    Can I ask, do you leave your magnetic screen protector on all the time? I know the idea is that you can use it when you want to, but I like the idea of leaving it on, given I will only use the iPad at home.

    Thinking of upgrading from an M1 11” to a M4 13” for the larger canvas size to draw. Is the size still relatively portable? I’m mostly using the ipad on a desk or table but I do like to sketch on my lap a lot.

      @JimmyLamStudio  4 місяці тому +3

      I think portability is fine. I think the only difference is how willing you're able to bring it along with you. Like, I just went to my cousin's graduation ceremony and I brought my iPad mini with me. I would never would have thought to bring the iPad Pro with me. Just situational stuff like that. If you plan on using it on your lap some times, either a zugu or esr case could be useful. I think only ESR has there's available at the moment amzn.to/4arwOJw

    Fantastic video, an in-depth look from an art first perspective. Exactly why I watch your content.
    On a side note did you opt for additional apple care since the new iPads are so expensive? I'm debating adding it to my purchase as it's a sizeable investment.
    Seeing your defective pencil pro had me concerned as well.

      Thanks! I really appreciate that. I did add AppleCare which I also did with the 2021 iPad Pro at the time. I added it since they both added new displays that haven't been on an iPad before so I was a little worried about it bugging out down the road or something. OLED burn in seems like less of an issue on smaller displays but at least I can be covered in case that happens too. I have basically wasted money every time I have gotten apple care on anything since I never had to use it but I would rather play it safe.

      @@JimmyLamStudio I feel the same way. Now I just have to wait for the updated mothca screen protectors to drop and see if the procreate update is good.
      We'll see how long it takes before I talk myself into buying it. I think I'm almost convinced as I'd be upgrading from a 2017 10.5 inch pro that's getting a little long in the tooth.

    I’m looking for my first iPad for comic illustration.. I use Clip Studio.. what do you think?

    In your opinion do you think the 13 inch is worth it over the 11 inch for artist?

    • @JimmyLamStudio
      @JimmyLamStudio  4 місяці тому +1

      For me, yes. having it a little bit bigger just makes it feel like a better productivity device. I just feel a little more efficient and less cramped while drawing. Depending on what you are accustomed to drawing with, it may not even be noticeable but it is something I notice when I draw on something smaller.

    Should i go for ipad air m2 or ipad pro 12.9 5th gen 😭?

    • @JimmyLamStudio
      @JimmyLamStudio  5 місяців тому +1

      Would this be for art/Procreate? If you really want to use the new Pencil Pro features and want the landscape camera, I think the air would be best. If you are kinda indifferent about those things, the 5th gen Pro would still give you a better 120hz miniLED display, FaceID and it starts at 256gb for around the same price as where the new 13" M2 Air would start around which comes with 128gb. Those are the only factors I would consider when deciding. Hope this helps.

    would 265gb be sufficient for procreate and other usage has such in vector drawing and animated gifs and all?

    • @JimmyLamStudio
      @JimmyLamStudio  4 місяці тому

      I probably had close to 1000 procreate files on my previous iPad Pro and it took up about 70gb. I don’t do vector or animation but they’ll end up being larger files. I personally think you can manage 256gb as long as you know what you are doing and not hoarding unnecessary things on your iPad.

    Would you have gone for the nano texture if available in a lower memory size? I’m returning the ESR magnetic, so grainy on screen.

    • @JimmyLamStudio
      @JimmyLamStudio  5 місяців тому +2

      I don’t know yet… I have always put on a screen protector just for protection and I don’t know how durable the nano texture screen is. It seems to be on the delicate side if you really need to use Apple’s cloth to prevent damage to it.

    • @Gekko858
      @Gekko858 5 місяців тому

      @@JimmyLamStudio I can’t see the motcha you recommended available yet for the new iPad. Hopefully soon. From what I’ve seen even though the nano texture feels better to touch but it’s a fingerprint machine which needs regular cleaning.. but I don’t work outside and most people saying doesn’t add enough friction for writing/drawing

    • @JimmyLamStudio
      @JimmyLamStudio  5 місяців тому +2

      @@Gekko858 I emailed mothca and they said it might be 2 weeks until it is available to order. In my review for it, I mention it probably does blur the screen the most compared to other protectors and doesn't offer much texture like other paper ones. Something about drawing on it just feels really good. It basically does no damage to the pencil after more than a year, silky smooth to the touch and great for reflections. It might not be for everyone so I'm always on the fence recommending it but it my favorite to use.

      @@JimmyLamStudio which magnetic screen protector do you think is better, bellemond or ESR?

    • @JimmyLamStudio
      @JimmyLamStudio  4 місяці тому +1

      @@elari534 the main difference between the two is the texture and screen quality. ESR has less texture which is better for the screen quality. Bellemond has more texture but you'd lose screen quality. I dont know if bellemond has anything for the new 2024 iPads yet though.
