  • Inkscape 1.2 now gives you the ability to create multi page documents and export them as multi page pdf s. This is fantastic news if you want to use Inkscape’s versatility to produce books to sell on KDP, leaflets, instruction booklets and more. KDP is a great way to earn money online and with all the low content niches out there, there is always room for newcomers to make some extra cash.
    In this video, I run through all the functions available with the new multi page feature. I show you how to use the multi page tools, step by step. We’ll look at how to add new pages, how to set page size and resize pages using the corner handles. I show you how to change the order of your pages, how to add labels and how to navigate your pages.
    This new functionality lets us now use Inkscape for desktop publishing. As Inkscape is always evolving, I’m sure this is just the start of things to come.
    A little bit of knowledge can go a long way - so let’s get creative.
    Follow along with ‘Create For Free’ to create your own artwork - for Cricut, print on demand good, low content publishing with KDP, T-shirt designs, etc.
    In this tutorial, I’m using the latest version of Inkscape - Inkscape 1.2

    This video was excellent! I have been using inkscape for years and have got into many bad habits and old methods of doing things, Only recently I updated my inkscape and then I tried to view the first page of a pdf manual and to my surprise up popped pages of the pdf. I was quite surprised. After a quick google I came accress your video, thanks for the introduction to yet another great feature of inkscape. I am really quite ashamed that I had not realised this was available since I have been making graphics and animation's and drawings using inkscape allready great features. Thanks again. Terriffic !!!

    Thank you so much for this video!! I am learning to digitize sewing patterns and I could not for the life of me figure out how to separate my pattern pieces onto multiple pages. This was super helpful and clear and concise!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you!! You have just gained a new subscriber for honesty and for being thorough!! I have installed and uninstalled 1.2 five times, to try and get this feature to work, and why? Because other YT'ers are claiming all you have to do is click on the bottom tab to multiply the pages.....clearly not the case, as you have just demonstrated!!!

    Tinkering with the settings I also accidentally changed the icon pack back to my favorite (what you're using) lol.

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  Рік тому

      I tend to stick to the defaults for my videos, so I think its the multicolor icon pack. I've also unchecked the Wide Screen in the View drop down menu so I have the tool bar at the top and I've enlarged the icons a little. Not my favourite but I thought most people would stick to the defaults.

    Hello there.
    In fact, the option to fit the page to the current selection works, but not from the button. The shortcut works perfectly well. I think the programmers didn't bind the button with the Ctrl+Shift+R key combination. I'll write to report the weird behaviour.
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks and greets from Argentina (Hope it is from England someday).
    Marcelo.

      I honestly think the feature is broken by it's nature, rather than it's code. Selecting items is impossible during the page tool activation.

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  2 роки тому

      I hadn't thought to use the shortcut, thank for that. I had noticed that the shortcut for the 'fit the page to current select' button in the multipage tool is the same as the shortcut for the 'Resize page to selection' option in the Edit menu, so I expect the button uses a slightly different algorythm to the shortcut.

      I'd just like to say thanks Martin, for all the hard work you and the other members of the development team have put in over the years, Inkscape just seems to go from strength to strength.

    Could you do a tutorial about adding college ruled lines to pages?

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  9 місяців тому +1

      I'll see what I can do in the future. If you draw the number of lines you want and use Align and Distribute to distribute them evenly, you should be able to create the design you want. you could then group it and create tiled clones to place the design on multiple pages, as I used tiled clones to create the guides in this video:

      let me know if you get stuck and I'll see if I can help.

    Hi, thanks for this useful video! I have 1 issue. When I try to print the multipage document, only page 1 is printed everytime, even if I select 'all pages' or any particular page (other than page 1)

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  2 роки тому +1

      That's probably to do with how the multi page feature was created. If you save your document as a multi page pdf, then open the pdf in a viewer, you should be able to print it all from there. I expect there will be more print options in the future but hopefully this will help in the meantime.
      Sorry for the slow response, I missed your comment

    How do I get the tool bar with document properties to show?

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  21 день тому

      It's down the right-hand side by default, to move it to the top, go to View and uncheck the Wide Screen option at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
      This video shows you how to set up your workspace to best suit you:

    Thank you very much for this very well done introduction video.
    I have question: How can I copy a page I made (that I want to use as a template) that has several items on it that will be repeated on the following pages (for example the page number in the lower corner or the title or other shapes at certain spots). I couldn't figure this out. I have made a page and now I would like to add several pages that are exactly like that one, so I don't have to repeat the work every time. Or do I have to duplicate and drag my design to the next page every time?

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  Рік тому

      If you page designs don't have different size margins then create you design on the first page then add the number of pages you want using the 'Create a new page' button (this will space the pages with even gaps). Switch back to the rectangle tool and with snapping turned on for cusp nodes and pages, drag out a rectangle over the first page and the gap to the next page -snapping to the top left corner of the first page and the bottom left corner of the second page. Turn off the fill and stroke colours, then with the selection tool drag a box over the whole of you design and the invisible rectangle and group them together. With the group still selected you can go to Edit - Clones - Create Tiled Clones. Use P1 in symmetry and 1 row X (Number of pages) columns and press create. You should now have the same design on each page. You can then go to Edit - Clones - Unlink Clone to seperate them.

    Is there any way to create hyperlinks between the different pages? For example, the page numbers from a contents page.
    Thanks.

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  Рік тому

      Sorry for the slow response, I was hoping to find away to link between pages, but I haven't found any documentation on it. You can create hyperlinks by right clicking on an object and entering a web address(URL) in the 'href' box, but I don't know how to create an anchor on another page. There must be a way to do it, you could try asking on the inkscape forum, if you do find a way please let me know as it would be a handy tip to pass on. Sorry I couldn't be more help

    Hi, very useful tutorial.
    Can we import a multi page Pdf document and edit it?
    Thanks

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  2 роки тому +1

      Yep, you can go to 'File - Open' and select the pdf you want to open - make sure you select 'All Files' in the 'Files of type:' menu in the dialog box, so you can find the file you are looking for.

    If I created a large image on one page that exceed the page size of A4 for printing, how can I print the image across multiple A4-sized pages without losing the picture? Currently, I have the image stretched across 3 A-4 sized pages, but some details and line work are lost by the small gaps between the aligned pages.

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  6 місяців тому

      One way you can make sure that you don't loose any of the image is to over lap the pages. That way when you print, the edges of your image will be duplicated on both pages, you can then line them up and slice the pages to get a perfect joint.

    What about duplicating pages with content??

    • @CreateForFree
      @CreateForFree  11 місяців тому

      I haven't checked out 1.3 yet so don't know if something has been added, but I think you can only duplicate the content once you have created the pages.
      You might find this video helpful, I use tiled clones to make guides but you can use the same method to create page content duplicates.
