@@LogosByNick You are saying that if I want to make a design in abobe software. You have to use 2 or 3 free software to get same result? Kindly sure me that
Shows the flexibility in use for an amazing piece of Open Source Software, as stated, without having to learn something new for at least basic PDF documents. Love it!
I've used Inkscape to create PDF files (products sheets/datasheets etc.) and in your usual style you've pointed out a few functions I wasn't familiar and which will help with that process, thank you.
I've actually used Inkscape to create a couple of pages for teaching material that I was thinking about making. It definitely did the job. I also use GIMP on a regular basis to make documents. I've gotten so used to it that I can't see myself using other tools.
Which do you find easier to work with to create a poster or document, GIMP vs Inkscape? I thought GIMP would be better, particularly if you need to include photos, but would like hear your experience
@@shreepads Yeah, that's what I would say too. GIMP is great for manipulating images like photos so if you have specific images that you want to include then I might recommend GIMP but if you want to create new designs then I might suggest Inkscape. They're both great though.
No gonna lie, personaly this channel is one of the best three on my youtube list. I just start with inkscape yesterday, and i found this channel while i was searching for tutorials. Im so hyped cause your teaching is understandable even for a total beginner like me, and i hope your tutorials will help me start doing some really cool stuff. Keep making those great movies! Greetings
Because Inkscape is so powerful, I use it for virtually all my documents. I use a batch file or Reaconverter to convert multiple files to pdfs, then I use Nitro pro to join the pdfs to form a multi page pdf file. I look forward to Inkscape adding multi pdf page export!
I believe here is the best channel to learn Inkscape. Also, this tutorial feels so under-rated. Thank you very much, Nick ... for this wonderful tutorial.
Thanks for another great tutorial. Another pro for using Inkscape and SVG files is mail merge operations. By having plain-text XML files, it allows folks to replace names, addresses, and other details for mail-merge type operations. We can layout once in Inkscape, and run a script over a data set to fill in the blanks.
Great content, as usual! To snap a text box corners, or any "box corners", you can turn on "Snapping to bounding box" + "Bounding box corners" and that should do the trick. It can be an inconvenience at times, so toggle as needed.
We made our save-the-dates and the wedding invitations in inkscape. I mean, how else would you do it?! I guess I could've done them in LaTeX, but I didn't want to teach LaTeX to my partner.
Thank you so much! 👏👍 I was looking for this exact information, including how to make a margin around the page. I'm also making multi-page projects and this information is exactly what I needed. I know the newest Inkscape version allows you to make multi-page projects, but I haven't downloaded it yet. Thank you so very much for this video!!
Amazing tutorial as always! Thank you so much! Pandemic forced me to change my plans in 2020! But next year I'm going to buy your courses, for sure! Happy new year to you and all your loved ones!
Lord Nick, you are awesome in all your great videos. I started to using Inkscape thanks to you. You combine all the in the same place, graphic design, trics, tips and much more with a lot of profesionalism and good attitude. I really appreciate, if is possible, to learn how to align double sided business cards for printing with inkscape, please... Congratulations again and Happy New Year!!
Dear Nick, thanks a lot for all the useful techniques, tips and tricks on Inkscape you have posted over the years! If I could ask for a christmas wish, it would be to learn using Inkscape for technical illustrations (like adding parts or annotations in 3D-CAD drawings). Again, thanks for your great videos and merry christmas from Austria!
great nick, i always learning from your channel, may i recreate tutorial like yours in my language? cause still not much people who use inkscape in my country, please respons me
Your videos are exceptional. You never fail to explain precisely what you are doing at each step. Thank you. For making longer documents is there a free and open-source program that you would recommend ? If not, then which proprietary software would you recommend ? Thx.
Great tutorial, I hope Inkscape will someday allow for multi-page pdfs because it's a great tool. + Just wanted to share some of my experience. In my work, I found out that sometimes Inkscape is incapable of saving filters like a drop shadow to pdf. One solution I found was to export all non-text elements as a png file with high dpi, load it into Inkscape, add text on top, and then save it as pdf.
Hi Nick .nice video...have you included..i am interested in your masterclass course..just want to enquire .. have you included 1. how to write equations 2 . Is it possible to do plots in inkscape?
Great tutorial and many thanks.I think this technique could be used for designing planner and agendas in just several pages, and would be cheaper than using commercial design software such as Illustrator or CorelDRAW.Keep up posting tutorials!
I have created a 60 Pages HPE Product Magazine and it was printed perfectly. The only problem I had was saving all pages separately as PDF then merging them.
Nick, when I use Inkscape, the submenus have another behavior than yours, for example. If I open aling and distribution and then stroke and fill, the first. Menú (align and distribution in this case) it minimize and eeeach time I need to go to lower part to re open and then the stroke menu minize etc etc. I can not have the different menus open at the same time, this is a preference to change? Thanks. This holy days I should be re taking your courses 😀
Really helpful tutorials. How can we make the edges of an image feathered from left/right side only? Soft edges so that it can blend into some solid colour? Please guide.
Kind of off topic - but how can I set up my software panels to look like the way you have yours set up - it would be a lot easier to follow your awesome tutorials if I could set up my desktop to look like yours

cant you do some scribus tutorials? i have set up a magazine article layout with scribus and i was crying, i took so long und in the end it still had text lines not properly aligned on the same height and so on. terrible!! maybe you can help?
As much as I love Inkscape, I'm trying to learn Illustrator now so was wondering if it's easier to make this kind of documents in Illustrator because it has more features when saving documents.
I have limited experience on both software, but I'd say that neither is the proper tool for the job. For arranging documents with complex layouts such as posters, nice PDFs or ebooks, I believe a "desktop publishing" program is the type of tool made just for that, e.g. Adobe InDesign or Affinity Publisher. However, if the project is small, Inkscape seems fine and I'm sure Illustrator will also do the job
It is impossible to compare the capabilities of both programs when it comes to text handling. In Illustrator, you have full control over the appearance and flow of text. You can't even hyphenate words in Inkscape.
Great teacher!🏅

Bro... When i type text in GIMP and make it some bigger. The text edges are blur... Why😪
Gimp uses rasterized images so change in size changes the shape but with Inkspace it uses vectors which adjust to change in size
