Its just amazing. The situation that lead to the cap scene. "This is a *family* movie so we cant have a gorey suicide. What's a non gorey suicide?" "Umm....pills?" "Perfect! But we have to have her struggling so the mom and friend can come and save her just in time. How do we do that?" "Um...I guess all we can do is have her struggle with the cap." "..........Yeah that should work."
WHO THE HELL THOUGHT THAT CAP SCENE WAS A GOOD IDEA? Why not just show that she actually DID take the pills?? That was not a "suicide attemp", it was an "ATTEMPTED suicide attempt". 😆
That means she knew the block button was there, or she would have wondered what it was. And she just never thought to use it to the people harrassing her. Fucking genuis, that's probably why she couldn't get the cap off.
The problem is the film was made by 60 year olds most likely who have never used social media, so for them the idea of blocking, reporting, deleting messages, all of that is something they probably learnt about while making the film, they don't seem to understand kids who have grown up with social media know full well all the functionality and would only not block/report people if they actively wanted to stay involved in a mud-slinging match. Basically it's a film made for 60 year olds in high school.
Honestly, if somebody made a video like that about me, I would probably like and favorite it. I mean, if someone really goes through the time and effort to print out an image of my face for a mask, stuff their shirt, and get their friends together to make a video specifically to make fun of me, then I think I can safely say that I'm not the biggest loser in the area. Particularly now that I'm 21.
I watched this in a class I had called “teen issues” and when she couldn’t get the cap off me and my friend had to go in the hallway because we were laughing uncontrollably while some kid in the back was crying
Captain Patchwork Schools nowadays really stress all the anti-bullying and mental health sort of messages. Unfortunately it is done very poorly, using films like this and completely ignoring, sometimes even encouraging bullying outside of class, so it's probably just a legal responsibility now.
They should make an infomercial product for this? "Do you need to take medications just like a regular person, but you can't get the cap off? Then try [ ]! No more will you struggle in vain to pull the cap off of a simple childproof bottle of Advil as your headache rages on."
+64 Rounds This is a really old post by now, but I have to point out how different the scenario would be if you replaced the "a" with an "o" in "claps"... Whole other kind of movie we would have on our hands really...

Hello Lindsey, I wanna play a game. You bully kids to the point of them not being capable of getting a cap off. Now it is your turn to feel the memes. You have 1 minute to embarrass yourself in front of the whole school, or you will be flamed online forever. Live or cry, make your choice.
as someone who's dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts, the "I CANT GET THE CAP OFF" scene always makes me laugh. what an awful portrayal of attempted suicide
Leah Shoe it looks like it was the writers attempt to try to put a close call scene in. But they didn't think about how it would look to the audience they probably. We read too busy tear-jerking and then calm down and be happy it was a close call. But this just makes her look stupid and causes laughter instead out of pure stupidity. I wonder if they tried to justify it by saying that she was in such a chaotic mind said she couldn't do a simple task like get around the child proof cap. But then this is the type of movie that's meant to emotionally manipulate you after all..... And fails miserably at it minus the few who are easily emotional and are able to shut their brain off. I say this as someone who tear jerks at sad scenes but it's pretty hard to get me a tear jerk you have to got me to like the character for me to tear jerk at any bad thing that happens them otherwise I'll probably be the one person and the DeRidder laughing at said seen because I didn't like the character and I don't feel one bit for their blight if it's stupid and Petty. This is more me being defiant to the writer the anything else because I don't like being treated like I'm an emotional idiot. If you want me to get emotional you have to earn it would good writing I'm not expecting such Grand writing that even the gods will weep. But I expect effort damn it.
i actually watched the full movie and apparently what happened was that he was grounded for a month for the "hacking" and shit but then the mom un-grounded him for some reason (I'm 99.9999% sure it hadn't been anywhere near a month since) but then he's like "I'm grounded fuck off" so yea
That ending in the cafeteria is among the cheesiest scenes I’ve ever seen. This whole movie seems like it was written by a 65 year old dinosaur that thinks he knows how teens and the internet are.
i think cyberbullying laws should be for doxxing and repeated harassment like if someone is stalking all ur social media and posting threats or personal info on every post yeah that's a problem but mean stuff? no
Sleeping Night, we only got a seminar on cyberbullying and internet privacy at my school, and it was clear that the person they got the presentation from had no idea how the current generation sees things.
