    I like your dad a lot Tim, he's not rough on equipment AT ALL, he takes it nice and slow, he's a good operator.

    Good to hear that Derek is back. Glad to hear that your dad is out there with you guys as well. Hope your dad's health stays to the point where he is out there as long as you guys are.

    Nice to see young Derrick back, couldn't leave a comment on the video from your study but Dad is a marvellous guy, hops on anything and away he goes, doesn't say a great deal but the experience stacked away must be awesome. So if he was having problems with that service truck conditions must have been rough.

    Appreciate your videos and try not to worry too much about the folks who continually give you negative feed back. We appreciate all you and the team do and very interesting in watching how you do it.

    You wouldn't think you'd have to worry about freezing so much where your at but this year has been weird. Stay warm and safe.

      This winter has been very odd for us. We usually will have a few nights close to 10 degrees and warm up well above freezing but this winter it has been much colder a lot more days.

    That's pretty cool how you can turn around signal or you're going I've always wondered how the guys and have your guys have been able to think what you're picking up to open your grandpa to make sure you get a full gravel that's pretty awesome

    i have 28L's on my cable and you're right i pay no attention to little ol sticks in the skid road but boy if it gets real muddy or sandy that baby just digs down til it bottoms out, i had it up to the skid door when i was first learning and didn't know any better :D

    That's a nice skidder. I, Myself am a Tiger Cat fan. I personally think they are the best to go with, Skidder wise, and cutdown machine wise. That 635D is a beast, and so is that L830C. Don't get me wrong, I love my JD stuff now, but as far as talking about a skidder, and cut down machine. I personally think the Tiger Cat is the best to go with. Keep up the awesome footage Tim. Doing good buddy.

    Awesome vid sir!! 👍All this emission stuff is a blessing and a curse , it's helping to save the environment, but it is a painnnn in the arse to work on!! I used to be a diesel mechanic and it was right about the time that all the emission stuff was starting to be put on em! Nowadays you almost can't even work on em unless you got a tech puter! Haha, tech puter sounds like somethin Logger Wade'd

    Maybe bring the best of the JD skidders over to the logging site, the 748? and run it against the TC 630E to help you with your decision?

  • @derekschmucker1609

    I guess with the wide tires versus narrow it's all about finding the balance between the weight of the machine and the width of the tire.

    Is that tractor one of the earlier models? I know they changed some things on them that helped the longevity of the emissions components. Ours is one of the early E model tractors and we’ve had nothing but trouble for the last 6 months but we had the ECM reprogrammed and it hasn’t missed a beat since

    FPT is owned by Case New Holland now, used to be Iveco. Makes you wonder if Tigercat didn't like anything Cummins had to offer in the tier 4 market.

    The tires on the 630 look to have a decent amount of life left on them. Does the dealer offer some type of swap program where you can get the 35.5 tires at a cheaper rate and they'll sell the used tires off the 630 to someone. Or are you out the full price of 35.5s to upgrade. I know alot of times with a new pickup I wish I could just give the dealer back the tires that come factory on them for credit towards a set that are worth a crap. Thanks. Keep up the vids.

    • @cotontop3

    Is all the soil around y'all heavy clay? I've been down around meadsville and they had a lot of sand clay with Pee gravel in it on the roads there. Also what's the growth time on pines around you? I went to purvis a few years back and 7 year old trees looked like 15 year trees here. Most people here are shooting for a year 15 thinning and year 30-35 clear cut. East central nc

    • @cotontop3
      @cotontop3  6 років тому

      Our soil varies a lot and our clear cuts are in the mid 20 year old.

    Thanks for the ride-along, Tim. Is the 630 foreseeably easy to cash flow for TDK? It appears from my untrained eye to be doing a good job for you. I know next to nothing about the economics of logging other than in the general sense, and I'm not trying to pry my eyes into things that don't concern me, just for the record.

    Anyone ever able to clean up the scuffs and scratches in Lexan glass? Quick google search shows it may be possible but tricky and with the deep scratches from logging may be impossible. Seems like if someone could perfect the process they'd might have a good side-hussle in going around clearing up the glass on heavy equipment.

  • @ga_dipperjames4957
    @ga_dipperjames4957 6 років тому

    Hey question I love in ga and I run a 620 tiger cat I noticed y'all set the boom on the skidder all the way up, I think it pulls better when it is only half way

    • @cotontop3
      @cotontop3  6 років тому +1

      Think about it- the lower your boom more area of the stem of the tree is on the ground you gotta drag. The higher, the less of the tree is touching the ground and it also puts more weight on the machine. The best pulling power is all the way up and all the way forward because forward puts maximum weight on your front end.

    • @ga_dipperjames4957
      @ga_dipperjames4957 6 років тому

      True but while I'm driving it it stands up a lot when I let it up all the way so how would I prevent that?

    whats considered high hours on these machines ?? theres a 2011 630D for sale here but it has 17,000 hours, all synthetic oils and all original

    • @cotontop3
      @cotontop3  5 років тому

      It just depends on who the previous owner was and how good of care they took of the machine. I’ve seen them junk at 5k hours and still like new at 20k hours.
