A fan of everything if i got that i wouldnt be able to sleep in like 4 months
Well i wouldn't try that glitch if i was using a "Already used" console

5:43 is my fav for some reasons
Those last few glitches were a little freaky, and could have given me motion sickness. Great job as always, Orkal.
Wow. The curse of the egg golem is a pretty darn epic glitch.
I actually remember suffering from take 4 WAAAY back. The odd part is that after the sega screen, The S&K title screen appeared. I had a mini freakout. Like that time I spawned a lot of S boxes on LBZ, then ran uphill, and BAM SEE-GA!
You know what I wish I could watch? The people who programmed this game reacting to this series of videos.
I wonder if they have any clue about even half of this stuff.
I wish I could talk to the people behind this game. I'd ask them what they have done, how did it evolve, what are things that were cut or changed a lot...
KhazWolf They probably have. Test teams report these types of glitches to developers, but since devolopers are usually on a strict a deadline, only gamebreaking ones are fixed. Glitches flagged as low importance usually make into final game and it is hoped that these glitches wont be noticed by the regular players on regular play throughs. Also even fixing some glitches also can lead to other glitches.
VideoTape Sonic 2 has great betas shows that how levels and game mechanics changed over time. I wish we had similar betas for sonic 3 too.
The egg golem scenes should be made as a movie, I could enjoy watching it.
5:30 "Bossmusic.mid"? You mean this game uses MIDI files? Where can I get them!?
+JesseRoxII It doesn't really, sorry.
+JesseRoxII
No, it's just a way to add humor to the glitch names.
Actually the 1997 PC port does use MIDI format, search for Sonic and Knuckles Collection music playlist by Superchaoscontrol to here the best form of it since it sounds differently on many computers
+Sonikku A Oh yeah, I forgot about that. But still that's not the version in this video.
+flarn2006 It's still. nice
Who turned off the lights, you say? Probably whoever's been turning them off the whole act.
+flarn2006 It was Hyudoro-san in the control room, he wants to poke you in the bum with his horns.
I think take 8 might be using data for the 2-player competition mode or something.
Though, isn't there a divider between the two screens? Shouldn't there be a section near the middle that stops rendering completely?
@@SgvSth Maybe...
I was trying out Curse of the Egg Golum and discovered a Take 9! When I got to Robotnik his armor wasn't there and he was totally exposed, and after he took one step forward he stoped moving for the rest of the boss fight! But it didn't stop there! After I beat him and went into the area with the capsule, the background started rising like in Sand in Hard to Reach Places, and at one point it took a platform with it and I almost got crushed! There's more...
Looks like we need more scenes regarding the egg golem and make it as a movie.
i think take 4 was the best one. it looks exactly like a cartridge tilt. i also think take 4 is the #2 glitchiest glitch i the game next to the mega glitch.
What’s the mega glitch?
@@laithakkad2221 holy crap this comment is old lol... the mega glitch is in a different episode -> ua-cam.com/video/m1atT6qrRLY/v-deo.htmlm25s
Glitches that cause the game to spontainously reset never fail to make me smile and the egg golem glitches are the funniest of them all.
No matter how old this video is, it's still funny indeed.
That's a good ghost skip method. As long as tails isn't with you
6:31 - I would expect that behavior when messing with debug mode. Getting it without having debug mode is quite unusual.
"oh good, the game's vomiting again"
best definition ever
When playing as super tails one of the flickies broke open the raising sand as I was flying and it glitches out. The sand was "rising" above me but I was playing as normal.. Just couldn't see where I was going because of the sand. By the time I got to where the sand normally stops rising, I was stuck under that as if it were a platform. I had to either let time run out of let the ghosts kill me. It was pretty stupid. Could you get this one on video +ORKAL ?
So what happens when the screen is black and you finish the act, does the game stay that way, or is it fixed by the title card/level transition?
After the pillar fails to crush Sonic, I like how Tails throws a pleading glance at the player from the other side of the door.
Curse of the Egg Golem is one of the the greatest things I've ever seen ever. When I can see it.
Wow I did not know that Sandopolis had this many glitches although I did know about the boss music glitch that occurs when you reach the boss fight and start attacking it as quickly as possible
The fact that the last glitch works on real hardware is even scarier.
What little I know is, pretty much any time the game resets like that is because the 68000 encountered some illegal operation, typically, throws things to Sonic 3 & Knuckles' exception handler, which in almost all cases just soft-resets the game. My guess is that the screen wrap glitch causes some strange interaction with the game's camera-locking and pattern load queues to start shoving oodles and oodles of bad data into RAM until the 68000 just can't take it anymore and throws an exception. The split screen thing could be some of the 2P mode, except according to this post 2P mode requires that the VDP actually sleep for several scanlines to properly set up for the second player's rendering: s3unlocked.blogspot.com/2017/05/tearing-it-apart.html My guess is this is triggering some sort of plane-shifting logic used with the VDP that connects with the boss's "armor" somehow.
