In Indian theatres there is a 10min break in between the movie for popcorn, washroom or whatever you would like to do .. so yeah that's the intermission u saw, which is technically not valid for other countries :p

Fyi- the actress who played " sky" is kalki koechlin.. She is much more than u think.. She is a hell of an actress... To see that react to the trailer " margarita with a straw"...thank me later.
Cussing is part of the Indian rap scene as well. But the director Zoya Akhtar wanted this movie to reach out to a wider audience and to get a U/A certificate decided to not include too much cussing. Also, Alia is like a mini Meryl Streep over here. So we are kind of used to her giving very authentic performances in every film. But Ranveer gave a very grounded performance and he did his own singing (rapping) which is quite a huge deal for actors here.
Yeah guys... I know she's got a long way to go before getting anywhere close to Meryl Streep. Hence "mini". All I meant was once you are used to a certain level/kind of performance from an actor, you tend to take them for granted. So personally for me Ranveer stood out more than Alia, just based on their previous works. ✌️

Cursing is not appreciated in Indian culture. Its seen as uncultured behaviour. Its now starting in here among the youngsters. But not many people like it or appreciate it unless it is justifiable. Any matter can be put across someone with words and cursing never solves problem but enrages the person in the opposition. Words without cursing are more powerful than the curse words.
@@OURSTUPIDREACTIONS The movie was great even without it but the truth is, appreciated or not, cursing happens and very much so in the neighbourhood that is shown in the film and also probably in Indian rap. Unfortunately, over here because of the curse words, a movie does't get the required Universal certificate(which is necessary for the film to reach mass audience) so writers/directors have to sometimes compromise on the language so that it reaches mass audience.Which is sad actually. Yes, the younger generation uses the curse words. But who? The college going students who hardly knows about life, world and whine about every little insignificant things starting from assignments to surprise testes and no AC? Or the people with rotten brains and garbage imagination? Like the people of the shows from AIB? And un educated uncivilized commoners? Or the undereducated bollywood dumb heads like Arjun kapoor and his peer gang? Yes, ofcourse these all use the curse words. And I have done my complete studies in Indian schools and colleges itself. And thanks to this new trend that most of our younger generation learns the useless part of the vocabulary of any language and the required part of vocabulary stays untouched; shrinking a larger, beautiful languages into a language of few boring, repetitive words. This generation that thinks that saying "I dont know" to every simple question is cool is the junk generation just like the food it eats and appreciates.
@Sunil Kumar Ofcourse the creativity is not owned by any one single category of people. But as any art form starts spreading from region to region, the art form is always supposed to develop and refine itself with good aspects of anywhere it propagates through. Turning either negative or staying stagnant is not good for any art form. #CursewordsAreJunk
In the US intermissions are only 5 seconds because large popcorn have unlimited refills. If they have an intermission, they will lose money on everyone coming out to refill popcorn. Every other country in the world (Australia for example) actually has a 10-15 minute intermission, because popcorn isn't unlimited in Australian theatres. I've watched movies both in australia and USA to know this
Just one thing to add on your review about main character (Murad). He was not overshadowed by people but movie is toned in a way not to project him as a hero. This is denoted by his first shot when he enters in a non focussed shot as a side kick to Moeen. Knowing the personality of the actor, I can say that it was one of the most difficult roles for him specially.
Also if you wanna se some great work of Alia, react to HIGHWAY trailer. Its a film about Stockholm syndrome and child abuse. It is one of her best performance but please find its english subtitles coz the trailer doesnt have them.
Zoya Akhtar (director) didn't include cursing in the film coz it'd have been rated 18+ by the Indian certification board otherwise and kids wouldn't have been able to watch the film.
Yeah, Cussing is not a major part of Indian Hip hop music. No rappers here abuse in their songs especially not Divine on whom this film is based. And well he did a cameo in the film. The judge who introduces Gully Boy in the contest's final is Divine.
there is no cussing ….because the director Zoya Akhtar --deliberately didn't want to put it in as she wanted a U/A certificate as she wanted children to watch it …..if there had been cussing she would have been given an A certificate ..which will NOT allow kids to watch it !!
