You hit the jackpot on moon shells! That blue one is perfect! I would love to see a wind chime made out of those beautiful pastel colored European flat clam shells hung from driftwood. Total day..just WOW!!

Oh my goodness Freda - when I saw that moon there was just a piece sticking out of the sand, I thought for sure it was small or busted and when I pulled that our my eyes almost popped out of my head. Haha. Such a show stopper! lol
I just poured my coffee & sat down ... and discovered it's Wednesday. Yay! Coffee with Jaime! I loved your big blue moon - wow!! Did it retain its color? And those flat oysters are gorgeous, too - the hinged one was super interesting.
Haha - I love that we have a standing virtual coffee and shelling meeting every week! And the moon did stay blue! I kind of thought it would because it looked very old and the shell was super thick. It looks like it was buried for a while. I was shocked because we usually only find ones like that after storms. I was shocked (if you couldn't tell from my reaction) lol. Hey friend! Yes - I was all about those flat oysters! So many pure white ones! And that Mega moon was s show stopper for sure! Kim is the best sand dollar hunter I know. I haven't found hardly any at all since the beach closure, but she is always able to find one or 2 no matter what. Thanks for always adventuring with me my friend!

Hi Robin! Yes - great eye! We did find a few yellow periwinkles! The beach had a few here and there, but not as many as we found when we were in Maine. I was really into collecting those flat oysters! I have a bunch in my shell bag that I need to clean up and shine!

@@PlumIslandSeaCabin , RB Fossils is his initials i think n he has fossilized sea shells. He's an older man, been collecting sea shell fossils for many years. His video clips are not long ones. He shines or polishes them too.

Hi Chris! Yes - Niles Beach! It was a nice find! We were originally heading to Good Harbor Beach and when we pulled in, they were going to charge us $40 to go 😳😬 I asked the cop there if he knew if there were any shells on the beach and he said not really and recommended Niles beach - total score and free parking to boot! I've always wanted to find a flat scallop in Florida. Next time I go, I will be on the hunt! Thanks for always reaching out Chris! See you next week on the beach!

And while I didn't spend much time on the beach, my niece and friend found some augers, olives, and a few arcs. The water was very rough that week and it made it super difficult for me to shell during higher tides. Staying on the sand and not shelling was frustrating, so I opted to remain at the pool where our condo was. I'm hoping I'm back to better health and strength on my next beach visit.😎🏝

Hi Kim! Yes - Gloucester is so nice - Rockport too! They filmed "The Perfect Storm" in Gloucester. They also film Wicked Tuna there. It's a very cool place. Be sure to visit Niles Beach for the oyster shells when you are there! Looking forward to your visit!

Hi there! Yes - check it out. There were so many great finds! It was called Niles Beach. Be careful not to park in the resident parking - they will for sure ticket you :( Yes - there was a small live periwinkle near the moon when I first started digging it out. I had to relocate it - hahaha. I was thinking of making a trip to Skaket beach soon - Maybe Kalmus too. I have been dreaming about a nice whelk find!
Those MEGA blue moons are my favorite! That one looked like a storm shell that we missed! Glad it popped up and I was able to get it on camera to share with everyone!
What a beautiful moon shell, with the sun's rays shining upon it! All the colors just pop! Okay, my curiosity is getting the better of me. If you don't mind telling me, Jaime, what is written on the ring on your left forefinger? I wear one on my right forefinger, a floral spinner ring, so yours caught my attention.
Hey there! Yes! Inlove holding the moons up to the sun! So colorful. I like to see them glisten! Yes of course. My ring is a silver Tiffany ring from 1999. I bought it for my wife who never wore it so I reclaimed it 🤣 Mine now :) hahaha. Thanks for watching!
@@PlumIslandSeaCabin Yes, I've been to Gloucester many times. It's fun to drive, park and walk the causeway. And, it's on the way to Rockport! There is a great place for seafood in Essex (and NO not the one that everyone knows..). Go to Farnhams. You won't regret it. They only accept cash. :) Keep on Shelling!

I think I only have 1 or 2 on hand...that type of shell is very rare on Plum Island and I get them when I go to Gloucester Ma which I haven't been to in a couple months. Hi Angy in Austrailia! :) I did test a few like that...triple and quadruple coated them with a thick sealer and they didn't stay blue, but they stayed a very deep and vibrant orange with awesome black markings. They always seem to oxidize after a while. But...this moon stayed blue - it seems like the longer they are buried in the mud, and the older they are the more of a chance they have to remain blue. Hi Sarah! I use a spray on clear coat you can get at any hardware store. It's withbthe spray paint. Look for the clear cap. They have different finishes. I prefer gloss.

Those MEGA blue moons are my favorite! That one looked like a storm shell that we missed! Glad it popped up and I was able to get it on camera to share with everyone!

@@PlumIslandSeaCabin Yes, I've been to Gloucester many times. It's fun to drive, park and walk the causeway. And, it's on the way to Rockport! There is a great place for seafood in Essex (and NO not the one that everyone knows..). Go to Farnhams. You won't regret it. They only accept cash. :) Keep on Shelling!

I think I only have 1 or 2 on hand...that type of shell is very rare on Plum Island and I get them when I go to Gloucester Ma which I haven't been to in a couple months. Hi Angy in Austrailia! :) I did test a few like that...triple and quadruple coated them with a thick sealer and they didn't stay blue, but they stayed a very deep and vibrant orange with awesome black markings. They always seem to oxidize after a while. But...this moon stayed blue - it seems like the longer they are buried in the mud, and the older they are the more of a chance they have to remain blue. When you say "clear coat" what do you use to do that?
Hi Sarah! I use a spray on clear coat you can get at any hardware store. It's withbthe spray paint. Look for the clear cap. They have different finishes. I prefer gloss.

If they were buried in the mud for years they would probably be black of very dark gray. I have some fossilized ones that look like this. 😍🥰
