I can't imagine how much the ballet teacher is suffering. Ballet was described to me by a ballet dancer friend as "military school for girls" so the inability to create a disciplined and organized classroom must be eating that ballet teacher alive. What a tragedy.
This is Gen z too unfortunately. I taught adults in a career training last year and had these exact issues. I was shocked honestly, I remember my time in school and we had a few who were like this but not the majority as it was. I'm a late millennial ('94) and i would argue that this started with Gen X and the tech boom.
No argument about that! It’s unfortunate this has been going on for long time, but it has gotten way worse with Gen Alpha’s, and its scary at this point.
I agree with this so much. If you look at gen X they are such an indulgent generation and they see children as their accessories. Millennials have anxiety, most work constantly and put their young children in daycare right away which inhibits social development.
I am a Gen X parent of 3 kids. My youngest is technically Gen Alpha and while she's a headstrong little kid, she's always very respectful of teachers. All my kids are solidly sensible and very good academically. We are not extremely disciplinarian at home (important for kids to be independent) but we have rules and the rules we have are important ones. I would not tolerate one of my kids back-talking at school unless it was clear that it was merited.
Hey not all Gen Xs are like that. Are you a hollowhead? My dad and mom are the kindest people alive. Do you know that stereotypes aren't real? - Signed, a Gen Z@@1950sWasPeak
The question is; will your kids a adults together with the 10% sensible people of their generation be able to keep our society going, when the other 90% are total failures?
Same. I’m a teacher, although I don’t think I’ll be back after this year. After giving both 1st grade and middle school a shot, I can say that being a parent sounds horrible I’d any of my kids turn out like these kids. At the same time though, I see that’s it’s mostly society and parenting that’s making these kids this way and that I could always try and parent differently. But I don’t know, I’m still young and don’t even have a career that I’m content with staying in.
Teacher here - but I won't be speaking from a teacher perspective. I recently started a brain development club for kids and I will tell you this - NEVER again. The parents were the worst and behaved like spoiled children, while their kids behaved well and had fun. Some were out of control though and then when I told the parents, the parents blamed me. Lol
Those kids have a huge privilege that they were not beaten, starved and screamed at by their parents and are not even aware of the trauma that they got spared from
For real- everytime i see these people acting like this i just laugh because i know these kids have never experienced somebody telling them “no”. Not even any discipline, just the word no. I currently work at a donut bakery, and there’s SO MANY spoiled kids who act like they can just buy the entire store lol

There is definitely a big difference between a kid doing/ saying something you wouldn't expect a kid to do & a kid having absolutely no respect for others or self control. The first can be a little funny. The latter is not.

A big saying around us is 'you have to work to be able to play' because that's how the real world works.