After intermission movie changes in India. Intermission helps you to revive and get freshed. You get more time into auditorium. No life without intermission.
Ahaha loving the fact you weren't clued in that the quiet guy, Rnveer is in fact one of the most extrovert - and very talented- Indian actors. I started with Bajirao so I was in a better spot. ( then went backwards and watched his earlier stuff).
Korbin, the world, of the movie, that you talk about is the same world as depicted in Slumdog Millionnaire. I haven't watched Gully Boy but based on the trailer I presume it is shot in Dharavi in Mumbai. Dharavi is the largest slum in Asia covering an area of 2.1 sq. km (approx. 3.5 times the area of the Vatican) and with a population of about 700,000. Indeed, Dharavi, is a world in itself. There is also an eponymous 1993 Bollywood movie that is themed on the dreams of the denizens of Dharavi.
I'd like to correct you guys. Ranveer's acting was not weak. He was playing a weak, introvert guy. A guy afraid of speaking in public, let alone rapping. Too afraid to stand up to his abusive father. He was struggling with self worth hence was deeply affected by people constantly tried to put him in a box.
Sorry for so many comments. I'm commenting as I'm watching. Well the reason why movie didn't have so many cuss words was because the language of characters is strong in itself without cuss words. The accent is Mumbai's local accent as well as the slangs. Another reason is that Censor Board wouldn't allow unnecessary cuss words. They actually made the makers replace the few cuss words with milder cuss words. In my opinion, movie didn't need any cuss words. It's not a gangsta movie after all. Movie is filmed in Dharavi area- mumbai's slum area. It is actually very dense and claustrophobic. Slumdog Millionaire is also based on Dharavi. Real gems have come out of this area. Don't mistake their depravity for their lack of zeal for life. ;)
We have a 20min intermission in India for freshening up,and getting refreshments..while they play ads on the screen. Intermissions are Huge money spinners. Cuss words get beeped out as per censors and to make it a family film, most movies keep cussing to a minimum. Also, cussing in front of elders(even outsiders) is a strict no no in our culture. Till about 25 years ago,if someone who was close to the family caught you using foul language, they could just smack you and your parents would be fine, not so much now.
Alia is not really in Zero. It's probably just a few seconds of a cameo cuz the main actress in Katrina and Anushka. But yeah she is in Raazi, and she's soooo good in that.
Well..some films do use cuss words...but commercial rap in India in general refrains from using them or use them in a very limited amount...Guess that's a cultural thing...
Ok react to English vinglish trailer pleaseeee. Its a great film by the late actress Sridevi who passed away last year. She was a brilliant actor and its one of her best works #RIPsridevi
ayush deepankar They react to trailers so im pretty sure a 2 min trailer will not bore them and its a movie with a good message and great screenplay with continuity in writing so I dont know how someone can find it boring but opinions are subjective so we can agree to disagree and you can go comment about the reaction u want to see then.Bye
In India there is a 10-15 min break(intermission) in the middle of the movie but I guess in other countries they don't pause the movie which is why that must have been weird that the word 'intermission' popped up on screen.
You guys have to see Zoya Akhtar's interview with Film Companion to understand why there's no cursing and the main character who is Murad being (seemingly) overshadowed by all the supporting characters cause that's the point. It was meant that way. A lot of Ranveer Singh's performance in his movies was very predominate (you guys can check Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani). Zoya wants Murad to be the way that he was in the movie. Understated is the right word for his character. You guys notice that even in the first scene it was Moeen's character that shown walking around and then 2 guys slip walking behind him (one is the the main character Murad). Zoya even said that Ranveer in Gully Boy is very generous as a co actor because he was the lead, but he never makes you feel that, in a way that i can't explain cause I'm not articulate enough but you know what I mean. You know what’s the best thing? That #apnaTimeAyega and Doori are Sang/Rapped by Ranveer Singh himself ♥️ He is a great actor.
That's exactly how Rick explained about cussing and vulgarity. You are on point with that explanation. Indians also believe that RAP can be done without cussing and with even more meaning to it.
