@@thegk-verse4216 Actually eating is an important mechanic - you saw flashing red bar in the bottom of the screen sometimes? Well, your weapon is a monster so both you and monsters can enrage and you do that by having your sword bite off a bit off the monster.
Plus, you don't carve parts, you perform eating attacks on the corpse.
Neat.
The only thing I knew about God Eater was that it somehow takes place in the same world as Code Vein.

Code Vein takes place in the God Eater world due to the Aragami or "horrors" emerging after those super large spikes shot up and messed a lot of civilization up and bringing the Aragami with them. R&D was divided in half with one half working on tbe tech that the god eaters use and the other researching the parasite that turns corpses into Revenants. Silva who was a general over a major batallion of Revenants was focusing on his daughter since she became her own problem on the level of Aragamis and after her defeat, he isolated all Revenants from the outside world to both protect Revenants from Aragami and quarantine the remains of his daughter to prevent her from returning and making things everywhere much worse. If Kruz never became the queen and messed things up, there would be a lot of Revenants who would become god eaters.
That raises the question when exactly CV took places chronologically?
Was it before the first game since the moon hasn't turned green, at least as far as I remember anyway
Probably before 2071 when Shio brings Nova to the moon and after 2050 when Aragami start emerging.
Likely late 2050s to mid 2060s.
There is also Louis and Karen, their last name is Amamiya, the same as Lindow and his Sister. So they all are related but I dont know if theyre brothers or Parents or something else.
Man, I remember the time when God Eater and Toukiden stood on the same ground as Monster Hunter in the days when PSP was released.
These three games completed my high school life.
I'm always glad to see another toukiden player. That game is so underrated, I absolutely love the mitama system especially in toukiden 2.
Monster Hunter FU, GOd Eater and Lords of Arcana were my PSP favourites along with FFVIICC and Dissidia DD.

it had plenty, atleast in japan, but then it kinda vanshied (and tbh, the 3rd game was rather terrible)

@@shutup1037 The first two games have actual bullet editors. Like, you can edit the properties, damage types, even shot angles, functions, and behaviors of the rounds your guns fire. There's a whole meta in the first couple of games with bullets that basically play the game for you, it's pretty nuts. And, if you don't want to trivialize the entire game, you can just spend hours in there making some absolute bull crap bullets that don't do much, but look really neat.
The third game still has the editor, but the addition of a per-mission allotment of custom rounds made the bullet editor almost entirely useless, as you just have to default to standard rounds when you run out, and the actual fun/useful bullets are so cost expensive you can only carry a handful on a mission. I'll admit that the bullet editor was broken if you knew how to trick it, but the third game ruined the whole experience.
The amount of skills the character could have was nerfed, for whatever reason. The third game only gives you, at max, half of what previous installments did. It also just lacks a noticeable gimmick. The remake of the first game had predator styles, which gave you different devouring options (the eating motion that the weapon can do that was shown in the video a couple time) and different buffs for doing them. The second game extension had rage burst, which was basically a skill-activated god-mode for a few seconds. The third game has yet to, and probably never will, get it's own flashy mechanic to stand out. Which is a shame, since it's easily the best _looking_ game in the series, but the mechanics really took a nose dive with 3.

God Eater a.k.a. the monster hunter that got a story before it was cool, plus I like how lorewise its basically post-apo The Thing except that compared to Carpenter's version this one is both weaker (less infectious, doesn't copy memories) and stronger one (can actually copy machines as living matter creating monsters that are literally living tanks).
and of course, even stronger(They can consume literally all matter aside from some byproduct they leave behind)
It can copy anything because Aragami is in constant mutation that is why they have to be eliminated before unwanted mutation occurs such as the Psion, Ashborn and deusphage
No one ever talks about this game. I think it’s pretty alright. It had a decent amount of popularity when it came out, then boom. Nothing. I for It a few years afterwards. I still enjoy it, and apparently other people still play xD
We god eater fans are a rare breed but we are extremely loyal 😂 I'm proud to say I've played every single series of this game now 😂

Both Monster Hunter and God Eater were my very first games on psp. I usually play back and forth to each game. Good old times😊
psp days....I played both but ended up enjoying god eater more maybe because its more fast paced compare to MH and that I can solo GE just fine without going for an end game equip

Have you played the other 2 games? The port have many issues (especially with the music loop glitch on GE2) but they're far better games.

