      @@watchingnowhereyou are an idiot.
      1) Children are dying as slave laborers, mining the trace minerals for your EV batteries.
      2) The mineral processing plants and battery manufacturing plants have created polluted wastelands around their plants.
      3) EV s are less efficient that gasoline vehicles.
      4) After the EV's ridiculously short life, ot cannot reasonably be repaired. They cannot be recycled. There are currently EV graveyards with 1000s of EVs decomposing and further polluting the environment.

When an EV is not moving, it uses very little power. The motor isn't moving. There is no such thing as idling. AC will use power, but far less than when the car is moving. I suspect a reasonably 50% full EV battery can keep the AC on for a least a day, if the temperature is not set too low, because EVs are so much more efficient than gas cars.

You know, this is pretty grim. It's fortunate no one was hurt or killed by this fire. Lithium batts! Talk about a 'mixed blessing'. Those boys, while great and long lasting while operative, can be awfully, shall we say, prone to flammability...? Two stories come to mind, both of which you can search: the UPS flight in Europe carrying a cargo of Li batts went down after the load caught fire. And do you recall the horrible dive boat fire off CA coast some years back? In my view that was an Li fire. 35 folks on board, all of them plugging in their phones, comps, etc before they went to bed, on a 35 yr old cruiser. All it took was one spark and that boat went up like a bomb, no one below had a chance. Investigators claimed they couldn't determine the cause of the blaze. Hmmmm. Not that hard to figure out...unless you didn't want to determine it.
Anyway, I wouldn't take an EV vehicle if I was given one. Not even close to being worth the risk - not to mention the door locking issues - yikes!!!

My family and I were stuck out on I15 yesterday for 8 hours. The fact that there are no ways around that section of roadway is the cause of the problem. The state of California knows it and does nothing about it. CHP gave us no updates and we no way to know what was going on due to cell phone service being spotty. This whole debacle was a major failure of so many state agencies. Cal Trans for not building new roads/freeways around the area, CHP for being ass holes out there not helping anyone just yelling at us to get back in our cars, San Bernardino County for being slow to respond without having a clue what to do and this proven because the roadway is still shut down.

Just a side note , anecdote . When you hear the low unemployment numbers reported , observe this phenomenon - The sheer number of people on the roads , airports , lakes , rivers , oceans , sitting at home , etc is absolutely staggering . The amount of easy money that's been pumped into the system has allowed and enabled all of this leisure activity . Every road in the world is now filled with travelers , living the high life . Very few are actually going to work .

The solution to "what to do" with the truckload of damaged batteries is NOT to leave it beside the main road and destroy traffic for a week while you wait for the damaged batteries to either catch fire or cool off. They should have a wrecker or bulldozer pull the wreck 25 yards off into the desert , assign a CHP officer with a radio and a patrol car to watch it and open up the traffic. The priority used to be to keep the traffic rolling but the modern response is to order a truckload of red cones, yellow tape and electronic signs. What do you expect from a state that has outlawed gasoline burning cars in ten years? They are detached from reality.

And the governor of LA should encourage or suggest families w children to travel by plane??? And offer a discount? Families w children to travel certain days to avoid being stuck in the desert especially in the hot summer. The country and it's cities are over population and not enough roads / freeways. I am pretty sure Las Vegas would not mind for a limit on travelers / those who are moving in lol to have a limit. ??? Especially during these hot summers, winter can be harsh too.

You need to burn gasoline to keep your AC running in a gas car. So, you get to choose between shutting off your AC or running out of gas. Oh wait! My EV is so much more efficient than a gas car I can keep my AC running for two days before running out of power.

    • @smiddywesson2703

@@davidswan482 You'd best update your source of information. The hotter or colder it gets outside the sweet spot, the less efficient your batteries are, meaning you will be forced to shut down your heat or AC exactly when you need it most or face pulling over to the curb with no power. For example, at temperatures below 20℉ (-6.7℃), EVs can lose around 12% of their range, rising to 41% if heating is turned on inside the vehicle. The same goes for AC. EVs have significant limitations, however you choose to ignore them and make ridiculous claims. You do know we are laughing at you, right?