Alia Bhatt was not in ZERO😅. Yes she was in RAAZI! Btw thank you for posting a video most of us back here are deeply saddened by what happened yesterday, so this video has put that much needed smile on our faces! Love you both❤️ and R.I.P to our soldiers!🇮🇳
The reason that there was no cussing in the film was because they did not want the film to get an R rating. There is a lot of cussing in the Indian hip hop culture. Most families in India will find it very awkward to take their children to a film that had swear words and it would be a huge loss of business for the film if this happened.
I'd like to know how many Americans were there with you in the theatre? 😁... Wasn't interested in that specific movie actually, but your review just made me reconsider my thought on this.
INTERMISSION-- This the time when the Indian movie theaters make their money selling overpriced popcorn, nachos, water, sodas, 'samosas', etc. Generally a 5 min refueling break, but a huge money spinner for the theater.

This generation that thinks that saying "I dont know" to every simple question is cool is the junk generation just like the food it eats and appreciates.
@Sunil Kumar It doesn't mean that we shouldn't give a beautiful positive twist to it.
Thank God! I thought you aren't posting anything today, because of what happened yesterday!
Priety `what happened yesterday sis?
@@SportsSpotter #KashmirTerrorAttack
Oh I knew that but why would it disturb their videos?
Because they are also disappointed about it. And they didn't post a video around 8 am today, the way they always have done.
A befitting reply should be given to Pakistan for every drop of blood of our grateful country's peacemakers.JAI HIND!
Hi! Alia Bhatt is not in Zero, that is Anushka Sharma! Just letting you know. Nice review.
Oh sorry. Weird it says on her imdb that she was strange
She was in zero !! As a guest appearance
Alia is in zero, she has a cameo.
She appeared for few seconds with Sridevi, kajol, karisma kapoor, rani % kajol as actresses
I've watched movies both in australia and USA to know this
J M Didn’t know that. Makes sense 👍🏼 Thank you
How I'm gonna pee in 5 sec?
well the indie rap scene in India do not use curse words anyway (idk why but this is how it has happened here ) .
Alia’s other movies & trailers you shouldn’t miss
Highway 2014
Udta Punjab 2016
Dear Zindagi 2016
Kapoor and Sons 2016
Man guy in gully boy is also in simmba n padmavat ply bad guy roll and pls also react bajirao mastani trailler also ranveer sing
Its weird to see Rick without the "Apna time ayega" tattoo.
Southern India=less cussing
Northern India = $#@#$##$#$##
Rick is pretty correct... Cussing and vulgarity in words is not very common in Indian cinema and Indian culture too
Yeah, Cussing is not a major part of Indian Hip hop music. No rappers here abuse in their songs especially not Divine on whom this film is based. And well he did a cameo in the film. The judge who introduces Gully Boy in the contest's final is Divine.
Ranveer was the weakest of all ??? he is the soul of the film!!
Yes he was weakest.
there is no cussing ….because the director Zoya Akhtar --deliberately didn't want to put it in as she wanted a U/A certificate as she wanted children to watch it …..if there had been cussing she would have been given an A certificate ..which will NOT allow kids to watch it !!
After intermission movie changes in India. Intermission helps you to revive and get freshed. You get more time into auditorium. No life without intermission.
Director mentioned in one of the interview that kids should watch this film that's why 'NO CUSSING'.
Alia bhatt is the most famous young actress in India right now.
Avinash Singh She’s wonderful
And the sad part is ppl in India have turned against this movie
Uggh
If you want cursing, then you should watch Omkara 😁
Shailesh Gokhale, you're absolutely right. The film (most of it) is shot in Dharavi.
Well you must've had intermission for just formality but here we are actually given a 10-15 minutes break for intermission
Rick's 'power of words' view reminded me of an old Indian fable where in people curse a tree everyday until it withers and dies.
Gotta drive down an hour but watching it this Saturday! Was debating the hour drive but the non-spoiler review was good so I think I'll do it! :D
DO IT!
There's no cussing because the movie is inspired by the life of real rappers. And those two don't cuss.
I LITERALLY went to see the movie today, so i can come back and see your reviews of it.
Don't mistake their depravity for their lack of zeal for life. ;)
You picked Alia over Ranveer. I love you guys so much for that!
