  • Hey everyone! Today is our first full day of our Japan April 2018 trip and we're spending the whole day in Kanazawa! Kanazawa is a large city on the northern shore of Japan's main island (Honshu). We visited a Ninja Temple (but what kind of Ninja Temple?!), one of Japan's most beautiful gardens, Kanazawa Castle Park, and ate at the classically named Godburger! Thanks so much for watching! More trains and Matsumoto in the next vlog!

    The garden is beautiful with the blossoming cherry trees. I've been missing your videos. The day brightened up and so did the scenery. The castle wall are fantastic, and the architecture is breathtaking. The avocado burger is bigger than you! Ha! Snoopy was my first character love! What fun!

    "Liam....its moss....I love moss".... love this - I have so many photos of moss and mushrooms from our trip to Alaska. Reminds me of something from an Enid blyton book :)

      Ha ha!!! Oh I do love the moss! Alaska sounds fab - did you enjoy it?! I need to book a trip for Liam for next year, wondering where to go - Alaska sounds like a good choice!!!

      We flew up to Anchorage and spent a few days there and then took a cruise ship to Canada. It made 4 different stops I think? and went through glacier bay etc. Was just beautiful! we were probably one of the youngest people on the ship though haha. but it was still fun - we're not big party animals, so enjoyed going to trivia etc and meeting people from all around. Some started their journey with a train trip through Alaska too? Might be good to look into if you like trains. Then we flew from Canada after a few days there and went to LA/Anaheim etc :) Was a big trip - but LOVED IT.

    Kanazawa is indeed an amazing place. I visited on winter and was lucky enough to capture the whole city covered under a blanket of snow. Kanazawa Castle and Kenroukoen Garden looks magical covered in white snow!

    I'm going to recommend you watch "The Way of Tea in Kanazawa" - " the emotional sight seeing spot in Kanazawa". Presents a Japanese perspective on their hometown.
    In your video, I did enjoy hearing the cuckoo calling at the pedestrian crossing, as it does in most Japanese cities.

      It was a little chilly on that day! They rest of the trip wasn't so bad - I guess Kanazawa was colder as it was the most north we went!

    You traced many places I visited in Kanazawa. You shouldn't skip Chaya-gai though. I love this culture rich and history rich city very much.

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  6 років тому +1

      We walked through it but only for a little while - I should go back and experience it properly! Thanks for the tip!

      Chaya(茶屋)means "tea house" but is where geisha greets her rich guests or her patrons. Chaya-gai is a "tea house district" and offers performing arts to entertain. Gei-sha means performing artist and offers no sexual service. Only small number of chayas are still in this traditional business and all others have converted to other types of shops and tea shops. I heard sound of geishas were training with shamisen, 3 string instrument, from one house while I was strolling there. They do not provide their service even if you are super rich. You must have a proper reference from current regular guest or visit with them to "experience it properly" unfortunately. Chaya-gai still maintains its look and atmosphere of their best age and is the reason why Kanazawa has been called as Little Kyoto. All I could do was to visit a converted tea shop and have a maccha tea and a traditional sweet. Looking at a traditional structure of the house was very interesting to me. I hope you can enjoy there too.

    Japan really is amazing so beautiful makes England look like a 3rd world country with it's over priced public transport, knife crime, terrible customer service, racism, Brexit I could go on but it's just too depressing...
