  • Another one-take, this time on how to remove the gauge cluster on a first generation (2000-2004) Ford Focus. Should apply to both sedan and hatchback models. Disconnecting your battery prior to this procedure is recommended. Reassembly is in simply the reverse of the removal process.
    A pair of small pliers would help in removing and installing bulbs, as they seem to get screwed in there pretty tight.

    THANKYOU. I am SO glad that I have watched this video, I did not know it was so straight forward. I can get gauges out now and put new trip meter bulb in and check fuel gauge contacts. Thanks.

    Bloody Haynes manual. Before I started to strip the cluster out, I read every detail in the manual. Everything went fine until it came to the multi plug on the back of the cluster. I tried pulling it straight out like it shows in the Haynes. I tried levering it with a screwdriver and I realised there is something wrong here. Went back to the Haynes manual and there is a picture showing the plug in a magicians hand. He must be magic because the black lever on the plug that has to be pushed back off the plug is still in the middle of the plug without any reference to it.
    What a relief when I watched your video showing how to release the lever before removing the plug. A huge thanks for taking the trouble to put it on UA-cam as I was nearly ready to pull my hair out.

    Excellent, thank you. I can't wait to take mine out and yank that stupid little buzzer out of that instrument cluster. I am so sick of listening to that thing.

    Thank you very much for the great video, I have one question though; do I have to disconnect the battery before replacing the cluster?
    Many thanks

      It's recommended to do so when doing anything electrical related on your car, but for pulling a cluster not absolutely mandatory as long as the car stays off.

    Thanks for the tutorial.
    I'm tryimg to swap my current gauge cluster for one that has a tachometer. My car came without one. Do you know if It's possible to carry over the odometer to the new unit? I heard the data is programmed into the gauge cluster itself so I'm worried by doing so it will alter the mileage readout.

      Yes, the mileage is stored in the cluster so the new clusters odometer reading will show.

    My gage cluster on my 2007 Ford focus idk what to do because my check engine light is stuck. On I can only get the focus 5o pass smog check because of this. The car has no mechanical issues at all the car is on tip top shape engine good everything it's just the in check engine light is stuck on I need to know if you know anything about check engine light stuck on on the cluster I see that you're showing a video on UA-cam on how to take the cluster out but how do I get that light to turn off do I need to buy a new cluster where can I buy a new cluster for a 2007 Ford focus any tips any kind of info you can shoot my way I would really appreciate it because it would be really sad I won't be able to drive this car my stepdad took the car to a shop it was a Ford dealer shop and they told him that if he was to get a new cluster that it would still have the same problem with a check engine light still on so I don't know what to do help if you have any info please send my way I appreciate your time thank you bye-bye

      To get the check engine light to not be on, you need to fix the problem that's causing it to appear in the first place. A mechanic shop can hook up a scan tool to pull the error code and find out what's the issue.

    Hi, in my case neither the speedometer nor the odometer work on my 2002 Focus, although it's an intermittent problem. When this happens, there is a yellow symbol (3rd one up from the left) that shows. Any idea what this could be? Thanks

    • @Ashquacks
      @Ashquacks  Рік тому

      3rd from the bottom on the left side is the airbag light, I'm not sure how that'd be related to the speedometer and odometer working. If they are intermittently cutting out and at the same time the airbag light appears, my best guess would be possibly a loose ground or defective cluster itself.
