@@fabiandaja6137 We all improve at different rates. Some of us never improve. Some of us spend 30+ years noodling the same old licks while others spend years studying music religiously. What applies to me does not apply to you. If you can play what this young man is playing in this video, you should be putting up videos because people will want to see it. People love to watch talented people do what they are good at. For your information, I started playing guitar at age 7 and I am turning 42 in November. You do the math! ✌️I don’t need to diminish anyone else to extend a compliment to the author of this video. It takes serious skill to arrange a multi-instrument song into something that can be played by one person on a guitar, abs then to execute that arrangement… this is seriously impressive stuff, regardless of how young he is.
Excuse me a minute, … had to close my jaw, it's been hanging open for 4 minutes. The most I could do with that guitar might be to hang it on a wall as an interesting décor. You, on the other hand, make it come alive, make it do what it's made to do. I am 72 years old, but I would be honored just to carry your guitar case. You are an amazingly gifted young man. Whatever your goals are in life, don't let anyone stand in your way. You are a blessing. Be safe, young man.
It's not as hard as it looks. Check out Don Ross and other proponents of piano style fingerstyle guitar playing. I'm 72 as well, but I started at 13 and along the way discovered Michael Hedges.
It's called determination, dedication, focus and personal sacrifice. With those, you will conquer anything. Many hours, days and years of hard work and practice gets results. The majority of the world has varying degrees of ADD so we have no way of achieving this level of playing. To say this young man is gifted it's insulting to his dedication to learning the instrument. Gifted is something you get for little to no effort. I'm not seeing that here, just saying.
There are lots of great solo fingerstylists all over UA-cam. LOTS of them. This young man will exceed them all if he doesn't already. The difference is not just technical ability. It's MUSIC. Many of the other great players can come up with technically great arrangements, but only a select few create music that I want to hear again, as opposed to just technically proficient chops I can appreciate as a fellow guitarist. Kent, thank you for the music. Keep playing man, keep growing.
Looks like a 13-year-old, but sounds like a +700-year-old zen master who's been playing ever since he got his first Lute back in the 13th century. Quite the legend, really.
If he's 701 how the fuck he gonna get a lute in the 13th century? Assuming he needs to be atleast 3 years old to get a lute he'd be at the very least 724 years old.
Pretty ironic as the meaning behind the song is about over ambition and destroying the world in attempt to be a world leader. Fits right in with the state of the world right now then🤣
I've convinced myself that Kent is the main character of an epic anime. He has a hidden sensei, a teacher that had a dream to combine the best finger style techniques and play them simultaneously, creating the ultimate guitar finger style ever to be seen in the world. But to learn the technique would require to completely unlearn the guitar, from the feel of the chords and scales to the flow of the strums and riffs. The teacher searched high and low, and found no one worthy or capable of inheriting this new style. He had almost given up hope, and resigned that the style would only be in his dreams and never see the light of day, until one day he took a young child under his wing - Kent Nishimura. This child was a rare talent. He could feel the rhythm. He could make the guitar sing. He could resonate completely, from soul to soul, to be truly one with the song. From an early age, he had mastered all the techniques of finger style, from intricate chucks and slaps, to precise pull offs and delicate tap harmonics. Then one day, the teacher gave him his last assignment, that if he could play it, he could officially surpass his sensei and become master. 4 pieces of music were in front of him, 4 different scores. "Play these all at once, using everything that you have learned" the teacher commanded. And then he was gone. The difficulty! Just playing the first phrase, with the base and the voice together, was like nothing Kent had ever done before. He couldn't do it. He wanted to give up! But, that first phrase, when he played it, the music... it truly came alive. It filled the room and was like nothing he ever felt before. Kent was moved by the music. He determined to go on, not for his own sake, but for the music's sake. He persevered, completing phrase after phrase, until one day, his teacher returned. "Play this music for me." And Kent played, and the music came alive. The notes danced off the sheets, and for one minute, the whole world was lost in the sound of it. A new style, the pinnacle of finger guitar, had been born. A tear rolled down the teacher's cheek. His dream was complete.
That is amazing, this young man has just “nailed” one of the most difficult guitar solos of all time. He played the whole song without missing a beat. wow!
It is a beautiful arrangement and incredibly done. It is possible to find a solo piano arrangement and reverse engineer it to your instrument. I used to do it with many different types of genres on bass.
“I should win 32.6% of the prizes, plus the car. They set up the rules, and I realized I have certain materialistic needs.” Yep, Real Genius somehow took hold as one of the more memorable movies of the 80s... “Relax, it’s just yogurt...”
@Pooh Matsuoka I absolutely cannot understand how this guy has not already exploded, at least on UA-cam. I suppose it's just a matter of time. Both the musical quality and technicality of his arrangements are a step above all but a few.

