Good to see you back flying in the missionary pilot bush mode. Blessings in your service to those who serve the King of Kings.
Great job in providing wisdom and salvation to the villagers.
Hello dear pilot. I read about you and the work as well as the flight schedule in the past and in the future that you do in the jungles and remote places in the world. Congratulations to you. Thank you very much Nisim Dahan from Israel
Thanks for sharing....the conversation is like I am there in the plane. 👍
amazing pilot. so thorough
I watch your videos because I hate flying and unfortunately have to fly a lot for the military. Your level of calmness mixed with the stress of your video titles keeps me interested and makes me feel more comfortable. I love watching how calm you pilots are in such risky environments. Makes me think my comfy business class 737 isn’t so dangerous.
Speaking only for myself I don’t think I could ever do this. I’m just far too anxious of a person. The first second I couldn’t visually see everything I’d lose it big time. But I absolutely love watching flying videos like yours. You guys are so skilled sir, and you have nerves of steel. Thank you for doing what you do to make our world a better place. God bless you from the Buckeye state.
Flying in PNG in rainy and cloudy whether is very difficult because we have a lot of forest and mountains.
I can see and say that PNG pilots flying in density of bad weather and our rugged terrain in complete isolation makes them the bravest pilots in the world.
If you can fly in PNG thick clouds then to go and fly in other places in the world would be like having fun run.
Brother Job well done Captain Richard and God bless.
Your videos are good as you do the callouts and have a number of cameras that provide a complete all around picture of what is happening. Plus’s the instrument shots complete the details! Total complete run! Everything!
Yes true I really like this video👌
The 12 yr old in me laughs every time I hear Wewak.
LOL yup
Goruka

We wak a lot when young 😂😂😂
seriously incredible flying. you are the Man.
You're an amazing pilot in an exotic terrain - but more so amazing because you edit together excellent GoPro (I counted 5?) footage and nicely captured audio to give us a great account. Keep up the programming.
I've been away for a bit and it was great to return to bush flying in PNG. Pilots in remote and weather-rich locations must put great faith in their planes, especially the motors. Not many places to set down in an emergency.
Nice to see you back to PNG, I'm preparing my PPL here in France and I can barely not see myself in such situation as yours right now 🥶, impressive but it's inspire us a lot on how to keep calm and mentalize as far as possible ahead of the plane ! Txh a lot
Dude you love flying that beautiful single-engine turboprop Kodiak and it shows (STOL). Keep it up and stay safe. Love your videos...learning a lot from them! November/Tango/Kilo! [PNG, Missionary Bush Pilot]
I love how you talk through the entire approach! I'm taking my Multi IFR in a few months!
Another great Video. Scenery is one of the reasons why i love being up there.
Awesome video! I used to fly VFR and I love the instrumentation used today and the tablets instead of paper maps. Most enjoyable! Thanks!
Good to see you back Ryan.
Just wanted to say, "Hello". I had thought that you had "left" a year-or-so ago... was going stateside to raise funds..... obviously back and nice to see you again. Take care.
Yes, I had a year away from PNG and just returned a week or so ago
Aaand i love watching an approach when someone explains every step and reasoning. GREAT. Thank you.
BEAUTIFUL landing . Love watching your videos ️. amazing pilot. so thorough.
Your preflight emergency planning is quite sobering to observe, but yet so glad you have such attention to detail. Grateful for the work that you do, and a bit relieved that it's not me doing it! God bless you brother!
Your voice resonates so clearly from the cockpit, it's a testament to the attention to detail in every aspect. I'm truly curious about the location of this video - the backdrop is absolutely breathtaking, adding to the overall fantastic experience. The combination of your precise communication and the stunning surroundings creates a captivating atmosphere. Could you kindly share where this remarkable video was filmed? It's truly an outstanding location! 🛫🎥🌄
Ryan, Awesome video as usual!
I really appreciate that you take the time to explain and shows with arrows what's going on.
I am sold I am doing my PPL !! merci beaucoup
I fell asleep in the middle of the flight and woke up when you landed, haha
I love this garmin glass cockpit/avionics. It's super easy to navigate, learn and understand. And some of the payware planes for XPL11, 12 and MSFS2020 simulate it very close to 1:1.
