Please don’t stop making these they are so good. Your lore videos were the first I ever saw and whenever I’m feeling nostalgic I go back and listen to the first videos you ever put out. Your lore videos are so much more unique than anyone else’s. Please keep making them.
"..beyond the blue, spherical ball in the sky" Binge-listening to your lore videos is the biggest reason Ive stayed with Destiny. Running patrol laps on venus, grinding the court of oryx non-stop, farming stupid amounts of freaking faction tokens. Just standing in the city and looking up at our still smoldering tower for too long before logging off. Youve been a member of this solo-players fireteam, ever since your feature in the Destiny Year 1 celebration video. Thank you for the videos.
You know, I've been playing since Destiny 1's Beta, and I've never once been down to the Last City to speak to or interact with the people of it. It's almost as though we've been protecting the Traveler more than the Citizens under it all this time.
'we' are doing both. rest assured and endure. Don't be like that one guy who Wants to escape and still dare use the [O] for 'just a toy' that he would use. but still he hasn't.... (how nice still to see his Limitations being shown for all the words that he throws around to the more wk-minded players)....
Great video! I really enjoyed this lore piece. It was nice seeing what the citizens of the city think of guardians. We have never really done anything for the city in the game outside of taking down big threats. I would like for Bungie to put some missions in the game where we do help out the city. I always thought it would be cool if we built an outpost outside of the city and picked up bounties from there. The more that we did the larger the outpost would become. Once it hit max level we could start a new. We could defend the outpost from attacks as well.
Given what lingers outside the city walls and always presses inward I feel much of the anger is misplaced. But the distance between the Guardians and the civilian populace is not good, always felt we were fighting more for the floating god that is the Traveler than the city and its people. Fantastic stuff Wallen, always felt that the wider city and its populace needed to be relevant in game. Good to see the break has been good for you, very much looking forward to the next one. Although the concept that the Pyramids are turning humanity against each other by buyng off and corrupting the Guardians with powers, all while distancing them from the rest and turning everyone from each other. Some good information warfare and psyops there.
Excellent video! I have a lot of thoughts here, the briefest way to say them is: everyone's hands are tied. Zavala is a politician because the Factions bicker over scraps rather than trying to secure a unified vision. "Guardians are focused on our pockets and glory" because we can't do otherwise. The game has structured us to be "other", to be away. Every day, I go to the Tower and look down at the City, wishing to live among the people, help them, but I can't. Our story has been closer to the Firebreak Order, best defense is a good offense, but I would love to work closer with the people. I may make a video on this, bridging your lore commentary and how the game may/could develop, mechanically, to move in this direction. My biggest question, though, do people want this? Would there be a high enough demand for this deepening of RPG elements in D2 or would it only serve a small fraction? I hope the former, as that's where I want the game to go, but the lore and RPG communities in Destiny always seem tight-knit, but small, like the Free Capitals.
that 'glory' part is still of Gameplay perspective. if only bungo didn't use 'our' Gameplay actions as 'canon'. 'we' reminded as protectors and Warriors for the [O] and those under 'our' watch. Not some casually-viewed Loot-scavengers....
Endure, have at least a little bit of faith (though only very Few whosoever they are), hope... otherwise, the words of those like Eris Morn not too long ago since [Shadowkeep] will continue to remind 'us' Guardian-players for 'Why?' most of 'us'/'them' are secretly Drowning into the *[Enemy's].* (mostly directed to those who are like a certain Rogue Turned back entirely. or Worse still, 'admiring' the *[▲] [Itself]* before the coming of [Lightfall] just because of their Shallow Eyes towards the [O]).
Riis was destroyed by Oryx, servant of the Darkness. After the Traveler left Riis knowing that the Darkness would come to their home world if she stayed, Oryx and his hive(along with the Choir) arrived to destroy their civilization bringing the Whirlwind. The Traveler doesn't have any fault, the Darkness is obsessed in their "game".

Loved the way you broke down this video @sirwallen this is incredible!
Likely a lot better than that of the citizens of the Imperium
What if we saw the rise of new factions in the city. That would be pretty cool, maybe bring the Concordat back.
@Justin Dolliver that is true.
We as guardians and the people of the city are very disconnected from each other.
Welcome back wally, hope you had a great break
Where is this from? Is there a lore source that I can reference?

And don't forget to pay Sarge some respect and tribute now that Saint-14 has anointed him as Lord over all pigeons ;p
Pyramid Gang?
Citizens? I say to be conscripted Guardians...or soul food.
The darkness has soldier's, the Vale .