Yeah. If you implement a proper crash handler (I just copy/paste the one from Sonic 1 because I'm not a programmer) you can usually get the game to continue. It's a lot more fun than a boring reset.
Is it bad that I went out of my way to make a savestate for 'Curse of the Egg Golem', just so I could go back and do it when I get bored?
Aestroth Nope
I am so glad to have found this video again
So does anyone know why the game freaks out so badly if you do the screen-scroll/move right into the boss room thing? I'm quite intrigued by it.
***** I'm no computer technician, so I can only guess. But my guess would be that you're loading a large object, (That is, the boss) while the camera is moving really quickly, resulting in the game trying to load something that is moving at a very high speed and thus vomiting.
If anyone here with more knowledge of computers finds an error in here, please correct me.
***** Ah, I see.
Thanks.
5:31 404 boss theme not found. Why did misread it as could not find boss music midi ? lol
Honestly? Whatever the heck happened from 5:45 and definitely at 6:30 ... is probably the most random but funniest thing I have ever seen discovered in a video game. Well played. XD
Wow these are very entertaining to watch. Props on all your videos.
How old was your Genesis when it broke? Because my is fine, and every once in a while I pull carts out of it. I hardly ever do that though.
6:57 and then after that white noise, a lonesome well appears and a creepy girl with long, black hair crawls out of the well and towards you to devour your soul.
Take 7 is legit creepier than any of the numerous Sonic creepypastas I've seen.
Edit: I should probably mention that it reminds me of the 20th Century Fox logo at the start of Alien 3 where the music unexpectedly slows until it becomes an ominous drone
Take 7 is final-boss-of-Earthbound-worthy, and Take 8 is most likely caused by the 2-player split-screen mode. You somehow activated the split screen and the bottom half really liked the Egg Golem's belly.
Take 8: My guess is that the glitch somehow screws with the video RAM or the game's rendering routine and changes the values used for scrolling on a specific vertical part of the video RAM
I remember getting Take 7 the Egg Golem glitch but with a loud goddamn screeching noise with it. That ended my tampering with the ancients.
I remember cheesing this boss by picking Sonic up on the other side of the run with Tails and then ramming Sonic's feet into the eye and weak point. I did that once and the boss got stuck in the corner until i destroyed it.
Take 7 has got to be the coolest glitch I've seen in recent memory.
...the screen continued to scroll when I moved to the right, but remained locked on the left, meaning when I went further to the right into the alcove that opens up in the transition cutscene, the camera followed me and scrolled away from the capsule, but I couldn't go back to the capsule, making me incapable of finishing the act!
Take 7 would be a kickass boss concept for Needlemouse, methinks.
i love the little text boxes lmao. such a good laugh
7:03 if you look about 3/4 up and at the left side of the screen, you can clearly see in the glitchiness "olololol"... although it only shows up for one frame or so.
@darkangelsv1 That's what's called a panic reset. Basically, the game did something completely impossible (such as trying to divide by 0), so it, well, freaks out and just dumps everything.
The crash handler of this game is a reset.
Take 8: Possibly screen scroll routines left over from Sonic 2 split screen? There's a similar effect when you try to play Chemical Plant in 2-player mode.
Marble Garden Zone and Sandopolis are probably the glitchiest levels in the game
and IceCap
My favourite glitch against the Sandopolis Act 2 boss is to the use debug mode to get behind it and then wait for it to walk as far as it can... It will then begin to to backwards extremely fast to it's starting position!
the curse of the egg golem: sending you back to start one glitch at a time
Take 7 was one of the creepiest things I have ever seen, ever. Ever see the movie White Noise?
in take 8, the game probably thinks its in the 2player minigame thing... or 2 player scrolling mode, because its almost the same.
When I was younger, I always used to wonder if you could make it past the capsule without releasing the ghosts :D
I can't see annotations, were they removed or is this a UA-cam bug?
thevividyoshi Are you using mobile? Then it's that. If you're using a PC then it may be your browser. If not then bug. They aren't removed for me BTW.
AndrewAdvanced5000
I'm on PC, I just upgraded to Windows 10 and the annotations are back. Very wierd.
k
Haha, that last glitch.
Sonic: Uh, Tails? I think I ripped reality in half.
Tails: HOW DID YOU EVEN DO THAT
the egg golem is gold
@ORKAL When sonic falls forever, sonic gets to a certain speed where the speed resets and sonic moves up.
Take 4 reminds me of Giygas' death sequence.
