There are a lot of very nice images in this video. There are 4 that I particularly like. 1) The color contrast photo at 7:58 is a great example of creating an interesting image from the simplest of elements. This is something I will have to try. 2) The lake reflection photo with boathouse at 13:26. 3) The winding trail at 14:48. I don't know how many times I've tried to take such trail photos and failed. Maybe it's the lack of depth. 4) The cave photo at 16:12. I love the moss covered boulders. Keep up the good work!

Liked seeing all the square format compositions. Was it a predetermined square comp day, or did it just turn out that way?

Thanks! The original idea of the trip was to just make square crop images. I only remembered that the cave was in the area halfway through the walk so that became the emphasis for the video

Beautiful woodland compositions that I find particularly difficult to photograph together with some useful tips. Do you shoot the square format “in camera” or at the post production stage ?

I believe Rob Roy was specifically outlawed because he, or one of his cronies, ran off with a loan from the Marquis of Montrose and didn't repay it, not specifically anything to do with the stramash in Glen Fruin. Out of his own territory he did go by the name Campbell (he was 'employed' by the Duke of Argyle to collect blackmail), I;m guessing the accent was pretty much the same, as did many MacGregors, or even the name Smith in the lowlands (maybe Scott made that bit up).
There was an ongoing feud with Graham of Killearn as he was the magistrate who had found Rob Roy's son Robin guilty of kidnapping a lassie and forcing her to marry him, apparently 'marriage by abduction' was quite common; there's possibly an element of this in the tradition of 'running away' to Gretna Green. Getting back to Graham of Killearn I think he did hang the son. Rob Roy, allegedly, one early misty morning hid behind our village hundred tree intending to kill the magistrate, stepping out he struck down the man who was walking by unawares... unfortunately it was a case of mistaken identity and it was a passing Colhoun that was fatally chibbed. There's also an old scorched wooden door in one of the farmhouses on the Carse (now a kitchen door, but it used to be the front door) that Rob Roy tried to burn down to get at Graham of Killearn ... failed again.
Rob Roy was suspiciously late to any Jacobite battle as well, always arriving just in time to be seen taking part in the retreat, playing both ends towards the middle I'd guess. He managed to die in his bed at a ripe old age ....
It was a crow, or more likely a raven.
Nice shots by the way 😊
