Which configuration did you prefer? Apologies for the occasional chair noises-just a little Secretlabs charm 😖. EDIT: My initial wording was unclear. There are other closed-bottom HE switches, but I was specifically referring to those that are fully compatible with the Wooting keyboard, without causing issues or being difficult to purchase. For example, WS Jades and Black Jades are simply recolored Gateron Jades. Neo Lavenders haven't been tested and are only available with a QK65 PCB, making them an impractical choice. Geon RAW switches still haven't been confirmed to be working by Wooting, however Geon claims them to work with the 60he/80he, so these could actually be a viable option. Wooting has a tab in their Discord listing all viable switch options, and I highly recommend checking it out before making a purchase.

This video is an absolute godsent and treasure trove to help narrow down the components to go with. Ended up getting a Tofu Redux in the end. While I agree the stock plastic case does sound really nice, I couldn't resist the classy look and weight. Going to take some time to get it sound somewhat close to stock and hopefully as uniform as possible. Enough yapping, point is your video saved me so much time deciding.

Nope you’re absolutely right:) that’s why I’m hyped for the 80he i got the plastic case variant, because cheap/not so well engineered aluminum cases tend to be hollow and pingy
@@ernestogf7294 Hey! If you like a 'thocky' sound, I recommend choosing the plastic case, as it will always produce a deeper sound. Unfortunately, there's no sound test for the zinc alloy option yet, so I can't say for sure how it will sound. However, since the 80HE comes with foam and a polycarbonate plate by default, it should have a deeper sound regardless of the case material

Thanks for this. I got the TofuRedux with weight and some thicker keycaps and taped my PCB while using foam and I hate the sound. It seems the Wooting just won’t sound good lol.

@@Gates-Tech heyyy all the way at the end is a conclusion :) i personally think the pc plate from wooting with their silicone plate dampener is the best upgrade you can do. I personally like the configs with pc plate and the tofu or holy60 case.

Honestly the full stock keyboard with the tape mod sounds best to me. Other ones get too clicky imo I'm gonna do that thanks for the video. Would lubing the stock lekker switches make it a bit more thocky?
@@hone-pq7pp 100% agree. These alu cases produce a pretty hollow clacky sound, that’s why i‘m so hyped for their new 80he plastic with full silicone inlay:)! And yes lubing the stock switches will make them sound deeper, also wootings pc plate will help you getting that deeper sound profile. Keep in mind that i used the gateron jades in these soundtests which are long pole switches and therefore tend to sound clackier!
Instead of the standard case foam which is really dense and doesn’t improve the acoustics i’ve used some shelf liner from a brand called zip n fit ! :) you could also use polyfill or any softer case foam, there are many on aliexpress! I think kbdfabs also includes them with their cases!
@@jonjon2015 heeyy don’t be scared of it haha :) it’s like lego! You just put together piece by piece and if you just want to swap your wooting case for the holy case, you only need to take off some keycaps and loosen some screws:)
Hey, thank you for commenting :) both are very premium feeling but if weight is important i would 100% recommend going with the tofu redux + brass weight! The holy weighs around 200g, the tofu without brass weight 800g and with brass weight 1,1kg :) Also make sure to take a look at kbdfans newest case called "461E" it also weighs around 1,1kg, fits the wooting and has a very unique design!
@@johnathanchan6590 heyy i initially lubed the housing with 205g0 and the wires with xht bdz. For this video i relubed them with just a syringe and dielectric grease. The stock stabilizers are pretty solid, rattling goes away however getting rid of some of the ticking on the spacebar stab was difficult so i swapped it out :)
@@lizardvh i have the brass weight. I just used the outer screws (4 total). didn’t see a huge difference between that and oring/sandwich mount so i went without
@@Tapirrr new small diaphragm condenser mic is coming in. Sadly that’s how the rode mic sounds but i bet most people listen with their phone speakers or some average gaming headset’s so it’s enough to get a rough idea :)

Do you think there'd be some wiggle room in the holy60 for some acrylic plates, say 1-3mm or so (bottom, sides)?
I can measure the sides later if i don’t forget haha. But KBDfans already released a acrylic bottom for the holy :)
