That's what I got out of it. I go through depression alot and it's so hard to get out of it even when you're trying it still manages to try to pull you back in. So I can understand the struggle he's going through. I'm glad he isn't letting it stop him anymore. That's all you can do is take it one step at a time and he's doing good so far!😊

I'm so happy this gentleman agreed to be her client * on video *. He's a great role model for other boys/men who struggle with mental /physical issues. This world has a pervert way of defining masculinity * in part * as not needing nor reaching out for help.

Using your videos as inspiration today, as I slowly detangle my hair after almost two months of matting. Nursed my Aunt through a surgery since last December, lost her to C19 on 8/25. Trying to focus on self care today. Want to get it together before her memorial on Wednesday. Thank you for showing compassion and for listening to him. That's the real detangling.

Got COVID-19 and was bedridden for two weeks. I wasn't strong enough to comb my hair and it's amazing how fast 4C hair will become matted. When I felt better, I patiently washed and detangled it but I thought of you and your clients.
I am home with covid. Week 4. The first 2 weeks I could barely move and my hair got so matted! I was so grateful I've watched these videos cuz it helped me when I could finally comb out my hair. Luckily mine was only matted in the back and I only have wavy hair but it's super thick. I'm so sorry you had to go thru that! It must have taken you forever. I hope you're feeling better 💓

Same here, thank God I’m better now. My hair was matted with old products in it still, but I managed to wash it and detangle it. I hoping to do my first big chop!
While got covid I had my hair cut/ brown out the day before I started showing symptoms. Of course I was worried about my stylist but she never got it we both had on masks.
Anyway I felt like crap for 8 days but my hair was smooth...
Not COVID related, but when I unexpectedly had to give birth via c section, I was already on week 2 of not washing my hair. Then after I didn’t have the energy for about a month to even touch my hair and it was so matted and dry. Luckily I finally confided in my sister and she came to my hairs rescue.
I’m so proud of him for taking this step! I remember when I finally went to a dental hygienist after I stopped brushing my teeth for like a year. (I was just that dead inside.) but my teeth are good and so is my brain now!!
Hooray! So glad to hear! I've had mental health struggles, too. And I'm happy to say my brain is finally better now, too :D

I have absolutely been there, and I understand. More than once too, unfortunately. In fact, I’m currently watching these videos trying to build up the courage to start detangling my hair. I’m embarrassed to say how long it has been. I just finished my last final exam, and I finally have the strength as well as the time to do it!

Thanks for admitting this. This is precisely what I’m going through currently. I’ve made some advancements, but before I did, I went 15 months without a shower or bath and didn’t brush my teeth for like 2 months. I stopped caring about my teeth because over a one year period, I went from having one tooth break off at the gum to only having 4 teeth in total that were even viable. I don’t have ANY teeth now and can’t afford to get everything pulled (roots), along with dentures…so I just stay depressed because it feels hopeless…kind of like a “what’s the point?” feeling.
Anyway, I’m back to bathing and brushing pretty regularly again, but def have a ways to go and demons to fight.

I don't know how this video escaped me, but I missed it. I'm so glad you do this. I was in this situation myself once, so I understand. I was in the hospital, and I had my 4th back surgery and was being treated for repeated infections in my spine and blood. How was I supposed to worry about having when I was worried about if I'd wake up the next morning? So for 4 months, my hair was in two loose braids. My mom (I just love her😍😍😍) came and did 6 hours of detangling for me. I offered to help, but she insisted. She took a whole Saturday and treated me to a spa day. Hair, nails, makeup...THE WORKS!!! I had to take breaks because I was so weak but she was there from 8 am to 10 pm just pampering me. I will never forget that, because the love and words of affirmation spoken over me that day are still hidden in my heart and I will call upon them in my times of struggle. She literally has a healing touch and has been told that by so many people in her 66 years.
That day, my health started to get better. Little by little, I was doing better. Today I'm disabled from the 5 total surgeries on my back, but my overall health is great! I wasn't supposed to see 33 according to my doctors, and I was less than 2 months from turning 33 when they said it. But I'll be 43 in a few months! God's just good like that! Ironically she put my hair in the same straight back cornrows and I left them in for about a month. I will say my hair grew amazingly while I was hospitalized those 5 years. I didn't mess with it often and kept it in a satin scarf 99% of the time unless it was for a test or shower.

This is why I eventually got locs. My hair is just as thick as his and I have a very sensitive scalp. I couldn’t manage it and it would get tangled and matted. Ty for saving his hair. Getting your hair done does wonders for mental health.
@C Luv same. My hair is also really thick and I have a sensitive scalp and I want to lock it. But I might also change my mind if I see cute looking style. And if I lock now I’m gonna go through the awkward stage cause of shrinkage 😩

My hair looked like this for 11 months before I finally washed it. When I see videos like these my heart goes out to these people because you never know what they are going through or feeling that they couldn't get to a hair salon or do their hair themselves. Sometimes the basic everyday self care things are hard to do and hard to keep up with. End result is amazing, great job!!!!!!!

I am a white person with very thick curly hair and lived with my dad and never knew how to deal with my hair so id straighten it, or just let it get bad but after all those years I went through finding my own ways. I have healthy, short but pretty curly hair. It's never easy to go through hell. And I sure went through it. Thats why if you haven't been through it, you have no right to speak. Even if you have like come ON. Life is just a bittersweet process and I am so proud of people who go through life like a champ. Can I be honest, looking after type 4 hair texture can be hard. I have become natural in the past two years. Like this chap my hair is thick. You see other people bwith amazing hair in these UA-cam streets and I am dreading wash day hence why I only do this once a month. I'm really happy for him. Imo, men get it even worse then women regarding depression and mental health; they're told to suck it up and deal. It's just so cruel we tell boys, young men, fully-grown men they cannot be in pain or else they're "weak". Men deserve to have a support system too and their pain taken seriously, just like with women.

Never judge because you never know what someone is going through. I've been in this situation because of depression. People judge you because they say your just lazy, when depression sometimes causes you to not even want to get up to start your day. Sometimes all you want when you are depressed is for the pain to stop. So instead of judging, help or support the people who need it.