It's cool to see that the ghosts can remain trapped in the capsule, too.
Also: CEGAAAAA!!!
at 1:52 is that capsule a fake one? asking because u didnt hit it
Once mortals enter the pyrmid, no one gets out, except sonic!
6:45 Cracking right up by 'Take 6'! XD
Oh god, Take 7 is creepy as all hell.
It's like the Silent Hill siren meets the TV from the Ring. >_>
Thats a great way to Reset the Game without having to get up. Just have to make it to Act 2!
6:55 😊
What is it exactly with some glitches that causes the game to reset?
It's the crash handler of this game, a simple reset.
It's funny when you performed the curse of egg golem 8 scenes lol
At first, I thought the reason why they hadn't had time to find all the bugs and glitches in this game was because they wrote it in assembly/machine code. But I've heard that they actually wrote the games in C or C+.
i had an occurance where the game acted like take 7 but then reset itself like take 4
If you use Debug Mode cheat and place a bunch of Hyper Sonic Monitors and i mean soo many until the graphics start disapearing do a spin dash and run over all of them the camera will move really fast and reset the game in 2 seconds.
what happend to the take 5
6:34
I don't know why that made me laugh so hard.
2:27
Yeah, I remember doing that glitch.
Except it was an accident and I was left confused and unhappy
Take 7 feels like something from a horror movie.
isnt there something like that in angel island like take 7?
haha final boss glitches are awesome :D thanks for the video!
Also, 6:57, maybe the animation bug Tails from Flying Battery really WAS the Tails Doll, and he's been following you... I have to wonder kind of effects (if any) you'd get here if you were playing the PC version.
7:09 Good idea for a boss fight game(insane but still good),but with no glitches like that
This level is hell
Take 4 and Take 7: I declare this game to be Pixel Diarrhea.
6:58 has similar screen glitching graphics to the blue knuckles debug glitch
Take 3 and 4 are hilarious Lol Hyper Sonic broke reality
6:56 oh good, the game's vomiting again.
1:17 Tails is like "wait wut how did u do that?"
Actually I think that may be conflicting code from the 2 player racing levels.
Take 4 glitched the shit out of the emulator. xD
How do you use tails?????
I think I know what's up with that last glitch. It must be emulating the Multiplayer Split screen effect.
At Take Seven Sonic & Tails are such a ninjas.
6:24 Sonic finally went too fast. He went faster than lightspeed and went back in time.
Lol that's confirmed as brutal sandopolis.
the reset is from the game they are called panic reset
It sucks that it broke, my Genesis1 is 18 years old and used and it still works fine. Remember kids, take care of your video game systems!
Egg Golem glitches are epic!
Oh and as a response to LOst on the Sonic Retro forums (danged test), I have, as seen in the above post. Now I don't have a genesis. Its motherboard was burninated. That's right. Effin' too much on S3&K can cause your mommaboard to get screwed.
I love Sandopolis zone. Everything about it. ESPECIALLY act II's music. omgf.
You cannot grasp the true form of Eggman's attack!
Damn UA-cam new design. Now all the annotations disappeared.
ORKAL PLEASE COME BACK AND FIX IT =,(
Now it's back, no worries
1:27 Sonic is defying physics, AGAIN!
1:28 Sonic defying gravity by walking on nothing
1:31 sonic being a ghost again SONIC STOP BEING A GHOST!!!!!
1:51 I got to agree with you sonic (ALTHOUGH YOU KEEP BEING A GHOST!!!!) that is something i got to try
1:59 WHY SONIC WHY TRAP YOUR GHOST FRIENDS!!!(after all you are a ghost)
2:15 What do you know his ghost friends have decided to pay him a visit
2:28 DAMN IT SONIC NOW YOU'RE A HYPER GHOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3:18 STOP BEING A GHOST well HYPER GHOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wait i know what'll fix it make the next important bits bold, GENIUS!
Well, I was practically born with it, and it screwed up when I was Seven. So yeah, seven years old.
Take 1: Ok...
Take 2: Too dark now, ghosts!
Take 3: Thanks SEGA
Take 4: ... O_O ... Giy- no not really.
Take 5: Reset munber 3
Take 6: Too LIGHT now?!?!
Take 7: Don't stare at the sun, this is what it is! Creepy.
Take 8: Bottom screen = epic PHAIL.
Someone should take 6:56 - 7:04 and edit an Earthbound text box over it while it loops continuously.
"Sonic...
Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic...
I... feel... e... g... g... y..."
Oh god the game screen going berserk is crazy.
Why would the VRAM be overwritten?
Take 8... Wait what the h*** happend to hyper sonics colors?
6:33, that startled the shit out of me! O.o