Ryan, happy that you are back.
The editing on this is amazing my man. Love how you screen record ForeFlight to better explain yourself. I’ve been wanting to start making videos like this any advice for way to learn how to splice together all this footage and audio? What editing software do you use?
Good morning from Minnesota USA!! Great episode! I'm guessing we won't see you at Oshkosh this year.
Fantastic, love the approach, regards Roger
Once you make the decision to fly the approach, FLY THE APPROACH!!!! Don’t play the game of “Yes I will!” “No I won’t!” Error on the side of caution. enjoyed the screen shots as you set-up the G1000.
Patrick from Albuquerque
I watch almost all the videos posted...I love the content
Absolutely phenomenal!!.
BEAUTIFUL landing 👌. Love watching your videos 🤟✈️🦘🇦🇺
Cape Wom was a welcome sight 40 years ago in our barely VFR Cherokee . Only the NDB working occasionally!!
Inspired me to load up MSFS and do this flight in VR. Couldn't get the clouds just right but close enough. I can never seem to get GPS to do an APR mode correctly. I also learned something. I wondered what the semi arc meant when doing a VS. That is handy as hell!
Interesting flight. Enjoyed it and all the info. 🙏
Nice! Thinking the vor was aligned with the runway allowing lower minimums, maybe. Love your airplane. Trade you my PA 32. Lol
it's spectacular country you fly over.
I'm glad you were able to get into Wewak ok. My dad's friend Felix made a mess of the runway with the 3rd Attack Group back in '43 ;)
No doubt!!
Absolutely great
Welcome back to PNG good to see your doing The Lord's work
so talented! thanks for sharing.
been a while man, glad to see you're well and still doing the Lord's work!!!
Love watching your videos!
Glad you like them!
Nice presentation...and nice gear!
Beautifully edited video and great to see piloting from this perspective, quite rare. Quick editing question when doing your mass and balance on the ipad how do you get that to show up here simultaneously in the video screen?
The little red icon in the top right of the iPad near the battery indicates he's recording his screen. So the tablet is recording itself and he is just overlaying the video file from the recording of the tablet over the top of the video of him in the plane.
@@damonmcknight Wow I didnt know it was that simple. Thanks alot. I just got my ipad recently but as you can tell, Im editorially illiterate lol. Now I can overlay some skydemon recordings when I make flight videos
Another great one.
Outstanding video...your running commentary is very interesting and instructive...much more interesting than your Kitfox adventures...great job.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video man ✅
Awesome, well done 👌🏻
Thank you
Thanbk you Ryan
More commercials than a top-rated show during sweeps week. WOW
Thanks......
The rare occasion that you actually shot an IFR approach. More used to seeing you weave around and duck below the clouds. :)
depends on the type of clouds. Nice stable day like this, I'll shoot an approach every time. Afternoon storms, yeah NAH, I'm weaving my way thru it
Thanks.
Geat busy video. More like this
More to come!
Good evening, nice seeing you back flying in and out of some dirt airfield! I hope you are back flying and not flying in the USA?
You the best
awesome you are the best!
Nice 👍
Thanks!
Thank you!
Hi there. I'm flying on msfs 2020 in a Cessna Caravan. I love watching your video's. I often look what you are doing or using. ;-) Now I see you holding a device with a spreadsheet named; load and flare calculator. Is this a device special made for this purpose or is it an app. (Andoid or IO) Or an Excel sheet? I'm hoping you'll find a minute to answere my question. Greetings from the Netherlands. Tonny
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Are you using VS+NoseDN mode for those approach "steps"?
Did you get the kit fox sold in time before heading back?
☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️👍👍👍👍👍👍nice flight
Nouuuuuvember tango kilo
watching this video while drinking delicious png coffee
Good choice
What do you do if caught in an updraught under storm clouds?
Eric
Do the SAR stations already know about your flight(s) at the beginning of the day and the broadcasts are just advising them that each leg is starting?
