The 2023 Nissan Altima SR Turbo Is A Sporty Family Sedan With A Bad Reputation
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 тра 2023
- The #NissanAltima has always been a solid Japanese alternative to the well-known Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Sadly for #Nissan, the #Altima has had its reputation faltered thanks to a certain Facebook group called #BigAltimaEnergy where it shows photos and videos of Altima drivers doing very naughty things on the roads. It’s a shame because the latest #AltimaSR with the turbo engine is actually a really good car for buyers looking for a sporty family sedan with tons of power.

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you are having a great start to your holiday weekend! Even though the Altima gets so much hate for its reputation, it is still a great driving and very appealing midsize family sedan. Would BAE stop you from buying one of these?
No… for years it has been the CVT. Give it a proper slush box and we can talk!
I thought the sr VC turbo has different multi spoke rims? On the Nissan website the rims aren’t like how they are on this test car..
@@BigNorm4Life im pretty sure Nissan throws the cvt in the altima for a reason. CAFE standards. Look it up.
This might be a stupid question but what is the bad reputation for in the title of the video
@@michaelbanko9965 Altima drivers being the most stupidest drivers on Earth. They go fast in the slow lane and go slow in the fast lane. Although this is mostly a driver problem and then you got the cvt which people still hate and haven't yet moved forward with the lawsuits too. And the accidents that involve altimas

If Nissan is so bad as you all claim it to be, why haven’t they declared bankruptcy or went out of business long time ago? They are doing very well financially under new management and no longer under Renault partnership. That should tell you something. Nissan is right up there with Toyota and Honda when it comes to reliability and I could careless what you all think. I drive a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 272,000 miles on the original CVT and never had an issue with it. I’m going to continue driving it til the wheels fall off. No matter what you all say, Nissan is a good brand despite all the hate it gets.
Yes .. I get so sick of hearing people being up the cvt when they don’t even know how to maintain the cvt , or never even drove a Nissan !
That's not how mega corporations work. You can be a dying brand but still sell less models...look at ford. Then 9/10 they get bailed out by a billion dollars acquisition. Just understand their CEO was hiding in a music suitcase for a reason.
Thanks for including BAE speed in specs, that's important to know for other drivers on the road. 😂
Altima: "Where Road Rage Comes Standard."
Right 😂😂
I already seen this refresh model on the road with the bumper held on by tape and a spare wheel on the front right side. Altima drivers are something else.
😂 😂
Did it have a paper tag affixed with packing tape?
I’ve seen more Kias like that than anything else
I’ve never heard of Altima drivers being stereotyped as shit drivers except in comments. The Prius drivers are the ones hauling ass and think they own the road.
i don't think Nissan is going to be able to shed the reputation. That's the risk they took when they went to the bottom of the barrel of car buyers.
AND I WILL BUY A FULLY LOADED 2023 OUTLANDER PHEV ANYWAY!
They sell cars, thats their business to sell cars to willing buyers..its not in their interest to monitor how the cars are treated by the owners 😑

