Hey all, I hope you enjoy the video! I invite you to my Discord server - link in description! Just a friendly reminder that the schematics, world downloads, and my resource pack can all be found in the description.
The structural support elements in your roof are called, flying buttresses. One of the best names in architecture. Great build, by the way.
Just wanted to mention, in addition, that flying buttresses are especially seen in Gothic architecture!
The build looks amazing! The details you have especially on the outside where a lot of it is just stone makes it so interesting to look at! My only comment would be on the interior, there is no center aisle to the pedestal, a lot of churches have a clear center aisle to the pedestal! Which is why ‘walking down the aisle’ is such a big thing for a lot of weddings considering historically they were done in church’s.
The cathedral is looking awesome!! Some things id like to point out, maybe it would look better if the middle section didn't have those chairs, as it is a passage and i'd imagine the flow of people would require more space, not only that but there are some rituals that involve walking in the middle of the corridor. Another thing I would do differently, is that normally instead of individual chairs, most churches and cathedrals have one big bench, I like to imagine that it is because in those times the faith was something that brought people together, so families would sit next to each other in the same bench. Also some of these benches have supports for kneeling as you do that a lot in churches. Of course those are just some things I would do differently, but nonetheless the build is coming together quite nicely, very exited for the next parts!
In many churches there are people buried under the flooring, it would be a nice touch and you could say that they are for example, important people or priests, etc.
yes!! ossuaries
I think I'd go with pews rather than chairs, I think. Looks more churchy that way. Build looks great
You know it's a good day when FitShaw posts a video
The support bits are flying buttresses! I took one architecture class in high school and that's the one thing that stuck with me 😂 great video as always and MAN THAT CATHEDRAL IS AMAZING
Beautiful build. Love the relaxing and calming gameplay.
Awesome video as always! With how good your builds look in (mostly) vanilla, I can't imagine how your cool your builds would look in modded minecraft lol
As always you made an awesome build. But I have some nitpicks
1. Do not put seats in the aisle leading to the altar.
2. Use pews instead of individual seats (if it doesn't look too boring).
Amazing as always!!!. I'm waiting for the full completed city, is going to be insane!!
Really really love this. Id love to see longer videos from you. I think it would be cool if you made a statue of some kind like a shrine or even a room of candles
Like from the really old cathedrals ive been inside theres always a room with a ton of burning candles and paintings and stuff
Someone else already said this too but the center isle is super important and the chairs would be more like long benches (pew) than single chairs
The details like the organ and torches are so amazing
Make that chandelier bigger!!!!
Great ideas love the candle room idea!
When the cathedral also has gargoyles, monsters (and bad spirits) will definitely not spawn in/on it! Just to help out those lovely pressure plates you placed ;) Great build Fit!!
Loved the video, beautiful cathedral. Could you possibly make a tutorial on how to build it? I would use the litematica, but I unfortunately don’t have access to mods.
gorgeous!!
This video was very much enjoyed
it looks really good!!
Glad I sub’d, Love the builds and content as always man
love this gorgeous as usual! what i will say tho is the idea of a ceiling painting- or a fresco isnt entirely historically accurate to a medieval build- as i am assuming this catherdral would be in medieval england- chruch iconography and funding of artists in the (CATHOLIC) chruch was more popular in italia during the high renaissance due to the popularity of icons and stuff.
Make your base a flying ship because that would be so cool
I love your channel man, hope you get the attention you deserve!
Thank you!
As always you nailed it
Your build is beautiful! Roughly how many hours of gameplay is in one video?
W video 💥
Add a memorial for the original #showcase Discord channel to the cathedral
You should get some furniture mods
the cathedral looks stunning, cant wait till we get to see the finished result in the city, may i ask why you chose for individual seats instead of benches which is seen in most cathedrals?
I was playing around with techniques but I will definitely go with the benches
@@FitShawMC ah okay, I really like the cathedral so far so I cannot wait till the next video, keep it up man
Will you be adding mods in this let’s play for gameplay?
🙏 🙏 as holy as your vids!