Because the lack of readback has always made me nervous -- what if they mishear me and think I'm flying somewhere else?
yes, it's just flight following off my already filed flight plan
TAWS system test is sounding depressed lately lol
Great video
Can’t believe they don’t have weather radar
This is PNG, we don't have A LOT of things
@@MissionaryBushPilotWhich make it quite more interesting!!! Congrats from Mexico!
What are those two orange things above your head and also, do you have air condition?
Each time u land the caravan, after reversers you fast flip few things and id like to know what the switch on the roof is that you flip last above your head?
It's a harness lock, in the Kodiak harness lock is required for take off and landing
After re reading your comment that might not be what your talking about lol, do you mean after he lands?
Some videos he's kind of got a lot to do on the short landings and he's moving fast flipping switches. There's always one above his head I don't know what it does little black one I think
@@claritywindowcare8744 It's the harness lock. You'll see Ryan move forward after releasing the harness lock to free-up his movement. Must feel somewhat like a straight jacket when the harness is locked in.
November Tango Kilo
Excellent Flying . 7/9/2023yr
Please explain penalty weight at air strips
If the airstrip is shorter than normal, or draggy grass, we take off from our max gross weight
Hi Ryan. Is this video shot since you went back to PNG?
not yet, I start flying next monday
What type of license do u need to fly this plane?
Are you back in Papua New Guinea? Have you begun flying again too? 😊
I start flying next monday
@@MissionaryBushPilot Cant wait for the new adventures!
Ryan, you said July was the month you was starting your work again in PNG, is this a new video?
I start flying next monday
Can you make a video and go over your comms and communication
good idea
Don't drop your device down by your foot controls.
When did you and the family get back to PNG? What was the date of this video?
I returned a week 10 days ago. This was an older video. I start flying next week.
Wow the technology these days is amazing. And I wanted to rip that sunshade out and throw it out the window.
IMC time should only be allowed part of the time on autopilot. If one uses the autopilot as much as possible what happens to your aeronautical skills when the CRAP hits the fan and you lose the GLASS, or even just the AP takes a dump.
We have a full simulator at home base that is just like the Kodiak. We practice all the time in in hand flying
Is this a Kodiak or Cessna?
Kodiak
What headset is this
Clarify Aloft
would you take me for a ride? im in the UK and there is no way i can afford my licence i can only dream
Well, you can see the ground here. So what happens ? Nothing ?
Hi
Do you fly for Jaars?
no Ethnos 360
Are you back in PNG?
Yes
BeCareful kk :)
How recent is this video?
This was an older video. I start flying next week.
Cannibals still exist?
I want to become a Pilot, wish me luck
Good luck.
are u sure that`s max rate of climb can be achived with flaps in extended position?>:0
Difference in best climb gradient and best rate of climb, he was trying to get altitude over the shortest ground distance. POH states best climb gradient is with 20 degrees of flaps
exactly, there is best rate and best angle of climb. I was doing best angle of climb, so the most altitude in the shortest distance, but best rate of climb is the best altitude in the shortest amount of time
I got it. Tnx u guys
That's a terrible approach design!
I don't have the plate to hand, but it seems to me if you tu were at the mínima at the MAPt and still wanted to land it would be steeper than a 3° to xing the THR at 50' above. Stand to be corrected.
Also the mínima could privacy also be lowered if this approach design is outdated, using older ICAO PANS-OPS design criteria.
Even though the previous VOR APCH may have had lower mínima, it was probably many many years out of date. And you knew how reliable the ground- based instruments can be yo there in PNG.
Nevertheless, I'm surprised that you can't get a lower minima with the GNSS LNAV approach, even given the high terrain to the south of the APT as shown on the chart. Also it might be a bit better if the approach was properly runway aligned (you indicated it wasn't) and not slightly angled from the North. Also can't see why circling to land is not permitted, providing circling south of the RWY is barred.
BTW, didn't hear you set to local QNH coming in - which is what the 910 min was related to. Seen to remember it was 1010 for area QNH.
Finally you could use VNAV (even though not a VNAV apch) to assist with stabilised approach as long as you didn't bust the MDA. (but not what some of the European airlines do which is treat MDA as DA). Airlines that typically do this add 50' to the MDA. This allows them to fly the LNAV legally. Read the CANPA guidance material, probably still published by IATA.