Tell me you’re racist without telling me you’re racist
When I visited the U.S. back in December 2022, I rented a pre-facelift Nissan Altima SR. I genuinely loved it for how nicely designed it was inside and out. It was comfortable, peppy and had a good range of features. The only downside was the CVT, which really showed how awful it was under load. Other than that, it was a close to perfect car to me which is strange as I am someone who loves and daily's a full-size RWD V6 with a proper automatic plus has a midsized AWD manual turbo sedan for the weekend fun.
Long live Holden!
Would u consider buying one ?
4 cyl engines have more power today than 20-30 years ago, even V6s are slowly disappearing
I didn’t even know the Facebook group existed. I just know that 75% of Altimas I see on the road are doing 20mph+ above the speed limit and tailgating everyone regardless of traffic. They deserve the hate. I also see plenty of other vehicles as rentals, but none of them have the same bad reputation as an Altima. It’s just the truth…
Same experience here. I rented one also and still could not understand what about the car makes these people drive like they do. It was quick but did not feel sporty. Perhaps it's not the car but rather the type of people who are drawn to that car. Kinda like flies to a turd!
To be fair, Nissan and Bad are pretty synonymous with one another.
I have never seen an Altima driver behaving badly. 😎
Lol…that’s not fair. Frankly, if it wasn’t for those stupid CVT transmissions that failed miserably, Nissan would have an intact reputation. Nissan was never as good as Honda, Toyota or Subaru, but they’ve kept prices reasonable and Nissan at least TRIES to make their cars exciting.
If you say they are so bad, why are they selling like hotcakes? And if such a bad car, you need to watch and comment on a Nissan video? 😂
@@RKO859 In his defense 1. GM, Ford, Tesla, landrover, and Chrysler products all sell relatively well and aren't known for their reliability. 2. You assume he watched the video at all. He may, just like me, only be watching this video to support the channel and sofyan and may not give two chitts about Nissan.
The amount of hate Nissan gets is borderline weird sometimes, people are obsessed
I’ve always had a soft spot for Nissan but with Ghosn out of the picture I can definitely tell Nissan has been putting in effort to improve the company
Indeed.
Ngl this car looks good for what it is… Also a better vehicle than most Infinitis…

It's important to show this car in its brand new state because within a few weeks, the bumper will be held on by duct tape and the wheels will be curbed.
Nissan Altima: the Waffle House of mid-size sedans, because like a Waffle House at 2 am....when you see an Altima, you know some shit is about to happen
Dang....😂😂😂😂
💀💀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LMAFOOOOO
Winner......
That's some RCR-level of observations right there
The real reason it has a bad rep is that CVT! If Nissan gave up on those or contracted with Aisin to manufacture them, the Altima would be a viable competitor. At this point the only Nissan worth buying is one with a manual transmission or the new Pathfinder with the 8 speed auto.
Love your reviews as always. Just picked up a 2024 Altima SR 2.5 FWD in gray sky pearl.
Enjoy most everything about it: Full LED front headlights... aggressive styling.. great MPG around town and commuting....
Although .. . the seats are nowhere near as comfy as my 20*13* Altima 3.5 SL...... the lack of homelink/dimming mirror drives me insane.
The backup cam looks as if it copy pasted from my 2013 which is a shame.
I rather work a little extra and get myself a Camry Le hybrid 😅
I have the 2.0 VC-T after trading in Accord SE. I’m loving it so far. Dislike the cruise defaults to off every time you turn off car. Like the acoustic front windows.
Waiting till this hits the used market coz' we all know there's always that single mom , 5 kids, with huge BAE energy that wanna buy this with 174k miles, 24% interest for 96 months ... 😂

