And people might forget, his family basically died for NOTHING. Like, sure Keyleth is a threat to their cause *if she knows about it*, but them targeting her was a TEST RUN. And because of the test run, Orym's family died.
Sam is a comedy expert, maybe he is just keeping the bit going because he knows its funny... Either way I laugh about it in inappropriate places all the time.
I think a side effect of Orym’s reliability and his overall good heart is that people forget how personal this mission is for him. This isn’t a walk in the park for Orym and it certainly isn’t another day at the office. These people not only killed those he held dear unprovoked, but they ensured they could never be resurrected after the dust settled. Hell, they fucking killed him too not that long ago. No amount of justification makes up for the torment they’ve put this man through.
Thank you for saying this. He's a tough soldier for holding the line, but Orym's really been through hell. I hope he can find some vindication sooner rather than later. And I hope he'll finally lean on someone soon so he doesn't fall apart.
i do not think they should make this decision based on the ruby vanguard. they can destroy them whenever the fuck they want. this is their only chance to free predathos. (if that is his real name.) and I have yet to get the feeling they know and are all on the same page about whether they should let the gods keep getting away with this. the gods are cheating death, what gives you the right to decide who lives and who dies? at this point orym you have to. you are deciding, one that the vanguard dies but two no matter what you you decide the fate of the gods. (provided the martinet is right.) I would not be making this argument if freeing predathos was easier or more frequent, or if I believed they took the stance they did because of predathos, or if the gods were mortal and their seat inherited, but I do not believe either. you can kill thuul and ludinus the second you activate the key you can make sure they do not see the end of the solstice without stopping their plan.
Yeah I think that originally Orym seemed like a 2 dimensional character, at least to me, where he just was part of the group but he's really flourished throughout and this whole journey has been so emotionally awful for him with figuring out all the stuff to do with Thull, so the idea that one of his best friends might end up turning to join the same people who permanently killed his entire family is heartbreaking for him.
@@dankdoge8029 I see Orym as the glue holding the party together, while the party is trying to tear itself apart. Orym's journey was extremely interesting to me from the get-go (ExU) and I like it VERY much the type of character he plays. There's a simple backdrop and on you go. With every other PC in the game, I kinda see where they might end up with by the end, but not with Orym. Hell, he might become the villain in 20 episodes, he might snap, or else. I don't fucking know. There's so much pressure on that little dude. Honestly more that any other PC here. He's the only one taking the threat like ACTUALLY seriously. Sure, it's personal for him, but it's much more than that. He actually wants to do good. Not because he's trying to figure out who he is, not because of trauma or just for fuck's of it. He's not just tagging along. He's the guy who sees evil shit and is willing to risk it all to stop it just because it's, y'know. Not right. Not because mom, not because he's trying to make amends, not because he's stuck with the group or for revenge. Just because what's happening is evil and he can't let that slide. And that's honestly awesome. A bright light in a sea of gray
@@BTLJKSagreed. I'm on a re-watch and it pisses me off so much whenever the characters around Orym turn on a dime & say maybe the beddies aren't so bad, especially the guest characters that show up in a few episodes, so he has to constantly remind them what these people have done to him, and what they've done to everyone else.
"What if it's not so bad?... What if what we're doing is just fighting change?" "Well, Imogen, I wish my family didn't have to die for her brighter tomorrow." The weight behind that line... It stopped me in my tracks for a minute just so I could stop and soak it all in. Nothing like the peace-loving sweetheart of the group pulling no punches to keep the end goal in focus. You guys are on a whole other level, man, I love this show so much
It was a great line, but I don't think Orym is a peace-loving sweetheart. It's tragic that his family died, but they were bodyguards and/or soldiers of a kind. To the Vanguard they were just goons. You could write the exact same backstory for each of e.g. the key guards they just murdered in the Fey Realm. In the end Orym seems not willing to consider the question at hand (Are the gods with saving? How dangerous is Predathos?) out of personal grief and vengeance. But with regard to what Imogen was asking it's actually just a straw man argument.
@@Yaxoi This is a fair argument. It was more so to convey that Orym is one of the more likely members of the group to look for a more peaceful means of resolving a situation (like FCG for example) than the others (like Chetney or Ashton). That, and he generally fills the role of a supportive companion and often carries a wholesome energy with him during interactions with the party and people of the world when the situation isn’t dire or dangerous enough.
I love that Matt's response to "lets bring a bunch of guests back" wasn't "Im already running for 7 people", it was "we dont have enough space for everyone to sit".
Surely there's room behind the curtain for a foldout table and a couple of chairs. Or they could all just be bobble heads like when Ashley calls it in.
@@LostWhits I was thinking that. They could set up the Crown Keepers guest players between the Bells Hells main players with screens like the old days.