I feel like that was the turning point for the bully. Before that she was just a lame run-of-the-mill troll but after that she became a full-blown sociopath.
NERD Incorporated And another thing I wanna add is who has the time to make a cardboard cut out of somebody's face and make a skit about a girl they don't like? edit: Sorry replied to the wrong person.
@@beautyandtheoffbeats Don't forget that it wasn't just the mean girl in the vid either; there was the boy who played the extra in it too. Maybe they all go to a school where there's no homework so this is how they pass time? Idk
I'd personally find it amusing that somebody went through the effort of finding a good picture of me, printing it out in color on some cardboard or something, crafting that into a crude mask, thinking up a skit, and getting their friend to join in. It's just like, "Damn, you really don't have much to do, do you?"
Why do these bullying mean view seem to think that telling the bully that their words hurt would solve the problem? Sure, that would work if it was a genuine friend taking a joke too far, but an actual bully will be actively trying to hurt. Telling them that their words are hurting you would be like telling them "good job". They'll feel like they found the jackpot. If ignoring them and not giving them the reaction they crave doesn't work, taking it to an authority figure is much better than that or in this case, blocking them.
i know, it should go.. idiot:"You know... what you say.. your words online... they hurt!" Bully: "Uhhh no shit, that was kinda the point, see this is why we bully your dumb ass!"
One thing I do is mostly laugh it off. One time, somebody called me a racist online and schizophrenic another time. Both times I laughed and didn't respond.
The Kung Pow "Weeeeo weeee" thing had me in tears. Also, also... hooooly shit, I just realized why that actress seemed so eerily familiar. Osment... as in Haley "I see dead people" Osment?! My mind just left me. Grabbed a suitcase and just fucking fled the scene.
*Directors* Let's make a movie about TEENS and BULLYING! Assistant: But sir, you have never been bullied and know nothing about these generations of TEENS! *Directors* HAHAHA-, nice one. Now let's start making the script.
assistant: hey uhh maybe we could ask some bullied teens what the went through just maybe? directors: what? as if we cared? cmon bRIAN get your head outta your ass
11:38 THAT IS NOT HOW A CAFETERIA FULL OF TEENAGERS WOULD REACT. THE MAJORITY OF THEM WOULDN'T HEAR THIS RANDOM CONVERSATION OVER THEIR OWN, AND THE FEW THAT WOULD WOULD SMIRK AND LAUGH WITH LINDSEY
+Olivia Loves Snow Not to mention its the exact opposite of "not gonna let them have power over me anymore" thing. You don't approach your bullies and tell them they're getting to you to get them to lay off.
+Olivia Loves Snow yeah most teenagers would think that's cheesy and weird. They would probably continue talking aknowledging it's happening, but willingly ignoring it , or stay silent feeling awkward that someone went to see a popular girl to say stuff that no teenager ever would ever say, oh and the friend who switch sides but then realise her wrongdoing and come back? Not only a cliché, but a highly unrealistic one, at best she would be very uncomfortable with the scene... not freaking switching side again, like a freaking hypocrite.
How I would teach a cyberbullying council: -Have all those attending sitting in chairs around in a circle. -Have myself along with a laptop in the centre. -Hold up the laptop and show them the power button while slowly rotating myself so everyone gets a good look. -Class dismissed. Next class: How to get past those pesky child-proof caps.
From all the comments I’m seeing a lot of kids nowadays are shown this movie in their health classes... The educational system is a joke. This movie is worse than cool cat in terms of the message.
I remember watching this while in a mental health unit. We watched this due to bullying, and when it got to the cap scene someone started laughing and then the rest of us started laughing. We got a long talking to about how it isn't funny.
@ the criticism of them taking her to the hospital anyways even though her suicide was unsuccessful: they'll still take you to the hospital if they feel you pose a danger to yourself or others, even if the suicide itself was unsuccessful. If they think you'll try again and if they think you're at risk, that puts you in just as much danger as it would if you were bleeding out, but instead of the danger being physical it's mental.
it’s not even with just suicides, my friend got in a fender bender like just a simple little rear end crash and they had to take her to the hospital to check for trauma
Honestly, that comparison really doesn't fit here. It's more like closing your eyes to the flame so it can't scare you until the moment you get burned. What people forget about cases of school cyberbullying, is that it follows you into real life. Just because you can't read it, doesn't mean others can't (Although deleting her page would have helped a ton obviously), and that paranoia about what people are saying or hearing about you is what ultimately drives kids to such extremes. Just cause the movie was bad and the kids in it were stupid, doesn't mean we should be desensitized to the overall message. Personally I think if you're gonna say or do shit that would get you in trouble in real life, and you're stupid enough to identify yourself, you deserve those real life consequences.
