I tested these in a test lab many years ago only meant to be an improver for building regulation failures with minimum improvement ,be warned!
How effective are these when installed to a ceiling? would they reduce greatly the sound from noise upstairs?
Just wondering how strongly you'd recommend these? I'm having big problems with a neighbour who talks very loudly all the time and I can hear her word for word (my very thin 1940s walls don't help at all), do you think this would be enough help as I don't have much room for more? Thanks

The boards will certainly reduce the noise (52db reduction)
What are these screw "collars" you're using called? Assume they are there to spread the pressure of the screwhead on the board? I'm installing some of these boards at the moment and having some issues with localised compression where the screws go in. Thanks

Have your customers given you reviews on the soundboard 4? Looking at doing this on a party wall on semi detached. Lots of mixed reviews online
It does work but don't expect miracles. Its effective at reducing nuisance noise not blocking it entirely. The problem old houses where noise is an issue is that they are often constructed with loads of "coupled" joists and internal walls etc. Proper sound proofing costs a lot of money.. you need to do ceilings, floors, the loft etc. Sadly there is no way to really soundproof an old house to the point you won't hear anything from next door and new builds, well, you might as well live together..
If you were prepared to spend 15k doing it you might get a very decent result but who wants to go to all that trouble and expense for a semi or terrace they're not going to live in for more than a few years anyway?

Hi if I hit an acoustic board with this method to a solid brick wall and leave it short from the bottom for my rebated pipe work will it still work? I wanted to leave it short from the bottom to fit copper pipes through and then use a rebated skirting board so no pipes are visible
Yes you can fill around the pipes with foam or AC50 sealant to reduce sound transfer

Can i install this to bare brick walls that may not be perfectly plumb ?
Depending on how far out of plumb the brickwork is you could build a stud frame Infront of the wall, infill with acoustic insulation then fix the boards to the frame
Would you use these boards to minimise traffic noise or are they just designed for conversation/TV etc?
We have installed 72.5mm thermal laminate boards to outside walls & this significantly reduced road noise providing your window frames are properly sealed & double glazed
The laminate boards were installed to improve thermal performance & insulation but we noticed the reduction in sound was apparent