OOh i love that Hug, almost as much as the "Sorry the entire party had a secret group chat plotting to kill you two incase you get controlled by Lucien" Hug.
1:41:51 FCG: Are you good? Changebringer: Oh hi thanks for asking! No, absolutely not I'm like one step away from freaking the hells out - oh wait you mean as in morali - ? FCG: Are you neutral? CB: No because I will always be on your side as long as - well, whatever - you do you my sweet metal child - FCG: Are you bad? CB: 🌝🌚... Yes.
Interesting take! I thought of it as the change bringer not necessarily saying I have an evil alignment. But perhaps something akin to “reliance on me for all of your choices is bad.” It’s a reach, but that’s what it’s all about right? 😂
I don't like the good/bad alignment. Replace it with social/personal, and it actually still makes sense while being easier to see "the other side" of things.
I like the idea that all of Tal's characters from now until the end of time will at some point in their lives hear the phrase "life needs things to live" and they respond with "that's stupid" Pretty sure Molly and Cad both did, certainly at least 1 of them has
I liked the answer of "better than the first time." The fucking gall of Ashton saying that Lauda doesn't know what death, loneliness, and abandonment are boggles my mind.
@@jacobw.6744 Yeah, know your mark before starting the guilt trip. Coworker hit me with "trouble with his third rental property". Of my entire extended family I know one person that owns a home. Two if we count the one that married in.
I do like Laudna bringing up that Imogen's mom may not be on team Bells Hells. Up until now Laudna's been supporting Imogen 110%, but it's interesting that means she's the first one to ask Imogen "What will you do if your mother turns out to be an enemy?" because everyone else has been skirting around that issue, while Imogen seems to have buried it below the bedrock of her feelings. It really does give credence to the saying "Our true friends are the ones who ask the hard hitting questions," doesn't it?
Ok. Liam managed to have two of my favorite lines this campaign so far in the matter of like 5 minutes. The "If I had a daughter, I'd want her to be like you." line was so sweet. On the other hand, "Well, Imogen, sorry my family had to die for her better tomorrow." was completely opposite. The two sides of Orym shown brilliantly. Damn you Liam. You are so amazing. P.S. Why do I have a horrible feeling this whole conflict is going to end with Orym sacrificing himself.
@@simplyridiculousCharacters who would hesitate: Chetney (maybe), Fearne (definitely), Laudna (maybe), FCG (no), Imogen (every1 is lucky Laudna exists or she would have turned on all of them ages ago), Orym (no), Ashton (no).
Love the very subtle deep lore cut when Liam references possibly seeing his husband's sister. We learn she is the "Right hand of the Tempest", which was Liam's previous character Derrig's position in the one shot 'Dalen's Closet'. Derrig claimed he had 3 triplet daughters, and one son. We can infer that one son is Orym's husband.
Unless I'm misinterpreting what your saying (which is very possible) I just wanted to point out that Liam does flat out say that Lita is Will's sister and Derrig's son.
So I have been rewatching campaign 2 and I HAVE FOUND SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT. So we know that the Malleus Keys are being used to release Predathos from Ruidus by potentially being the key to opening the divine gate that keeps it in. They are very high tech, very similar to Aeoran tech, and this is where it gets interesting. The city of Aeor was working on a project known as the “Factorum Malleus” or in common the God Hammer. It was a weapon to KILL THE GODS and it was the reason why they we’re literally smitted out of the fucking sky. There are not many ways to kill a god and I guarantee that having two of them being connected under naming conventions like that, being that Malleus was apparently a word from the lost Aeoran language has got to be close to none. This only leads me to believe that Aeor was harnessing the power of Predathos with their God Hammer, or that this is using something from their old weapon with Predathos now. Whatever it is, it is definitely connected
I've been theorizing that campaign 3 is what campaign 2 could have been had Molly not died. The city that Lucien was trying to bring back, the purple-pink-red color pallet of the eyes of nine, weird brain science, the connection to Ludinous and the Cerberus Assembly, some moon hints here and there. And all of it connects back to the ziggurat builders all the way back in campaign 1.