The Salt Merchant You clearly didn't read my comment or you might realize that's the exact same thing. Plus it's not like people being mean on the internet on fake accounts are typically against, you know, making MORE accounts. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not happening, and you can't block people from bringing it up in real life.
The Salt Merchant You clearly have not read, or perhaps lack the reading comprehension to understand, either of my comments, so I won't be wasting any more time on you. I'm sure you'll understand someday as you mature.
Well, if everyone would kill themselves everytime they get to the same level of distress, the humanity would disapear. Actually, no, because no one would be able to take the cap off.
Okay, ignoring any other complaints about the film, "I can't get the cap off!" completely kills the drama. Of course, that might be because I'm a bitter, callous bastard, but still...
TO BE ENTIRELY FAIR, I have a friend who was suicidal and they didn't even make an ATTEMPT, they just admitted they were suicidal and(willingly) went to the hospital and then to inpatient. Inpatient/hospital time is(or at least should be) used preventively just as often. Plus, it's pretty heavily encouraged by medical/mental health professionals to seek them out even just for suicidal urges, since getting help before you make any attempts helps prevent the need for actual medical intervention and removes a lot of variables. Also if you make an attempt, even if failed entirely, usually the result is mandatory hospital time since you're a danger to yourself(I.E. even if you couldn't do it, you will still be trying to harm yourself when not under supervision). That doesn't make the movie any better, obvs, but I'm just sayin' that the only thing I think you got wrong was mentioning that they took her to the hospital despite her failing, since that is standard protocol/procedure and it's what every hospital, doctor, and mental health professional will tell you is the necessary next step. Rest of the review is spot on, but like... idk it bugged me. You clearly put a lot of work into these reviews, though, and no one can know everything about everything, so I'm not like. Tryin' to rag on you or whatever haha.
What do you think happens at hospitals that magically makes suicidal ideation go away? Magic? Pills? A week in an institution didn’t do anything for me except put more bad experiences under my belt. If you want suicidal people to be honest about their problems maybe you shouldn’t whole heartedly encourage places that are rampant with abuse and neglect.
Lee Kasa No shit!!! I’m saying it’s a gamble and you should leave it up to the individual to get what ever kind of treatment they need, and expecting everyone to go to inpatient is kinda dumb.
When I was in 6th grade someone made an account on a social media website pretending to be me and then did some really stupid stuff. What did I do? I went to all of my classmates’ accounts and told them that that account was a troll and that they shouldn’t talk to them. PROBLEM SOLVED
Happened to me too. A few people made a fake facebook account and made all kinds of stupid and embarrassing posts and likes. All the while I was completely fucking oblivious because I didn't even know what the fuck facebook was at the time.
Yep I did that too, when my account was hacked I just blocked it on my new one and told everyone "Hey I got hacked please follow THIS one and report the hacked one" and it was taken down in less than a day
OMG!!! “I can’t get the cap off!” PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I know what the movie is trying to do, but that was the most pathetic attempt at a suicide scene I’ve ever seen! It’s not without potential though, just have the girl open the door and see her sitting on the edge of the bathtub with an empty bottle right next to her. She’s already taken the pills, but she’s slowly realizing what she did and pleads with the paramedics when they arrive to help her. That could’ve been a much better scene...... but “I can’t get the cap off”!? Omg this movie has me dying of laughter.
Or just have her struggle with the cap without actually saying she's struggling with the cap, then have her break down when her friend and mother try to stop her. End scene. Extending it past that point is the other thing that made it comical.
Yeah when I first watched it in 7th grade I was bracing myself for her to be on the floor not moving and I was like ".....What the fuck" when "I CAN'T GET THE CAP OFF" happened
plot twist JB was the dad! Cyber Bully 2 he comes back to find out his daughter tried killing herself, so he goes out and kills all the popular girls until his daughter becomes popular then he kills her.
