  • Enjoy an extended (longer than usual) episode of Plum Island Sea Cabin!
Today's the 1st fallen snow of the season and we are SUPER excited to hit the frozen beach! We braved the cold - there were so many AMAZING things to see, so we spent some extra time on the beach today!
Virtual Shelling In New England! Today's adventure is nothing short of AMAZING! Snow shelling is one of my most favorite things to do - so many shells because who's crazy enough to beach in the snow? lol. Along the way we collect some amazing Atlantic beach finds and embrace the nature and marine life on the Island. Coyote and deer and whelks - oh my!
    Todays hunt does not disappoint!
My collection of sea treasure has really grown over the last year so I thought I would share all of my finds with the world and those who love the sea as much as I do.
To purchase some of my finds, visit my shop:

Thank you for showing us what’s like to go shelling in the middle of a cold winter day and what you had found. I find it quite fascinating! I thought shelling at 3 a.m. is quite something, but for you to go shelling in the middle of a bitter cold, windy winter day, you deserve a medal for bravery! 😀

Hi Van! Thanks so much for watching. Yes, it was a tad bit chilly out there, but during or after a snowstorm is one of my most favorite times to shell. There is usually no competition so all the great finds are for me 😀 and also - the snow absorbs sound so it's always super quiet and peaceful. We are actually having a big storm today so stay tuned for more icy beach adventures! 🌊❤✌

It’s cool to see the sand dollars you have on your Atlantic coast line. I live in SC and we have keyhole sand dollars here. Seeing your sand dollars without holes in them are quite unique looking to me. And your HUGE moon snails are awesome.

Try surgical gloves to pick and when your hands get cold you can put your mittens on! I always search there for shark teeth, Haven't found one but I know someone who actually found quite a large one, most likely a great white seeing as though there had been quite a bit of predation of seals in the area that summer

      Hi Gayle! 👋
I have a collection that was really growing. I started only keeping the unique ones because my collection was getting pretty big. I also bring some back every now and again and
like Leaving them for hermit crabs and other marine life to use as protection. But the ones I do have, I display in my home so that I have a little bit of the sea inside. Others I sell in an Etsy shop I started last year...a lot of people enjoy adding them to their personal collections and people with pet hermit crabs need them as their crabs grow. Shops don't sell shells as large 😞 and the moon snail shells are perfect 😃 😍✌🌊