@@RukamiKatochi I’m so happy that people are actually seeing this comment. The other big thing is that we know that Ludinus was doing all sorts of excavations on Aeor proper and didn’t like that bed was doing the same, and we know that the fall of Malaysmyr (definitely spelled that wrong) was caused by a similar blight that was in the forest in Aeor. Ludinus was a high ranking official of that city, so there is probably a connection there too. So much connects back to what was going on during the war and what was happening in the background at the same time. Also, I feel like the conspiracy guy meme, but it has been so much fun scouring old campaign stuff looking for important things for this because there is SO MUCH
That feels very Hitchhiker's Guide, imo. Just imagine this line. _"Many brave heroes took up the mantle to fight the ancient evil brewing at the heart of the world. However, they were unfortunately stalled by public transit delays. The Horrible Cataclysm was not the result of too little heroic spirit on the part of humanity; it was merely the result of tragically ineffective transportation."_
Then either the ritual would already have started, but would actually last for a whole fortnight so that they could still interfere with it before it would be completed, or the new campaign goal would be to help the gods reimprison the god eater. No way Matt would ever let a campaign end with a "world ends, everybody dies" on something as anticlimatic as the heroes not arriving for the showdown in time.
@@firbolg I love her.. Once she got her shit together and became the girl boss she was meant to be.. Even the Goldfish she's kind of an air head. You can still be an air head as long as you are an air with the fam and THE VOICE of the TEMPEST who gets white girl wasted with her homies in Whitestone (cuz honestly she earned that shit). Also I wouldn't blame them a bit if VM went the RQ & Put the fear of Predathos into her.. I bet she's shitting her feathers right now know that some of Exandria's greatest heroes fuckin despise her & it might be in her best interest to let a certain person out of the eternal bondage he was basically backed into a corner taking so he could save the world from HER FUCKING ENEMY. Sorry... Rant over.
“It’s easy to make a nice world if you keep killing everybody who fucking disagrees with you.” What an incredible line. So poignant for current times. And for all time.
Orym, the peacekeeper of the group: “I’m going to need you to do the thing?” Fearne, the fey being of chaos, fire, and murder: “What is the thing?” I do like the complexity of the relationship between Imogen, her mother, and the rest of the group. How Imogen is so desperate to get back her mother, yet she’s slowly losing the sight of the goal, and her friends, especially Orym, are there to remind her who the enemy are, and they start to become wary of her intentions.
Ever since Orym TOLD the group back at the Calloway Hideaway that if one of them backslides, it's up to the rest to either get them back on track or if necessary put them down... I've been waiting for this. Because if push comes to shove, as much as Orym cares about Imogen... I am WAITING for him to put his sword right between her shoulderblades.
@@rhokesh4391 Fearne would then kill Laudna. Ashton would then kill Fearne. Then Chetney would kill Ashton. Then FCG would kill Chetney. FCG would either blowup from the guilt of killing thier friends or suppress the memories like they did before. Their promise to each other to take out each other would have been realized.
If this happens it’s going to ruin me honestly. The fact that Orym understands what will need to be done but has the foresight to know that he has let himself get too attached to do it himself. Asking the one he trusts most to do what he might not be strong enough to do personally… hoping against hope it doesn’t come to this especially with the knowledge that Laudna couldn’t side against Imogen
@@elliekitabjian2069 I actually don’t think that’s entirely true anymore. I think Laudna would choose the world over Imogen now that she has more friends and more stability. She has strong feelings about collateral damage because of her backstory. Joining a death cult might be a hard line Laudna’s willing to draw. That said, I think she’d be fighting to get Imogen to back down until the end. I don’t think she’d do anything to hurt Imogen physically, no matter how bad it got.
The smile Talesin gives during the last convo between Laudna and Imogen where the feelings are verbalized is adorable, like a friend who saw the obvious and made the right push at the right time
Interesting. For me the fact that the stakes are the most powerful creatures of the last millenia, so kinda the world, is disconnecting me from that world. Problems like this cannot be in the hand of some adventurers. The entirety of Heavens should be active. The most powerful people. But I guess we just have a very very small part of the whole picture.
@@indestructiblemadness8531 well i think they are. Remember in the last episode when they contacted Keyleth and she said there was something happening on the elemental plane of earth. So maybe there’s more keys being built on these planes. So there are powerful people dealing with this, just not here. And there are people here from Vasselheim, so the Gods are trying to do something.
@@maximojimenez3728 First, how can it be Desirat. Second, why would it randomly choose to chase them. Third, how can a demigod be so easily polimorphed.

"I wish my family didn't have to die for her brighter tomorrow." and "Is your tongue rigid? The meat tongue?" are the two extremes I love this show for.
I want to see this last night animated... Chet passed out snoring in a little pool of blood in some corner of the ship, soft howls escaping his mouth as he dreams. Imogen and Laudna teary-eyed, sniffling and hugging under the covers. Ashton wielding a half-empty bottle at the stern of the ship, gesticulating wildly and arguing with the ghosts of his past. FCG resting with their lights dimmed, the sweet smell of pastries filling the room. Orym laying in bed, a ray of Catha's light slipping through the porthole and resting on his face, as he sighs in his sleep. And Fearne's song braided with the pulses of arcane energy, as the ley lines shimmer and shift towards their fateful destination.
