee bags. The invention was from the 1960's but for this company, it was reengineered into their packaging and was very effective in letting gasses out, but still keeping coffee fresh. Like Tesla, they didn't invent the car or electric vehicles either, but they re-engineered a business to make the cars and sell them.
I just found a problem that needs a solution. The paper heat barrier sleeve between the cup and person always slips down see 24:30 and is annoying, and worse...could lead to dropping your $5 coffee!
A quick fix would be a heat-activated adhesive on the inner part of the sleeve so it's stays in place.
Am I going to act on this...or are you?

never mind on my invention...it has already been done! The manufacturer in North America for Starbucks coffee sleeves is apparently Sabert in NJ. They claim their coffee sleeves come with heat-activated adhesive just like what I was thinking. Dammit! However, the adhesive doesn't seem to work if his falls down, right?
. Fun fact: Jay Sorenson invented this sleeve in 1991 after he went through a drive thru and felt the high heat through the cup and dropped the cup on his lap spilling hot coffee everywhere.. It solved a big problem for waste (they used to double cup them) and stopped burning fingers. I guess you could say the invention just "fell on his lap"