I agree that there was no cussing. Coz the directors interview she said.. I wanted children to watch this film. So cussing was very minimal
You guys should watch all the movies by the same director. Rock on, Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara, etc
Rock on is not directed by Zoya Akhtar.
In zero she was like for 20 secs. Watch udta punjab if you want to see more of alia bhatt. React to it's trailer as well..
Alia is not really in Zero. It's probably just a few seconds of a cameo cuz the main actress in Katrina and Anushka. But yeah she is in Raazi, and she's soooo good in that.
We actually have breaks in the middle of the films because they are so long. At least 10 minuets
Well..some films do use cuss words...but commercial rap in India in general refrains from using them or use them in a very limited amount...Guess that's a cultural thing...
Alia Bhat is great in every movie she does. You should watch 'Highway' of hers. Its great and it has great music too
The movie didn’t have any abusive language because the director wanted the movie to be ‘U/A’ rated so that kids can also watch it.
Ok react to English vinglish trailer pleaseeee. Its a great film by the late actress Sridevi who passed away last year. She was a brilliant actor and its one of her best works
#RIPsridevi
Pls react to dis movie its awesome
English vinglish is boring
ayush deepankar They react to trailers so im pretty sure a 2 min trailer will not bore them and its a movie with a good message and great screenplay with continuity in writing so I dont know how someone can find it boring but opinions are subjective so we can agree to disagree and you can go comment about the reaction u want to see then.Bye
In India there is a 10-15 min break(intermission) in the middle of the movie but I guess in other countries they don't pause the movie which is why that must have been weird that the word 'intermission' popped up on screen.
Great review although i only watched till 7:03... I am planning to watch the movie this weekend so the rest of the review i'll watch after that :P
Intermission is a thing in India..there is a break between every movie for popcorn, snacks or other things...
Big hug to both of you ❤🇮🇳
You guys have to see Zoya Akhtar's interview with Film Companion to understand why there's no cursing and the main character who is Murad being (seemingly) overshadowed by all the supporting characters cause that's the point.
If u find the actor Ranveer singh weekest watch Padmavat and Bajirao mastani his acting u will get to know more about him.
The movie is inspired by the story of two indian rappers Divine and Naezy..,and most of the song of the movie written by Divine....
India's Official entry for the Oscars!
Love you both❤️ and R.I.P to our soldiers!🇮🇳
abhilash mottan Thank you so much. Yes, that’s why we did it. We love you all so much 🇮🇳❤️😊
The reason that there was no cussing in the film was because they did not want the film to get an R rating.
15 i think
INTERMISSION-- This the time when the Indian movie theaters make their money selling overpriced popcorn, nachos, water, sodas, 'samosas', etc. Generally a 5 min refueling break, but a huge money spinner for the theater.
Liked the video even before watching the video. :)
The main guy is the same guy from “Simba” and “Padmavat”, he is also a very fine actor
I bet wanna see more of his work!
@@OURSTUPIDREACTIONS he is amazing. You should watch Padmavaat. His wife is an amazing actress as well. She is the lead actress in Padmavaat and she is the same actress that acted in xxx3 with Vin Diesel! Also watch Ram leela its a take on romeo juliet again the actors are ranveer and deepika. Love ur reactions literally wake up and watch ur videos first!
Hey guys u should review #tumbbad its a Bollywood #masterpiece and has imdb rating #9
Not having curse words in the movie was a deliberate choice made by the writers because they wanted children to watch it too.
twittaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh :D love that every time
There is no cussing because it’s a pg13 film. Many of the gully rap as they call it doesn’t have cussing
I haven't seen the movie yet but I know so without a shadow of doubt ALIA BHATT is a gem 😭😍
(Also, it's pronounced as Butt😂 enhance the H sound)
Marvel Stan Thank you
Usually interval will be around 10-15 min in Nepal/India. People take short break during this time
They don't quite translate the cuss word in English that correctly
That's why no one put English subs for the Gangs of Wasseypur 2 trailer. They didn't know what to put there.
In India, every movie has an intermission when the audience in the theatre gets a chance to get out and go to the toilet or buy popcorn, etc. It's about 8-10 minutes 😁