I wonder how much he's actually flipping coins and how much he decides beforehand what the coin is going to mean. I assume the first coin flip was accidental and maybe even the second, but after that, he just leaned into it because it was funnier. Maybe none of them were, you can never know with Sam honestly
@@TheMadMedek behind the scenes are great as their own content I'd say, after things are done. Kind of like how we see the bloopers after we watched something when they have them.
I mentioned the length of this episode to a friend and she said; "Maybe they got stuck in front of a locked door". She's never seen a single episode. That's just how much I've talked to her about it. Amazing, I love her so much
I usually get through about 2.5 episodes per week. For some reason, a lot to do with life being busy and becoming obsessed with the dumpster fire that is national politics in the U.S., this one took me like 9 weeks to get through . . . playing small bits at a time. And now that I've finished I can't even remember what happened.
I’m not seeing enough people give credit to Matt’s “I’m not a godly person, I pray to those who have sacrificed before us.” Resonated in the depth of my soul, cried a lil
I love that Liam and Marisha both used indirect parts of campaign one character's backstories to make their characters for this game. And neither of them actually used their own character from game one
Man I really liked Ashley's idea (at 1:58:30) of having Fearne ask Orym what they should do if Imogen goes to the dark side. I love Orym (and I love what good it does to the entire party to have an unflinchingly Good character), but most of all I really like the implications of his friendship with Fearne. Like, what Fearne would have become as a character with her very grey fey morals if she hadn't attached herself to him, and what it says about Fearne that she was willing to attach herself to him in the first place. Like, the fact that Fearne asked... she just wants to run her future decisions by him first. I see it as kinda delegating her own moral compass to him. What a show of trust, and from a Fey! My understanding of it is she would rather go without a moral compass altogether, but she's aware there are situations that demand one, and in these situations the only thing she would never want to do is disappoint Orym. Liam's tone when Orym asks "If it comes to that, are you with me?" and Fearne's immediate "Always." She does Not hesitate. My god. I'm SO weak for this dynamic. Also the fact that this convo happens just after the Ashton/Laudna one... SUCH good roleplaying from the whole cast this episode.
I freakin love Ashton so much. They keep so much to themselves but when they talk... damn expect to get your heart ripped out. His and Laudnas interactions are just *chefs kiss*. I love their friendship!
@@huntertuggle2667 no way she’d succeed alone but that’s not to say she wouldn’t give it a try, on purpose or by accident. We’ve seen her go “boom” before 👀
It’s so nice to see Ashton and Laudna interact more with each other, drinking and pouring out about their past, relating to each other’s trauma of dying, coming back to life, and their renewed views on life and their goals are so different yet similar. Laudna feels rejoiced after coming back to life and seeing her friends faces again after being trapped in a cage of her own trauma and conscience, whereas Ashton came back to life, and is in constant/chronic pain, pledged his loyalty to a horrible person, lost his crew, gained a new one yet he’s still unsure about it. He hates them just as much as he loves them, and is willing to go through Hell and back for them.
Somehow, I don't think that destroying the world is the worst that Predathos could do. My biggest worry would be that it realizes somehow that one of the gods used to be mortal, and decides to turn Exandria into a god farm instead of going back to hunt in the cosmos.
@Sksk I mean, I don't think the analogy holds in front of the fact that people have the ability to understand when they are being exploited like cattle, and suffer from simply knowing about their condition and its implications. Call me weird, but I'd rather have a quick death than living a whole life wondering when it will be my turn to become an appetizer. And that's without considering the life conditions that Predathos would probably affect. A friendly reminder that necromancy and undeath are mostly prevented by gods sending visions to their paladins so they can smite them. So now not only you are destined to be smoked like bacon, but the farm you are stuck in is also infected. It's also worth mentioning that Predathos would have very few incentive to care about your well-being, as long as you survive long enough to ascend, it likely doesn't care if you are sick, malnourished, or live in suffering. There's no reason for it to provide the population with the ressources to sustain themselves more than necessary for its own meals. And without the wildmother, who knows what will happen to the ecosystem ? Not to mention your argument is about ecology. It's meant to be considered in a system and how it affects the surrounding ecosystem. But Exandria's surroundings is the cosmos. Whether Predathos burns it to the ground or turns it into a farm changes nothing for the nearby planets. It only affects the exandrians.
The Matron *replaced* and existing god though. she didnt create new deific power, she seized it, and i don't think Predathos would hunt gods at all if it knew how to make them from scratch.
