    Another amazing video from Tractorspotter showing the world some of the amazing machines used in agriculture in the Netherlands. This is at least the second time a slurry injection machine has been shown by Tractorspotter but this trike spreader and its support vehicles are a new feature.

    Its an unusual and complex method of slurry application. I can see the logic regarding reduction of soil compaction and the need for continuous application but still, if conditions allow, a traditional slurry tanker with a disc applicator fed by the road lorry would cut out the need for the lenghty pipework. Interesting video

    • @lucasderooij753
      @lucasderooij753 5 років тому +6

      I think the main reason is that the slurry injector doesn't need to stop every time, and the trucks doesn't have to wait for the slurry tanker to return, and in the netherlands there are a lot of long stretched fields, so you don't have to drive back to the lorry from a very far distance.

    • @thechickenmaster6543
      @thechickenmaster6543 5 років тому

      There are also cases of this pipe system being used by pumping directly from the slurry storage cutting out the moving of slurry time and making it even quicker to operate

    • @paraffindan
      @paraffindan 5 років тому

      the tanker would need to keep going back to the same spot to refill of the lorries causing major soil compaction in that spot plus the constant running across the the field to where your working is to inefficient

    • @Midwest4x4f150
      @Midwest4x4f150 5 років тому

      This system is used quite a bit in the US. Except there is a tractor with a 3 pt mounted toolbar usually, or a deep disc(disc harrow, or harrow as you folks across the pond call it) with injectors mounted between the 2 sections. Most of the time the slurry is pumped to the field directly from the lagoon at the farm. Hoses could go for a couple miles. Really cuts out the need for a bunch of different people and machines. You can get away with one large tractor, one medium tractor to pump, and one small tractor to tend the hose. And 3 people. You can go until the field is done or the lagoon is empty.

    Wondering how this holds up against regulations for injection. As there are environmental regulations that do not disallow this method, but since this method is not really injecting it, it has more methane out gassing and is therefor taxed higher then really injecting it under ground.