The ammo customization of this game is really good, what it lacks is the variety of enemies, they just change the flavors

Wait till you discover how stupid OP bullet crafting in GE2RB is. Meteor craft bullets basically wipes everything and you can spam them infinitely with the right build and right Rage Burst options.
Yes, bullets are infinite as long as you can retain OP
@@wongsetsuna Just go for the triple flamethrower if you have the infinite bullets. It kills every stunned enemies in less than 10 seconds.
I remember spending like 5hours in the older titles to recreate super nova bullet types I found in forums
they needed like a whole minute to charge up in the air just to miss the target

The first God Eater was something I picked up way back on the PSP just so I had a PSP game that wasn't YGO or KH. Loved it, stuck with it ever since. Now last year I graduated to actual Monster Hunter, but I'd love to see this come back. Also picked up Elden Ring last year as my first Souls game, and am working through Code Vein now, so I've gotten both sides of this franchises anime play-alikes, lol.

Actually have played this game a lot on switch I love how fast it is compared to monster hunter, even down to the movement of your character with these huge weapons. It's really fun and the anime was great! The intro is so fire too!! Glad to see it getting some recognition finally! The biggest problem to me is just that you don't feel nearly as much impact in your attacks as you do in monster hunter.
thats what i noticed too, i swear if you played the other godeater 2 games its not like this. every attack has weight in it.
@@pj_mist But I'm kind of ok with it in how much faster it feels, its definitley a give and take which sucks but the speed is appreciated since monster hunter movement can feel a bit sluggish at times and also ge 1/2

Must say that case is mostly on 3. 1 didn’t have the strong weapon vibe yet. 2 can be said as the equilibrium of the others: fast movements, immersive combat, and more variants and new enemies without removing the original aragamis
Try the hammer / great sword variant that has the sluggish skill in it then you will feel each of your attacks because of how slow it is

Most important, on the God Eater you can't bring a CAT, who the can CARRY you in battle
our character is basically mute in every cutscene but finally speaks in the cutscene after the final boss

I remember I played God Eater 3 a few years ago and it was very fun, would definitely recommend it to any monster hunter fans, although it is different in some aspects you still get that same vibe.

This is actually my favorite game series.
One of the biggest reasons I love God Eater is the fact you can bring and customize NPCs in missions.
Great series I hope we get a fourth game in the future

im so proud seeing this, i played all Godeater game, Burst (and the remake Resurrection), rage burst, and 3. this is like easy mode Monster Hunter with cool scifi theme. best feature is the bullet creation, so fascinating.

Compared to the first two games, it's definitely easier, but there's a lot of changes that imo took away some of the fun.
Moon Ring might be fun but there's just something about the freely edited bullets from the first game that makes it much better than 2 or 3.
True. GE1's bullet editor was on crack. Spending all of you OP just to fire one bullet that flinches and breaks Aragami parts in one shot was glorious, to say the least.
Man, I've played the 1st and 2nd game but I've never played the 3rd one. Definitely a great game series

I tried the game a while ago, but my main issue with it was the amount of clutter on screen with the constant flashes and random beeps and sounds.
And the combat didn't feel as good as monster hunter to me, but I prefer a more methodical approach to combat so take that into consideration.
Completely agree with this. While the hectic combat is not that much of an issue with me, the game can be confusing and, in some instances, even too easy. Fights last like 4/5 minutes, it doesn't feel as rewarding as monster hunter
I can agree with these points, though I'd recommend the first one (Resurrection) for the best experience. The story is much less anime, the fights are difficult and the bullet editor is unhinged.
Monster Hunter makes you feel like a monster hunter, God Eater don't make you feel like a god eater. lol.
I think the main problem are the NPC
They're strong as hell, they can delete an enemy before you can kill another big target
Going solo makes everything interesting
And the special Aragami post game are even stronger
Let me tell you, i'm really good at this game but those last special aragami obliterated my 3 chances in those 4-5 minutes 🤣
Agree, but my biggest problem with it (GE3 specifically) is the gameplay loop is too short, and endgame there's not much to do and I pretty much build everything I needed with every weapon I wanted to try after like 120hrs. The endgame Ash Aragami give some good difficulty spike, I still die sometimes but basically I can delete them in 3 minutes once I have their best gears