I learned this skill because I have always loved watching her do this and now I sell all of my university notes to my colleagues. med school teachers talk just as fast and dropping just as much lore as matt 😂
i find the fact ashton of all people saying what i was thinking about the ruby vanguard fascinating. all of them overthinking things and ashton, the one who usually just reacts says the most logical thing about this: even if the end goal is good, this people hurt a lot of people to reach, they are clearly not good people. that's the biggest flaw of "the end justifies the means" mentality, how can a group can be trusted to make the world a better place when their actions make it a worse place?
Plus, the end goal is not good. Sure, you can debate that the gods are bad, but in the end nobody in this party knows what they're talking about when it comes to religious stuff.
Yes!! And when would the end be? And better for who? I don't agree with this thoughts because it's just justification for killing innocent people for a future that will never come.
Does anyone feel like the stakes in C3 jumped up way quicker than in c1 or c2? Not a complaint, just a fun observation. Like in c1 episode 50 we were just around the start of the chroma conclave but the campaign was also further because of pre stream. In c2 episode 50 we were just beginning the journey to xhorhas. In c3 episode 49 were discussing world ending threats and the moon eating gods
Yes, I felt that too.Matt said that this campaign would be different. The main story feels more connected with everything tying to Ruidus and Predathos and the combats are more difficult with Otohan almost killing half the group
Yeah it definitely escalated a lot faster then the other two. I'm wondering how Matt's going to be able to top this and increase stakes after starting so big.
personally, i think predathos is going to be much bigger than we expect. i don't think this arc is going to end successfully for BH unless they have some legitimately magic die rolls. imogen feels very OP to be fair, but it feels like he's setting up for another calamity type of event.
@Beanie Lowery I honestly have not expected them to come out on top with the solstice, but after this episode ends with Spoilers . . Keyleth and the Ashari offering to help I think they might have a chance.
Dorian needs to come back. He was there at the beginning of the story and deserves to be part of the group as the story progresses. I genuinely hope Robbie can manage his schedule with Critical Role, and see him back in the episodes.
I feel the same way, he really gave a little more light to the entire group dynamic this season and i’ve been stuck thinking about dorian’s absence ever since he left
Ashley in C2: Constantly rolling low on performance checks and failing with her bone harp. Ashley C3: Has multiple instruments, DETERMINED not to let it happen again
The Ashton and Laudna conversation was truly something exquisite. The number of truly hard hitting lines, and so rapidfire, the vulnerability and honesty and prickliness from both characters. Taliesin and Marisha really brought their A-game to this verbal sparring match, and I love how Ashton tries to seep it under the rug during the windstorm and Laudna calls them out on it. Truly the peak of RP, and that's coming from someone whose favorites are Beau and Percy.
@@elliekitabjian2069 I'm also kind of getting some Beau and Molly vibes, just friendlier. The friendliness and mutual understanding of Percy and Kiki mixed with the two-fucked-up-people-doing-their-best of Beau and Molly. It's an excellent dynamic, I'm loving it

At this point I doubt it’ll ever happen, and I’m totally fine with it because their friendship/soulmate-ship is so beautiful and real, it doesn’t need to be anything more for them and they’re completely fine with it. You know... it suddenly occurred to me that Imogen or FCG could've reached out to Vex and/or Percy and just... lied. Told them Delilah came back and was pulling some super evil, super powerful bullshit on the Solstice. Percy would've invented the Exandrian NUKE if he believed that shit was actually happening. 🤣
Yeah but when he finds out she isn't actually back and they triggered his PTSD to manipulate him he'd use the nuke on Bells Hells and then they all have to roll new characters and start Campaign 4 earlier than intended lol. Plus there's no need to lie, it's pretty obvious that Percy is involved with whatever Keyleth is up to, they both looked exhausted when we saw them in Whitestone. They are definitely both running around putting out fires related to the solstice off screen. Also they reached out to Pike, and she literally lives right up the road from Percy lol, she'll talk to him and tell him what's up. No need to use another spell.
We’re almost done with the Ruidus Arc and I really want the next arc to be Devexian to lead a automaton uprising, come on Matt you know you want to, you keep bringing him up
That would be cool, but I still think he is trying to get Aeor back running. There are a lot of survivors that were frozen and they actually have a god killing weapon.
Possible c2 spoilers If they did go to Aeor eventually we should be glad Caleb destroyed the time travel room because this party would totally time travel
Unless he plays Vax to protect the Matron of Ravens. Hmmm what do you think those mystery roles were. Maybe Orym can be Matt for an episode or two maybe they need Vax and Kiki lmao (A girl CAN DREAM.).
Dying laughing over the fact that, at 1:59:00, Orym and Fearne have a hush conversation about Imogen betraying the group, meanwhile Laura is right in the middle.
