  • Cleveland Union Depot served as Cleveland, Ohio's first hub for all passenger trains between 1853-1930. In the 1890's it became inadequate and dingy looking to the many daily travelers. With the completion of Cleveland Union Terminal in 1930, Cleveland Union Depot lost the bulk of its traffic. It closed in 1953 and was later demolished in 1959.

Great video. You should do one on the history of tower cities tracks. How they went from so many to only 6,7,8,9,10east and west, and finally 13.

It really is a beautiful station. 2:09 Ashtabula Horror most likely. It's actually called "Tower City"

imagine, paying money for a billboard saying don't look at this building, instead of, you know, paying to clean the building

I cringed so hard when they replaced the train station with a parking lot.

At @ 4:40 you show a collage of 4 depots. The Nickel Plate image should be of the Broadway Depot near the Central Market, not the third East Cleveland station from around 1930. Several images of this are free on the Cleveland Public Library site.
