Cleveland Union Depot: The City's First Passenger Train Hub
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- Cleveland Union Depot served as Cleveland, Ohio's first hub for all passenger trains between 1853-1930. In the 1890's it became inadequate and dingy looking to the many daily travelers. With the completion of Cleveland Union Terminal in 1930, Cleveland Union Depot lost the bulk of its traffic. It closed in 1953 and was later demolished in 1959.

Great video. You should do one on the history of tower cities tracks. How they went from so many to only 6,7,8,9,10east and west, and finally 13.
Yes, I support this. The way it used to look... ooo boy. incredible.
We 'had' so much greatness in Cleveland to be proud of.
.what
These make me sad but also fill me with awe
It really is a beautiful station. 2:09 Ashtabula Horror most likely. It's actually called "Tower City"
Cleveland’s 225th birthday!
Happy Birthday Cleveland!
imagine, paying money for a billboard saying don't look at this building, instead of, you know, paying to clean the building
I've really enjoyed these videos. As a lifelong resident of the Cleveland area, I find this history fascinating. Thanks for sharing! Nice work.
Do one of the Wheeling depot too. Great stuff!
I cringed so hard when they replaced the train station with a parking lot.
And it was said like it was something that was to be proud of.
The Nickel Plate Road had alot to do with the thought of CUT.
Very well done.
At @ 4:40 you show a collage of 4 depots. The Nickel Plate image should be of the Broadway Depot near the Central Market, not the third East Cleveland station from around 1930. Several images of this are free on the Cleveland Public Library site.
Very interesting video!
I swear I've heard this song in the background at the begining before. I can't remember where though.
Great job!!!
what a shame and waste i suppose back in the day nobody ever heard of cleaning a building ?
Yessssss. My City