Coming from the 4 sided dice they just did and Marisha saying this was the moment for Launda to realize her feelings for Imogene were transcending into romance for her, at the end you can really see it all on her face, you can see the wheels and emotions on her face. It’s just so beautiful
those last few minutes of the ep after Laudna and Imogen's convo with Marisha constantly looking down and back up towards Laura and pondering... oof you can really read it all there 😭
Am I the only one who feels like "I can make a meteor swarm any time Liam" has 'and you don't have evasion any more' less than subtly implied at the end 🤣
Just a little touch I find so sweet: Orym refers to Will’s family as his own. He calls Derrig “dad,” and refers to Will’s sister as his own. They must’ve been so close, it makes my heart sing.
the fact that Matt is allowing Keyleth to show up with her Air Ashari gives the impression that the Hells by themselves just DO NOT stand a chance. I don't think they can stop what's coming even now, but at least with that kind of backup they can stay alive and escape.
considering its only episode 49 and the other campaigns were 100+, i think pedathos is destined to be released. What are they going to do for another 50 episodes?
@@thegreatninjaman I wholeheartedly agree. And I'm fascinated to see things go off the rails. Honestly, I think that Matt is gearing to destroy Exandria as we know it, in order to separate himself from the D&D IP once and for all. I know he's been working on his own system, and the whole OGL fiasco seems like something the CR crew wouldn't abide. However, as long as they're using the D&D license, their hands are tied - so what better way to flip Hasbro the bird than to permanently rework your world into something completely distinct from D&D? One of the big things here is that Predathos is going to kill the gods. And that's important because the gods of Exandria are one of the few things that's 100% D&D official about this world - so removing them will break the tether. And if Matt kills the gods, then he's either going to leave a godless world, or he'll need new heroes to take up the mantles of the fallen gods. If he does the latter, well... I can only think of one person fit to replace the Matron of Ravens: Her champion. 🖤
@@thegreatninjaman you never know with Matt, though. We never thought dragons would destroy the home base either. I could definitely see there being a plan in place “regardless” of Predathos
I would hope the release isn't a definite thing, that's one thing that bothered me about the M9 Lucien arc and how on rails it felt, it felt like nothing they did mattered until the end and the story Matt had planned had finally come to pass I hate the whole Thanos "I am inevitable" crap with bbegs, if the party can pull off a win they should just win
@@Sp4rt4nSl4ya ehh I understand this but I guess it's a matter of taste. I think it's fine for players to not feel like superheroes who can always win if they do everything right. I think it can be really interesting to have players living through a time of inevitable change, and the story can be how they cope with that. The Chroma Conclave arc worked really well. The dragons had been planning the attack for centuries; it makes sense that their plans would not be foiled by a bunch of level 14 chucklefucks. Ludinus has probably been working toward this his whole (very long) life. The Bells Hells just figured out what was going on like a month before the solstice.
BH’s we’re starting to think “We got this” Then they couldn’t handle just flying from A to B and Matt’s all like “Oh look Keyleth is available to help”
I had a great time meeting everyone at Katsucon! I doubt the person will see this, but a Bertrand cosplayer gave me a Werthers, and I almost cried. A different Bertrand gave me one last year, and I ate it while watching the Monday episode. It’s a treasured memory during a particularly dark time in my freshman year of college. I wrote I similar comment, and that Bertrand cosplayer even replied! I hope both of you are doing well, and I hope I can make a tradition of this! :D
Love Ashton and especially Orym bringing sense back to the group and especially Imogen. "What if they're doing the right thing?" "Gee, sure hope my husband and father-in-law didn't have to be slaughtered for their 'better future'" "If they were doing the right thing they wouldn't be murdering and silencing people that investigate it." Honestly it gives me haunting reminders of Keyleth badgering VM about being better when they were literally saving the whole world.
Five hours 😳 Despite the rambling plans at the start and the phone book of every NPC thus far, this was stunning. Orym and Ashton were quality. Iyra was great to see back, although felt rather odd be was just back at the Calloway's den..
Can't wait for Sam's face when FCG reaches level 10, gains access to Divine Intervention and proves ...without the shadow of a doubt... that the Changebringer is indeed real.
It could also go the same way as Jester and The Traveler, Jester never has a successful Divine Intervention while Cad had multiple successful ones. That fact is honestly just a fun bit of the dice contributing to lore. (The real god answers but the fake one doesn't, atleast on divine intervention. Jester and Cad had very different relationships with their gods.)
@@matthijsclaessen8152 what's the title? Edit: it didn't have the title when I started watching, but I see it now. And holy crap do I love the idea of static magic.
