- Erik Davis’ first book, the celebrated "Techgnosis: Myth, Magic, and Mysticism in the Age of Information," was published almost twenty-five years ago. Still in print, this cult classic of media studies continues to inform conversations about technology, consciousness, and new digital expressions of religion and esotericism. In this Gnoseologies event, speakers discussed Davis’ intellectual trajectory, the relevant lessons of 1990s "cyberdelia," and how techgnostic themes continue to inform our era of AI, post-truth polarization, the simulation hypothesis, and the explosion of digital occultism, from Insta-witches to TikTok “reality shifters."

In my last conversation with Terence McKenna, we talked about the book that I was writing at the time. After we talked for a bit, he suggested that I read Eric Davis' Techgnosis before I went any farther with my work. Terence thought that book was the best he had ever read about the development of technology.

My amazing Professor recommended this book.. Never thought I would like English until I walked into his class, so had to order it. Wanting to learn more before it comes. 🎉

Biohackers/Cyber Punks is a great example of the beginning of the bio digital “revolution”(convergence) via social engineering of demographics .
“Rebels”are mostly curated,not an organic byproduct of societal change because Sub and mainstream cultures are just another facet of polarities used by Machiavellian think tanks imo. Lol