God eater is basically a more arcadey Monster Hunter. Which basically means it was monster hunter rise before monster hunter rise.
I would love for more people to have known the anime it was very cool
When i played god eater 3. The only similarities I saw to monster hunter were the mission based hunts, teams of 4, and the equipment upgrade system. Other than that, it felt like a completely stand alone unique title with its own style of gameplay

Another game that's similar to this and monster hunter that I really wish for a sequel or port is Freedom Wars on PS Vita. They really gave that one a cliffhanger

Played this game a couple of years ago, and let me tell you this game is AMAZING! its a very underrated game but its kinda sad that the story isnt long enough and quite outdated visual for a game that come out in 2018

Seeing as you went through the whole God Eater 3 without using your shield once, you are a better player than me. Most fights I would not get through without using my counter shield benefits.

Part one had the best story (IMO), though the story trope nowadays is a bit overused so the story today might not have aged well.
1 and 2 had connected elements , 3 is like a fillier arc and cliffhanger for the next one. (Mainly just episode ein is related to game 1)
One of my favorite parts of that game was the gun smithing. You can literally create your own guns, changing the projectiles movement, speed, direction, behavior, delay and a lot more. Really cool game, even if it was a MH clone, it's very different.
i dont like searching recipes when i played, i spent hours making my own bullets (but when i finished the game ill try to recreate people made with their bullets, im so amazed by the RasenShuriken bullet recipe lol)
Those used to be the best part but god eater 3 just made it worthless that if you make anything actually good you can only bring like 1 or 2 of it which is really annoying

@@blux_cross true i mostly used raygun in 3, i had one fight where the floating monster appeared (forgot the name) and just destroyed it with 3 reserved raygun blast in one targeting 😅 not even customized bullet, just the Large one i bought in shop. Im playing the story so my gear matches the difficulty, its not OP gun or anything.

I used to always use the sniper because how powerful it is (besides the comically overpowered blast) but now it can barely deal any worthwhile damage

I played quit a bit actually. I remember not having a multilangual version of God eater burst (no idea if it existed). I had to play in english which was quite hard at the time since it's not my first language.

1 and 2 rock, many derivatives from each aragami is what makes it challenging, less weak points, more hitpoints and damage, sadly 3rd installment lack of that
1st game release on psp but later got ported to pc/ps4.

Funny how the moment I saw the title, memories suddenly came back. To clarify: I have a friend who had a PSP back in 8th grade. He let me borrow it everytime he brings it to school. One of the games he had is this. And he was also the very same person I saw who had Monster Hunter. Which was not really my thing during those days but I'm fine with God Eater since it's "Anime". But a friend who's an absolute addict at Monster Hunter actually introduced me to it and that's when I got to like it quite a lot. Still can't forgive him for giving me a traumatizing first time. That f*cker knew I'm still a beginner, who literally had no idea what the f*ck he's doing, yet he threw me with a Rathian to be his bait. Though I would love to play the other God Eater games, I can't since it's pricey from where I am, and they money I can spend there can go to much better expenses. Although I'm saving for it and hopefully get to play it in the near future. 😊 I don't mind being late. I care more for my own personal experience anyway. 😀
God Eater 3 may be a bit pricey for me too even on sale, but I bought GodEater Ressurection and God Eater 2 Rage Burst that was on bundle in a doable price on sale(probably translating from my currency to dollar, i think i got it at an average of 4-6$ dollars). This was on Steam PC anyway, so I dont know what platform you play on. But I am sure you'll get it someday