The arrangement of this song is maybe the most impressive part, and that’s saying a ton
Its by Andy McKee not this kid.
Watching him play the bass lines, keep the rhythm and play the other lines... I'm not worthy. This is my favorite video of 2020 so far
Alternate tunings on guitar allows for so many unique options on songs we believed could only be played one way.
Good job with this one.
How is it possible that I've never heard Kent before now! I have been living under a rock!! Mind blowing talent!
And all his covers are at this level.
Coming from someone who has been playing guitar over 30 years, this is mind blowing. You just played 8 different instrument and vocal parts on one guitar, at once. Wow.
Yea I feel ya. Just when I think I'm starting to get pretty good I find a kid like this on UA-cam to beat me back down to reality. I'm truly just a happy hack :)
I do not belive that you have been playing guitar for 30 years.I just dont.
Im 16 and have 4 years playing 😒 (i havent played that much like once a week for fun )
And with just these 4 years i can play this song exactly like him.It would take me max 10days
And you who have been playing for 30 years call this mind blowing?!😑
You’re eaither uteraly garbage at guitar which i dont think any human can be this bad or youre lying to compliment the boy.
Dude ive seen that same sentence so many times by now.Its in every comment section featuring music. Its becoming annoying,30 years is so exaggerated.
@@fabiandaja6137 How about you post a video to show us?
@@fabiandaja6137 you are full of it you troll!
Best comment here! Well said!
It's not as hard as it looks. Check out Don Ross and other proponents of piano style fingerstyle guitar playing. I'm 72 as well, but I started at 13 and along the way discovered Michael Hedges.
@@888kaddy It's more than technical and technique - there's an undeniable level of artistry and soul which can't be taught
hahaha lock jaw
It's called determination, dedication, focus and personal sacrifice. With those, you will conquer anything. Many hours, days and years of hard work and practice gets results. The majority of the world has varying degrees of ADD so we have no way of achieving this level of playing. To say this young man is gifted it's insulting to his dedication to learning the instrument. Gifted is something you get for little to no effort. I'm not seeing that here, just saying.
Here from tiktok, i just had to hear the fill version. Awesome!
80’s magic captured perfectly creating a warm homely feel inside
What really hurts is that he didn't even pretend it's difficult to play!
Guitar face free zone 👌
talented peoples flowstate will always chock others, even make them jelous ew
@I Em Hoo I Iz Do you mean, not difficult for him or not difficult at all.
😂😂🤣😎
@I Em Hoo I Iz 😂😂🤣🤣🤣 That wasn't even a good save!! 🤣🤣😂😂😭😭😭
Agree I love watching the other guitarists, but I come back to Kent’s videos almost every day just to listen to music. So groovy love it.
“As a fellow guitarist.” LMAO
Exactly!
@@maxstone9780 whats wrong with that? Lol don't hate bro, appreciate 😌

Madoka 本当に仰るとおりです。私も彼のすばらしい音なしには落ち着かないほどになりました。まるで彼はギターが最高に唄うボイシングの奥義を体得しているかのようです。
Looks like a 13-year-old, but sounds like a +700-year-old zen master who's been playing ever since he got his first Lute back in the 13th century. Quite the legend, really.
Well said lol
He's 16
@@babylon_nokia wow
If he's 701 how the fuck he gonna get a lute in the 13th century? Assuming he needs to be atleast 3 years old to get a lute he'd be at the very least 724 years old.

It's definitely relaxing. I'd buy the download.
Pretty ironic as the meaning behind the song is about over ambition and destroying the world in attempt to be a world leader. Fits right in with the state of the world right now then🤣
@@LocalLannister It's really a timeless and timely song isn't it? It's actually pretty pessimistic.
Kabob Hope yeah bro I agree but in the best way possible
"Play this music for me."
And Kent played, and the music came alive. The notes danced off the sheets, and for one minute, the whole world was lost in the sound of it. A new style, the pinnacle of finger guitar, had been born.
A tear rolled down the teacher's cheek. His dream was complete.
Ahaha you went overboard with that 🤣. Like he's the Ichigo of guitar.
Man , I read it like a manga , epic
Oh my God cringe
And you Spencer, seem to have quite the gift of story telling. 🤣 Nice...
One Guitar Man!
Funny how certain songs can bring back vivid memories of one’s childhood.
Man I’ve been going through the same things. As I’ve grown older, I’ve only gotten more emotional
This usually makes me think of Dennis Miller's show on HBO from back when I was a kid.
The independence of Kent's right thumb blows my mind.
That is amazing, this young man has just “nailed” one of the most difficult guitar solos of all time. He played the whole song without missing a beat. wow!
The guy is amazing BUT this piece has nothing to do with a "solo". He wasn't playing any solo. He was playing a full composition.
@@mrfester42 He played *solo* within a *solo* .
He had to create this, There was no sheet music for something like this. Mad respect for the talent this young man has shown

It is a beautiful arrangement and incredibly done.
It is possible to find a solo piano arrangement and reverse engineer it to your instrument. I used to do it with many different types of genres on bass.
He does all his own arrangements......part of his genius
Any other 80's kids here like me who think of the ending of Real Genius every time they hear this song? (Great job on this btw Kent!)

It used to take a multi-member band to play this song. No it only takes one Kent.

@Pooh Matsuoka I absolutely cannot understand how this guy has not already exploded, at least on UA-cam. I suppose it's just a matter of time. Both the musical quality and technicality of his arrangements are a step above all but a few.

I just don’t understand why anyone would put a thumbs down to something this good! If you truly like the original version of this song, how the hell could you not like this???? He hits EVERY note and still keeps the rhythm with ease!!!! Amazing job Kent!!!!! I love your music!!!
Absolutely right , I listen to this often and it’s like the best guitar piece I’ve ever heard . I just can’t see anyone topping this perfection
it's just a schtick. There is a lot of skill involved...but it annoys the crap out of guitar plyers. Everybody knew some guy in college who did this stuff. Then the rest of us would jam tf out while he went to the quad to play for girls. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!!! To each his Dulcinea.)
Why would anyone for any reason dislike this performance?