Fearne's chaotic nature and general apathy kinda make a perfect character for the constantly daydreaming and airy Ashley to play as it covers for some of Ashley's fumbling and I can imagine Fearne stumbling around and doing most of that hahaha
Hey, I get what you were trying to say here, but maybe don't call someone you've never met "airy" it can come across as a little mean. Not that it was your intention probably, just fyi
Dude, during the Calamity the ley-lines weren’t visible until shortly before if I remember right. The fact that the ley-lines are visible and moving this early is extremely freaking big.
So... I like how Laudna reminds Imogen of their autonomy, that the gods can't take away their ability to make decisions. It definitely fits her. Having spent over 30 years with Delilah constantly reminding her that the second life she didn't even want came with strings, and the gods - more like the Raven Queen really - just... not doing anything about it I guess?, being able to choose in some aspects must have been the only form of power she had. So she doesn't think removing the gods from the picture has to be necessarily a bad thing. Makes sense. But also... um if all magic is supossed to just disappear... wouldn't that technically mean that the mysterious magic that keeps Laudna going would also fizzle out? I'm also curious what Delilah's initial plan was. We don't know if she's still somwhere there within Laudna and if she is I wonder if she would try smth during the solstice. Idk but breaking out a god-eating entity and losing all magic feels kinda counterproductive to her goals. Well, unless what we heard abt the solstice is just a big lie, nevermind then.
Episodes like this to me are solid proof for those who like to say CR is completely scripted. They spent a solid half hour trying to think of everyone they knew that they could possibly call while Matt just sat there waiting for the majority of it and reminding them of people’s names.

Any moments I missed? Feel free to post them here. Is it Thursday yet?
Jesus you are quick with that shit
How did you do that so fast!?!?!?
This is your purpose in life isn't it , it's lovely
Thank you Flando for keeping tabs during the stream! Always on pin point time!
I swear dude this guy never ceases to amaze me.
"Well, Imogen, I wish my family didn't have to die for her brighter tomorrow." left me stunned for several seconds. What a hard line!
Hard as it is, Imogen kind of needed to hear it.
Her mom's crusade is utter insanity, and will only lead to innocent people dying.
No joke. I felt my breath leave with Imogen's comment because I knew what Liam was going to say
@@MrImastinker Oh absolutely!
I’m sorry I love Liam but Orym is such a boring character, I have no emotional attachment to him, he’s so dull.
And people might forget, his family basically died for NOTHING. Like, sure Keyleth is a threat to their cause *if she knows about it*, but them targeting her was a TEST RUN. And because of the test run, Orym's family died.
Fearn's "I have a son" joke always catches Sam completely off guard and I love it
Sam is a comedy expert, maybe he is just keeping the bit going because he knows its funny... Either way I laugh about it in inappropriate places all the time.
I don’t think it catches Sam off guard. It catches FCG off guard. ;-)
(provided the martinet is right.)
I would not be making this argument if freeing predathos was easier or more frequent, or if I believed they took the stance they did because of predathos, or if the gods were mortal and their seat inherited, but I do not believe either.
you can kill thuul and ludinus the second you activate the key you can make sure they do not see the end of the solstice without stopping their plan.

What if what we're doing is just fighting change?"
"Well, Imogen, I wish my family didn't have to die for her brighter tomorrow."
The weight behind that line... It stopped me in my tracks for a minute just so I could stop and soak it all in. Nothing like the peace-loving sweetheart of the group pulling no punches to keep the end goal in focus. You guys are on a whole other level, man, I love this show so much
I had to walk a lap around my room just to process. The weight of that line was scary good.
What's the timestamp of the line?
@@ashkt336 It’s at 1:38:23
It was a great line, but I don't think Orym is a peace-loving sweetheart.
He's done the revolving door guest cameos before.
During the Vecna fight
Surely there's room behind the curtain for a foldout table and a couple of chairs. Or they could all just be bobble heads like when Ashley calls it in.

I thought of it as the change bringer not necessarily saying I have an evil alignment. But perhaps something akin to “reliance on me for all of your choices is bad.”
It’s a reach, but that’s what it’s all about right? 😂
I don't like the good/bad alignment. Replace it with social/personal, and it actually still makes sense while being easier to see "the other side" of things.

Truly INCREDIBLE line
I do like Laudna bringing up that Imogen's mom may not be on team Bells Hells. Up until now Laudna's been supporting Imogen 110%, but it's interesting that means she's the first one to ask Imogen "What will you do if your mother turns out to be an enemy?" because everyone else has been skirting around that issue, while Imogen seems to have buried it below the bedrock of her feelings.
It really does give credence to the saying "Our true friends are the ones who ask the hard hitting questions," doesn't it?
That's actually my favourite thing about the Laudna/Ashton dynamic, the fact that they are accepting of each other while still being very blunt.
Who do you think would be the one that wouldn’t hesitate to dive bomb the ship? Orym.
