Some simple tips for snagging salmon anyone can do is
Tighten up your drag to max pretty much, as much as your fingers can turn so when you hook the salmon just walk back no need for reeling and always keep your rod up to keep tension ofc, if your fishing on the beach, same thing just sometimes you may need to reel and check your hook every now and then, snagging usually bangs up the hooks.
Good luck and have fun fishing yalls

Gotta tell you I love all your videos been a sub for many years. Your cooks are unparalleled. I swore to myself my first tuna caught on my boat I was doing your tuna wantons. Well after working for 4 years on my late fathers boat it finally happened. Was in Pensacola for 2 weeks and got a huge black fin. Made tuna 4 ways one was your wantons (4yr old video) with your lime zest spicy mayo. I was lucky to get one to eat for myself. My family devoured them. Thanks for all that you do for all of us who can only get out sometimes. Keep your family close we love the human that you are

Rod you want to have fun while you're out there fishing on the boat up there. Try some traditional drop line handline fishing. I'm telling you that you will have fun and love it. You will be surprised with it. Just a jig and a line. Find out what fishing was like before rods and reels were around. Believe it or not I've never caught a salmon or halibut on a rod and reel in my life. It's always been with droplines and I'm 62 years old. Must be the Norwegian in me lol. But once again great video as usual. Keep them coming brother. Can't wait until I'm healthy enough to get back out there fishing and hunting. But I'm going to say it again. You you're brother Gabe and his girlfriend Kelly's video have helped me in my recovery from bypass surgery. It's been part of what has been keeping me going looking forward towards the next videos from each one of you. God bless you Sarah the girls you're whole family and crew brother. Stay safe and safe travels brother.

Robert, you have brought back a lot of great memories with your fishing in Alaska. I was very blessed with having been able to fish there once in the summer of 1069 and again in 1973. I still dream of being able to bring both of my married sons with me and do some dad stuff with them in Alaska. I am so grateful for my parents having the vision and the money to do this way back in the day. Thank you again for sharing. May our Lord continue to protect and bless you and your family.

I lived on the Kenai Peninsula(Soldotna) in Alaska in the 80's when our kids were small. Watching this video sure brings back memories of our life there. Also made me realize how much I miss that whole lifestyle. If you Arrington's are still there on the 4th, don't miss the Seward 4th of July Marathon up and then back down Mt. Marathon. Anybody that survives that can easily take on any regular marathon.

note sockeye salmon are normally 3-5 years old when they spawn, they normally spend 2 years in freshwater then normally spend 2-3 years in the ocean (some fish called Jacks only spend 1 year in the ocean).

1:00 just for info salmon dont use sent or smell of river to come back but they use the magnetic field of earth like a compass and gps
its the same systeme Monarch butterfly and turtles use to come back on their spawn sites
more globally Magnetic detection is used by a lot of fish ( tunas / sharks and whales ) to navigate and migrate in the oceans and migratory birds also
    nature is amazing

I have some really good friends of the family that live in Homer Alaska kinda crazy how we met they used to live here in Tampa Florida and he worked for my dad driving a concrete mixer and the friendship went from just at work to first wanna go fishing with us to let's go in on a hunting lease so on and so forth....... Lol Then his dad ended up with cancer so they moved to Homer to be with his da and now mom isn't doin good!! Anyway long way around to say we are planning our fourth trip back up to hopefully do some hunting this year it will be the first time that we will be up there to hunt it's going to be a lot of firsts for me personally as for my dad it's going to bring up memories of his childhood since he grew up in Alaska!! Either 13 or 14 years of his growing years his momma and older sister and two older brothers were all over Alaska!! I sit here and think about how awesome that would be!! Anyhow keep up the amazing videos and fantabulous content I love every video that y'all have done I have been subscribed for year's now and with Gabe and Kelly!! Last but not least God Bless and always keep on keepin on!!
P.S. almost forgot to add on and say I am so sorry to hear your daughter isn't feeling well with her poor little ear's again!! Saying an extra little prayer for her with every prayer until we hear she is back to her cheerful normal self again!!

That reminds me of the late 60s early 70s when we moved from upstate New York to Sarasota. We lived right on the bayou and used to snag huge mullet as the schools ran through. At 10 years old that's when I first started to learn how to smoke fish, especially using button wood.

These are experiences of a lifetime for you and family that'll never be forgotten. Hey if Rules and Regulations say Treble hook, then treble hooks it is. There is nothing wrong with following state laws and regulations. Rob I wonder if you held up a fish for about 5 mins would an eagle swoop down and grab it. What an adventure and I'm glad i can be a part of it because of you and your dedication. God Bless and & Continued success my brother from another mother.👊🤝🐟

For jumping and fighting ability nothing beats the Coho or Silver Salmon. Head to Bird Creek just outside of Anchorage right now June and July for a fish that takes any lure pulled in front of it. They range into the 9 to 10 pound range and fight, jump and taste great. Reds are considered the best eating, best tasting of the Salmonids.