Damn. Lol
Tbis trash won't even make it to 174k miles. It won't even hit 50 before the Transmission blows
I can already see it, blasting the speakers with Cardi B and Ice Spice music and the fuzzy or bedazzled steering wheel cover 💀💀
I’ll never forget pumping gas at a gas station once and watching an Altima drive by with literal fire coming from the bottom of the engine block. Owner clearly had places to go as he didn’t stop and it was quite obvious something was wrong. Altima drivers are just built different.
Here In California it’s the Kia and Hyundai drivers there so much worse than Altima drivers I can go on and on with things I’ve witnessed with Kia and Hyundai drivers
Amazing job with my dream vehicle dude.
I've never understood why Nissan makes the Altima and Maxima so close in size. I know there is a difference in features, but it still doesn't make sense to have 2 vehicles so close in form.
Maxima discontinued 😢
@@ushallN0tpass Didn't know that. Nissan should have made the Maxima more of a flagship sedan since no one buys Infiniti vehicles.
@@dlg5485it was said like a year ago, why do people not pay attention?? The Maxima is gone
If Nissan would go back to a normal automatic transmission I would actually consider it.
you always have the best reviews .
when i get in a car i like to see how long it takes to accelerate with the least throttle input .
i think cvts should have wider ratios for fake shifting or a mode for it. (better for engine braking as well)
The whole Altima reputation is news to me; I live and drive in the midwest everyday and Altimas for one are not that common here and those that drive them are usually pretty chill. There's no shortage of aggressive or dumb drivers around here but most often they're driving pickup trucks, big SUVs, newer muscle & pony cars, Kia & Chrysler sedans and of course BMWs. Nissan drivers in general are pretty normal in their ways, especially those driving newer models. I guess it depends a lot on the region.
I don’t know what part of Midwest you have lived in to not know this, I have lived in 2 major MW cities in past 10 years and you can’t miss this shit
You have clearly not been to the Chicago area or the entire Great Lakes region then.
Any major city they are one of the cheapest cars you can find and driven by wreckless trashy people
@@gusherb94 the problem is the drivers over there, not the car.
BAE mentioned, nice
My last car was Altima 2013. Now I changed to Subaru Outback. I didn't miss that much about Altima even though they claimed 10 years ago the seat was designed based on NASA, I still feel tired after a few hours drive but I didn't feel that way with Subaru. I used to be a huge Altima fan and I thought I would be loyal Nissan customer forever.. until I got an car accident and my car was total loss while the other car was fine. The Altima has thin skin and got easily damaged with a mild hit. And... hopefully the new Altima has no such issue as my 2013 Altima got recall alert almost every year for the potential issue.
I just want to know why so many Altima's front or rear (or both) bumpers are hanging off the cars. And why the drivers always driving around like they were 20 minutes late to work half an hour ago.
Why are they driving like they’re late to the job they don’t have 😅
Imagine insisting the bad reputation for Altimas is because of a Facebook group with 100k followers that show Altima drivers doing “naughty things” instead of the real issues with the CVT 😂
Honestly I don't mind the tail lights I have led lights and when they go out I have to replace the whole assembly. And there's a core charge so you have to send it back... they look nice but I'm over them
The CVT ruined the Altima reputation not BAE
interesting, the screen doesn't look like 12 inches.. compared to Subaru Outback 11.6 inches..that one looks massive and dominate the center. Is this 12 in including the edge of the entire monitor or just the screen part?
The Altima has some good attributes as does all of its peer group, the big problem comes down to three letters CVT, specifically the one Nissan uses. There are tons of horror stories of these things breaking before 100K miles. Nissan could do itself a huge favor and replace the CVT with the new 9 speed, the rest of the package is really good.
I owned a 2017 and it had 100,000 miles when i traded and i had no issues with the CVT. But also i took care of it.
@@Tinrs80 glad yours held up. I still prefer the feel of torque converted autos to CVT.
My wife had a 2011 Rogue. At around 20k miles the transmission started making worst noises than it usually did. The transmission was replaced under warranty. The second transmission started making the same horrible noises in only a few months of installation. It got replaced with a new unit again. The second replacement lasted until 2020. It started making grinding noises, so we sold the car to Carvana for $9k. My wife bought a Toyota Venza. It's a huge step up for her and the CVT on the Toyota is whisper quiet. The Rogue's transmission was noisy, even when it was new.
@@timgt5 Go buy a Mazda with their outdated rotary knob infotainment system in 2023........
CVT was the first thing to go on my Murano several years ago. I vowed never to but a CVT again, but I hear it's mainly Nissan's CVT that are horrendous.
I owned and drove a 2013 Nissan Altima for 5 years. I really didn't have any major issues except for that transmission whining when it was stressed. I had to replace suspension components but other than that it was very reliable. Too bad for Nissan. They need to get rid of that CVT and tune the suspension and steering.
As long as Nissan utilizes the CVT transmission, I think that will always put it a step below other cars in terms of their transmission lifespan.
In 2027 there going to make it Electric
@@TinoMiller chy they gone still find something to talk about it’s in 2027
That's the main reason I avoid Nissan , I hate cvts
I mean what happened with Nissan offering a traditional automatic. I mean I get CVT transmissions are meant for efficiency, but Nissan has used a CVT in pretty much a majority of their vehicles, some which I don't think should have them, like the old Pathfinder for example.
My 2016 Nissan transmission went out at 150,000 miles on it 🤦🏽♂️
It looks good, spacious, good amount of tech most buyers will be happy with. And as per the memes people have fun driving or terrorizing in Altimas 😂. I’ve heard the Maxima will be rebranded as an electric car so im curious to see that model next year
Nissan Voltima
Big altima energy 😂
Style-wise, it is what the current Elantra should have been.
It's honestly sad to see people do awful things to such a good car 😭
Honestly if Nissan just ditches the CVT, uses a ZF transmission, better tuned of course. and on sport models offer a DCT. offers a Hybrid and a EV , offers a newer but a SR series motor like a nissan Silvia it, and AWD. There's alot of potential for so much more altimas are super comfortable, needs some Ariya in the Interior. At least 5 trims should be offered
I’d choose this over a Kia or a Hyundai because of the Kia boyz. I like the aggressive look and i don’t mind the CVT. The infotainment and that backup camera is horrible tho
I agree, Kia/Hyundai just dropped the ball with not installing basic security features and are currently facing the consequences.
Nissan, Honda, Kia etc. If your trying to convince me on a sedan, AWD better come standard. Nice review
In general Cvt is not terrible because it is not like regular auto transmission. Hence, it is gas friendly. I know toyota has mastered the tools and perfecting the design of CVT over the years. However, i heard many people depend on how they drive the car like Nissan altima…they havent had issues in their experience.
why is there no rear spoiler? every SR and Turbo models come with a rear spoiler, there's not even an option to choose it or not, it just comes with one. i think i saw another test car SR turbo other day on YT with no rear spoiler. what's the deal with that?