@@simplyridiculous nah FCG, he has been self sacrificial the whole time
@@DellikkilleD But for wrong reasons though

Good catch!
Unless I'm misinterpreting what your saying (which is very possible)
I just wanted to point out that Liam does flat out say that Lita is Will's sister and Derrig's son.
I think my eyebrows just hit the ceiling lol
Also, I feel like the conspiracy guy meme, but it has been so much fun scouring old campaign stuff looking for important things for this because there is SO MUCH
Whoaaaaaaaa
Damn this needs to be a pinned comment

Then either the ritual would already have started, but would actually last for a whole fortnight so that they could still interfere with it before it would be completed, or the new campaign goal would be to help the gods reimprison the god eater. They are my favorite duo, followed by Chet and Orym
Orym, the peacekeeper of the group: “I’m going to need you to do the thing?”
Fearne, the fey being of chaos, fire, and murder: “What is the thing?”
I do like the complexity of the relationship between Imogen, her mother, and the rest of the group.

How many of the big events are planned beforehand by the players and Matt?
I've been waiting for this conversation ever since she came back to life. I hope they make time to talk to each other more from now on.
Somehow, I don't think that destroying the world is the worst that Predathos could do.
My biggest worry would be that it realizes somehow that one of the gods used to be mortal, and decides to turn Exandria into a god farm instead of going back to hunt in the cosmos.
ohshit, I can actually see that happening :O
And here I thought I couldn't get any more scared.
Oh . Oh holy shit
Cottage core predathos lets go?
The Matron *replaced* and existing god though. she didnt create new deific power, she seized it, and i don't think Predathos would hunt gods at all if it knew how to make them from scratch.
Marisha writing notes while staring straight at Matt speaking as Ira is probably the best thing I've seen.
I learned this skill because I have always loved watching her do this and now I sell all of my university notes to my colleagues. med school teachers talk just as fast and dropping just as much lore as matt 😂
imogen: How you feel about their plan an goal?
Laudna: I don't know kinda sounds like a nice dinner from a wealthy family...an look how that ended.
i find the fact ashton of all people saying what i was thinking about the ruby vanguard fascinating.
all of them overthinking things and ashton, the one who usually just reacts says the most logical thing about this: even if the end goal is good, this people hurt a lot of people to reach, they are clearly not good people.
that's the biggest flaw of "the end justifies the means" mentality, how can a group can be trusted to make the world a better place when their actions make it a worse place?
Plus, the end goal is not good. Sure, you can debate that the gods are bad, but in the end nobody in this party knows what they're talking about when it comes to religious stuff.
Wish world leaders would figure this out

No need to use another spell.

considering its only episode 49 and the other campaigns were 100+, i think pedathos is destined to be released.

The dragons had been planning the attack for centuries; it makes sense that their plans would not be foiled by a bunch of level 14 chucklefucks. Ludinus has probably been working toward this his whole (very long) life. The Bells Hells just figured out what was going on like a month before the solstice.

Can't wait for Sam's face when FCG reaches level 10, gains access to Divine Intervention and proves ...without the shadow of a doubt... that the Changebringer is indeed real.
Wonder if she'll spoil him as much as the wildmother did Cad
Aren’t the changebringer and wildmother the same goddess or am I going insane
@@TheAceUpYourSleeves no different Melora and Avandra
he might not get the chance to prove it if they fail though.
Ok the combo of thumbnail and episode length has me on EDGE!
Me too. I was like 5 hrs. Oof it's gonna be an intense episode
Why isn't there a title!?!
And that title. Also very meta.
I stayed up until 3 am to watch the livestream...it's a banger.
@@matthijsclaessen8152 what's the title?
Edit: it didn't have the title when I started watching, but I see it now. And holy crap do I love the idea of static magic.
Ashton’s morality rant at around 1:43:00 is perfection.
Ashley is a Fey, you didn't know that?
1:38:00 Liam's subtle facial expressions, you knew he was gonna deliver from gold and he didn't fail to impress. Really drove it home.
Dude, during the Calamity the ley-lines weren’t visible until shortly before if I remember right. The fact that the ley-lines are visible and moving this early is extremely freaking big.
Laura: (whispering) "Seven days...."
Travis: "Shut up!"
2:37:39
What was that about?
@@csarmii its referencing the ring. Travis HATES the drowned dead creepy girl hiding behind hair aesthetic
I want "mobster who doesn't have a leg, has a kenku?" On a shirt SO badly
I think it was 'log' as in captain log
Episodes like this to me are solid proof for those who like to say CR is completely scripted. They spent a solid half hour trying to think of everyone they knew that they could possibly call while Matt just sat there waiting for the majority of it and reminding them of people’s names.