Even Heather McNamara was smart enough to get the cap off and get a cheek full of pills, but maybe because even the dumbest character was still realistic
Honestly I’m getting pretty tired by movies that tell you how to raise children, there isn’t a correct way to do it, it’ll just suppress anything that’s different about them. I mean some boundaries should be set but every child child is different and I don’t see what makes this people a better judge
Right? "mommy she called me a bitch online, do someeeethiiiiing, stop fake trusstiiiing meet" then there's "mommy, can you stop giving me all the dinner... I can share, I know you're hungry"
Okay, I've been near-suicidally depressed for six years now, and the lack of empathy people on the internet so often show for people who are, particularly if it stems from internet harassment, disgusts me. And while I may not agree with making harassment illegal, it should at the very least be held to the same standards we hold non-internet communication. But this movie is completely indefensible.
Elvick I guess if someone finds out where you live and says they are coming to kill you, you just block them right? The police can't help you with nothing other then a text. And in person you just tell the police what they look like. But I guess it's the same thing right? According to you.
i mean, i've been a victim of bullying, sexual abuse, what have you. even ended up accidentally finding an online pedophile for someone (thanks, perverted justice!). i'm for anti-hate speech, but this movie is... oh god.
Starchie Halo I feel like you all make this very weird "Oh yeah, sure uh so cyberbullying is still that even if someone stalks me home" - If someone has that power, it means they are in my town (rarely someone from idk JAPAN would cross over half of the world to get you), in my area and has already put a target in me irl. if they resort to irl stuff, it's BULLYING, cyberbullying is easily blockable, ffs. if it crosses the line between CYBER and REAL, it means it's bullying at it's finest but "cyberbullies" generally are countries that are far away from you enough that they'd have to actively take a plane in order to do anything you've detailed.
You know a movie's bad if they made a scene of attempted suicide unintentionally hilarious...

Lmfao ikr.
Same, and that scene was realllly stupid. Like dear god, was the movie even trying?!

The most hilarious thing I've probably seen in a Hollywood film.
The fact you added the SNL scene of the skit of "whatcha say?" makes this a whole lot better.

That's like saying it hurts when you burn yourself but you keep doing it anyways.

Tryin' to rag on you or whatever haha.
to be fair a lot of suicidal people don't seek help cause they're afraid to admit to others about their situation but i catch your drift
What do you think happens at hospitals that magically makes suicidal ideation go away? Magic? Pills? A week in an institution didn’t do anything for me except put more bad experiences under my belt. If you want suicidal people to be honest about their problems maybe you shouldn’t whole heartedly encourage places that are rampant with abuse and neglect.
did you just say obvs???????
Just because you had a bad experience with a hospital doesn't mean everyone will. I know many people that got better after being in a hospital

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Nope it's that people should stop being such pussies
No you've got is all wrong! It's that high school girls are literally fucking awful self-centered cunts!
***** I'm a high school girls and I resent this.
Agent Francis York Morgan A high school girl that likes Deadly Premonition, is such a thing possible?
Quite so, my friend, quite so.
That pill bottle scene literally shook me to my core, and by that I mean I literally doubled over laughing at how bad it is.
+ColeYote I hope things get better for you.
Elvick I guess if someone finds out where you live and says they are coming to kill you, you just block them right? The police can't help you with nothing other then a text. And in person you just tell the police what they look like. But I guess it's the same thing right? According to you.
Starchie Halo they cant even do anything with most threats dude. are you seriously that ignorant
i mean, i've been a victim of bullying, sexual abuse, what have you. even ended up accidentally finding an online pedophile for someone (thanks, perverted justice!). i'm for anti-hate speech, but this movie is...
“911 help I’m being cyber bullied, guess that gunshot victim will have to wait”
Those crying sound affects 🤣
From one of the best movies of all time :D
Where are they from?
@@wefkr Kung Pow! Enter the fist! Highly recommended... :D :P
2:37, I like how she spells "bucks", like "bux".
That part was Life is Strange levels of cringe.
the gibus To be fair who wouldn’t strip for Robux
**V-bux**
As hilarious as this movie is, the blatant anti-free speech element is legitimately scary.
Thank you so much for Kung Pow's crying sound effects. Had me rolling.