the car you see broken down on the side of the road.. anemic engine
4 cul with turbos dont last..cvt....reliability issues all the way around...Nissan is the new Chrysler
They should also put a small 100 hp electric engine and the back and made it 4 wheel drive. That will make it the class leader in power and handling.
Good enough for 3 year lease , works for me
I drove base 2022 ultimate rental car and I really liked it. Yes it was slow but I still liked it. It had its Charm.
These aren't the BAE Altimas. That's reserved for older and base models. Love the review btw
I wanna see what people will complain about next when Nissan go full electric. Right now its all CVTs which i know they’re notoriously known for breaking quickly but those were like 2012-2018 i think and they’ve made a lot of improvements and reduced the chance of it overheating which causes the CVT to start dying. I can’t wait to see what Nissan will do to these Cars when they convert to all electric.

Altimas and Nissan in general don’t have a bad reputation because of a Facebook group, it has a bad reputation because Nissan insists on having a cvt in these things although they’ve been proven to crap out randomly. So you’re taking a car with a really unreliable transmission and decided to add a turbo to the engine. Great job Nissan, maybe next time we can just make the car out of popsicle sticks and glue.
Looks better than new Accord imo
The cheaper Altimas SV and below have dual exhaust but they are tucked under the bumper hidden. The SL has memory seats.I like them. I owed one years ago and loved to travel in it. It served its purpose for me to travel for work and vacations and it was reliable.. mainly cause i had it at dealer for any scheduled maintenance it needed. Put 100,000 on it and it was a 2017 SL

I have certainly witnessed many big altima energy drivers out there. I've always wondered what about these cars made these people drive like complete AHoles. I rented one and besides the fact that it has a V6 and a little more power than the average car on the road there was no sporty factor to it that made me want to drive it like a jerk. It was how ever a really good highway car and concealed it's speed from the driver well so maybe that's the cause? They don't realize how fast they are driving. Or more likely they do but since the car feels so complacent at highway speeds they feel like they can continue pushing the envelope?
I'd be happier with a 7 sec car with a traditional trans, than a 6 sec car with a CVT.
It’ll be better if Nissan gets rid of the CVT in favor of the 9 speed automatic for the Altima.
I have a SR and I don't have a lot of these options including the "standard" moonroof. My seats are very much like bucket seats which I love but now I'm very disappointed seeing what I could have watching this video
